Malaquias 3

1 Eis que eu envio o meu anjo, que apparelhará o caminho diante de mim; e de repente virá ao seu templo o Senhor, a quem vós buscaes, e o anjo do concerto, a quem vós desejaes; eis aqui que vem, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos.

“See, I am about to send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, see, he will come,” says Yahweh of hosts.

2 Mas quem supportará o dia da sua vinda? e quem subsistirá, quando elle apparecer? porque elle será como o fogo do ourives e como o sabão dos lavandeiros.

But who will be able to endure the day of his coming? Who will be able to stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner's fire and like laundry soap.

3 E assentar-se-ha, affinando e purificando a prata; e purgará os filhos de Levi, e os affinará como oiro e como prata: então ao Senhor trarão offerta em justiça.

He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi. He will refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings of righteousness to Yahweh.

4 E a offerta de Judah e de Jerusalem será suave ao Senhor, como nos dias antigos, e como nos primeiros.

Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to Yahweh, as in the days of old, and as in ancient years.

5 E chegar-me-hei a vós para juizo, e serei uma testemunha veloz contra os feiticeiros e contra os adulteros, e contra os que juram falsamente, e contra os que defraudam o jornaleiro em seu jornal, e a viuva, e o orphão, que pervertem o direito do estrangeiro, e não me temem, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos.

“Then I will approach you for judgment. I will quickly become a witness against the sorcerers, the adulterers, the false witnesses, and against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, those who oppress the widow and the fatherless, against those who turn away the foreigner, and against those who do not honor me,” says Yahweh of hosts.

6 Porque eu, o Senhor, não mudo; por isso vós, ó filhos de Jacob, não sois consumidos.

“For I, Yahweh, have not changed; therefore you, sons of Jacob, have not come to an end.

7 Desde os dias de vossos paes vos desviastes dos meus estatutos, e não os guardastes: tornae a mim, e eu tornarei a vós, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos; mas vós dizeis: Em que havemos de tornar?

From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my ordinances and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says Yahweh of hosts. “But you say, 'How will we return?'

8 Roubará o homem a Deus? porque vós me roubaes, e dizeis: Em que te roubámos? nos dizimos e nas offertas alçadas.

Would a person rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, 'How have we robbed you?' In tithes and offerings.

9 Com maldição sois malditos, porque me roubaes a mim, sim, toda a nação.

You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation.

10 Trazei todos os dizimos á casa do thesouro, para que haja mantimento na minha casa, e provae-me n'isto, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, se eu então não vos abrirei as janellas do céu, e não vasarei sobre vós uma benção até que não caiba mais.

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says Yahweh of hosts, “if I do not open to you the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing on you, until there is no more room for it all.

11 E por causa de vós reprehenderei o devorador, para que não vos corrompa o fructo da terra; e a vide no campo vos não será esteril, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos.

I will speak against those who destroy your crops, so that they do not destroy the harvest of your land. Your vines in the fields will not lose their fruit,” says Yahweh of hosts.

12 E todas as nações vos chamarão bemaventurados; porque vós sereis uma terra deleitosa, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos.

“All the nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight,” says Yahweh of hosts.

13 As vossas palavras prevaleceram contra mim, diz o Senhor; mas vós dizeis: Que temos fallado contra ti?

“Your words against me have been strong,” says Yahweh. “But you say, 'What have we said among ourselves against you?'

14 Vós dizeis: Debalde é servir a Deus: que nos aproveita termos guardado os seus preceitos, e andarmos vestidos de preto diante do Senhor dos Exercitos?

You have said, 'It is useless to serve God. What profit is it that we have kept his requirements or walked mournfully before Yahweh of hosts?

15 Ora pois, nós reputamos por bemaventurados os soberbos: tambem os que obram impiedade se edificam; tambem tentam ao Senhor, e escapam.

So now we call the arrogant blessed. Evildoers not only prosper, but they even test God and escape.'”

16 Então aquelles que temem ao Senhor fallam cada um com o seu companheiro; e o Senhor attenta e ouve; e ha um memorial escripto diante d'elle, para os que temem o Senhor, e para os que se lembram do seu nome.

Then those who feared Yahweh spoke with one another. Yahweh paid attention and listened, and a book of remembrance was written before him about those who feared Yahweh and honored his name.

17 E elles serão meus, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, n'aquelle dia que farei me serão propriedade; poupal-os-hei, como um homem poupa a seu filho, que o serve.

“They will be mine,” says Yahweh of hosts, “my own treasured possession, on the day that I act. I will pity them, as a man pities his own son who serves him.

18 Então tornareis e vereis a differença entre o justo e o impio; entre o que serve a Deus, e o que não o serve.

Then once again you will distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who worships God and one who does not worship him.
