Lamentações de Jeremias 4
1 Como se escureceu o oiro! como se mudou o oiro fino e bom! como estão espalhadas as pedras do sanctuario ao canto de todas as ruas!
How is the gold become dim, Changed the best — the pure gold? Poured out are stones of the sanctuary At the head of all out-places.
2 Os preciosos filhos de Sião, avaliados a puro oiro, como são agora reputados por vasos de barro, obra das mãos do oleiro!
The precious sons of Zion, Who are comparable with fine gold, How have they been reckoned earthen bottles, Work of the hands of a potter.
3 Até as vaccas marinhas abaixam o peito, dão de mamar aos seus filhos; porém a filha do meu povo fez-se cruel como as abestruzes no deserto.
Even dragons have drawn out the breast, They have suckled their young ones, The daughter of my people is become cruel, Like the ostriches in a wilderness.
4 A lingua do mesmo que mama de sêde fica pegada ao seu paladar: os meninos pedem pão, e não ha quem lh'o reparta.
Cleaved hath the tongue of a suckling unto his palate with thirst, Infants asked bread, a dealer out they have none.
5 Os que comiam delicadezas agora desfallecem nas ruas: os que se crearam em carmezim abraçam o esterco.
Those eating of dainties have been desolate in out-places, Those supported on scarlet have embraced dunghills.
6 E maior é a maldade da filha do meu povo do que o peccado de Sodoma, a qual se subverteu como n'um momento, sem que trabalhassem n'ella mãos algumas.
And greater is the iniquity of the daughter of my people, Than the sin of Sodom, That was overturned as [in] a moment, And no hands were stayed on her.
7 Os seus nazireos eram mais alvos do que a neve, eram mais brancos do que o leite, eram mais roxos de corpo do que os rubis, e mais lisos do que a saphira.
Purer were her Nazarites than snow, Whiter than milk, ruddier of body than rubies, Of sapphire their form.
8 Mas agora escureceu-se o seu parecer mais do que o negrume, não se conhecem nas ruas: a sua pelle se lhes pegou aos ossos, seccou-se, tornou-se como um pau.
Darker than blackness hath been their visage, They have not been known in out-places, Cleaved hath their skin unto their bone, It hath withered — it hath been as wood.
9 Os mortos á espada mais ditosos são do que os mortos á fome; porque estes se esgotam como traspassados, por falta dos fructos dos campos.
Better have been the pierced of a sword Than the pierced of famine, For these flow away, pierced through, Without the increase of the field.
10 As mãos das mulheres compassivas cozeram seus filhos: serviram-lhes de comida no quebrantamento da filha do meu povo.
The hands of merciful women have boiled their own children, They have been for food to them, In the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11 Deu o Senhor cumprimento ao seu furor: derramou o ardor da sua ira, e accendeu fogo em Sião, que consumiu os seus fundamentos.
Completed hath Jehovah His fury, He hath poured out the fierceness of His anger, And he kindleth a fire in Zion, And it devoureth her foundations.
12 Não creram os reis da terra, nem todos os moradores do mundo, que entrasse o adversario e o inimigo pelas portas de Jerusalem.
Believe not did the kings of earth, And any of the inhabitants of the world, That come would an adversary and enemy Into the gates of Jerusalem.
13 Pelos peccados dos prophetas, pelas maldades dos seus sacerdotes, que derramaram o sangue dos justos no meio d'ella,
Because of the sins of her prophets, The iniquities of her priests, Who are shedding in her midst the blood of the righteous,
14 Erraram cegos nas ruas, andavam contaminados de sangue; e, não podendo, levantavam as extremidades das suas roupas.
They have wandered naked in out-places, They have been polluted with blood, Without [any] being able to touch their clothing,
15 Chamavam-lhes: Desviae-vos, é immundo; desviae-vos, desviae-vos, não toqueis, certo é que já voaram, tambem erraram: disseram entre as nações: Nunca mais morarão aqui.
'Turn aside — unclean,' they called to them, 'Turn aside, turn aside, touch not,' For they fled — yea, they have wandered, They have said among nations: 'They do not add to sojourn.'
16 A face do Senhor os apartou, nunca mais tornará a olhar para elles: não reverenciaram a face dos sacerdotes, nem se compadeceram dos velhos.
The face of Jehovah hath divided them, He doth not add to behold them, The face of priests they have not lifted up, Elders they have not favoured.
17 Emquanto subsistiamos, ainda desfalleciam os nossos olhos, esperando o nosso vão soccorro: olhavamos attentamente pela gente que não podia livrar.
While we exist — consumed are our eyes for our vain help, In our watch-tower we have watched for a nation [that] saveth not.
18 Espiaram os nossos passos, de maneira que não podiamos andar pelas nossas ruas: está chegado o nosso fim, estão cumpridos os nossos dias, porque é vindo o nosso fim
They have hunted our steps from going in our broad-places, Near hath been our end, fulfilled our days, For come hath our end.
19 Os nossos perseguidores foram mais ligeiros do que as aves dos céus: sobre os montes nos perseguiram, no deserto nos armaram ciladas.
Swifter have been our pursuers, Than the eagles of the heavens, On the mountains they have burned [after] us, In the wilderness they have laid wait for us.
20 O respiro dos nossos narizes, o ungido do Senhor, foi preso nas suas covas; do qual diziamos: Debaixo da sua sombra viveremos entre as nações.
The breath of our nostrils — the anointed of Jehovah, Hath been captured in their pits, of whom we said: 'In his shadow we do live among nations.'
21 Regozija-te, e alegra-te, ó filha de Edom, que habitas na terra de Uz; porém ainda até a ti passará o copo; embebedar-te-has, e te descobrirás.
Joy and rejoice, O daughter of Edom, Dwelling in the land of Uz, Even unto thee pass over doth a cup, Thou art drunk, and makest thyself naked.
22 Já se cumpriu a tua maldade, ó filha de Sião, nunca mais te levará em captiveiro: visitará a tua maldade, ó filha de Edom, descobrirá os teus peccados.
Completed [is] thy iniquity, daughter of Zion, He doth not add to remove thee, He hath inspected thy iniquity, O daughter of Edom, He hath removed [thee] because of thy sins!
