Juízes 10
1 E depois de Abimelech, se levantou, para livrar a Israel, Tola, filho de Puah, filho de Dodo, homem d'Issacar: e habitava em Samir, na montanha d'Ephraim.
After Abimelech there arose a ruler in Israel, Thola son of Phua the uncle of Abimelech, a man of Issachar, who dwelt in Samir of mount Ephraim:
2 E julgou a Israel vinte e tres annos: e morreu, e foi sepultado em Samir.
And he judged Israel three and twenty years, and he died and was buried in Samir.
3 E depois d'elle se levantou Jair, gileadita, e julgou a Israel vinte e dois annos.
To him succeeded Jair the Galaadite, who judged Israel for two and twenty years.
4 E tinha este trinta filhos, que cavalgavam sobre trinta jumentos; e tinham trinta cidades, a que chamaram Havoth-jair, até ao dia d'hoje; as quaes estão na terra de Gilead.
Having thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and were princes of thirty cities, which from his name were called Havoth Jair, that is, the towns of Jair, until this present day in the land of Galaad.
5 E morreu Jair, e foi sepultado em Camon.
And Jair died: and was buried in the place which was called Camon.
6 Então tornaram os filhos de Israel a fazer o que parecia mal aos olhos do Senhor, e serviram aos baalins, e a Astaroth, e aos deuses da Syria, e aos deuses de Sidon, e aos deuses de Moab, e aos deuses dos filhos d'Ammon, e aos deuses dos philisteos: e deixaram ao Senhor, e não o serviram.
But the children of Israel, adding new sins to their old ones, did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served idols, Baalim and Astaroth, and the gods of Syria and of Sidon and of Moab and of the children of Ammon and of the Philistines: and they left the Lord, and did not serve him.
7 E a ira do Senhor se accendeu contra Israel: e vendeu-os em mão dos philisteos, e em mão dos filhos d'Ammon.
And the Lord being angry with them, delivered them into the hands of the Philistines and of the children of Ammon.
8 E n'aquelle mesmo anno opprimiram e vexaram aos filhos de Israel: dezoito annos opprimiram a todos os filhos de Israel que estavam d'além do Jordão, na terra dos amorrheos, que está em Gilead.
And they were afflicted, and grievously oppressed for eighteen years, all they that dwelt beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorrhite, who is in Galaad:
9 Até os filhos d'Ammon passaram o Jordão, para pelejar tambem contra Judah, e contra Benjamin, e contra a casa d'Ephraim: de maneira que Israel ficou mui angustiado.
Insomuch that the children of Ammon passing over the Jordan, wasted Juda and Benjamin and Ephraim: and Israel was distressed exceedingly.
10 Então os filhos d'Israel clamaram ao Senhor, dizendo: Contra ti havemos peccado, em que deixámos a nosso Deus, e em que servimos aos baalins.
And they cried to the Lord, and said: We have sinned against thee, because we have forsaken the Lord our God, and have served Baalim.
11 Porém o Senhor disse aos filhos de Israel: Porventura dos egypcios, e dos amorrheos, e dos filhos d'Ammon, e dos philisteos,
And the Lord said to them: Did not the Egyptians and the Amorrhites, and the children of Ammon and the Philistines,
12 E dos sidonios, e dos amalekitas, e dos maonitas, que vos opprimiam, quando a mim chamastes, não vos livrei eu então da sua mão?
The Sidonians also and Amalec and Chanaan oppress you, and you cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand?
13 Comtudo vós me deixastes a mim, e servistes a outros deuses: pelo que não vos livrarei mais.
And yet you have forsaken me, and have worshipped strange gods: therefore I will deliver you no more:
14 Andae, e clamae aos deuses que escolhestes: que vos livrem elles no tempo do vosso aperto.
Go and call upon the gods which you have chosen: let them deliver you in the time of distress.
15 Mas os filhos de Israel disseram ao Senhor: Peccámos, faze-nos conforme a tudo quanto te parecer bem aos teus olhos; tão sómente te rogamos que nos livres n'este dia.
And the children of Israel said to the Lord: We have sinned, do thou unto us whatsoever pleaseth thee: only deliver us this time.
16 E tiraram os deuses alheios do meio de si, e serviram ao Senhor: então se angustiou a sua alma por causa do trabalho d'Israel.
And saying these things, they cast away out of their coasts all the idols of strange gods and served the Lord their God: and he was touched with their miseries.
17 E os filhos d'Ammon se convocaram, e se pozeram em campo em Gilead: e tambem os de Israel se congregaram, e se pozeram em campo em Mispah.
And the children of Ammon shouting together, pitched their tents in Galaad: against whom the children of Israel assembled themselves together and camped in Maspha.
18 Então o povo, os principes de Gilead disseram uns aos outros: Quem será o varão que começará a pelejar contra os filhos d'Ammon? elle será por Cabeça de todos os moradores de Gilead
And the princes of Galaad said one to another: Whosoever of us shall first begin to fight against the children of Ammon, he shall be the leader of the people of Galaad.
