Josué 1
1 E succedeu depois da morte de Moysés, servo do Senhor, que o Senhor fallou a Josué, filho de Nun, servo de Moysés, dizendo:
And it came to pass after the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke unto Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, saying,
2 Moysés, meu servo, é morto: levanta-te pois agora, passa este Jordão, tu e todo este povo, a terra que eu dou aos filhos d'Israel.
Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, pass over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, to the children of Israel.
3 Todo o logar que pisar a planta do vosso pé vol-o tenho dado, como eu disse a Moysés.
Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
4 Desde o deserto e desde este Libano, até ao grande rio, o rio Euphrates, toda a terra dos hetheos, e até o grande mar para o poente do sol, será o vosso termo.
From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your boundary.
5 Nenhum se susterá diante de ti, todos os dias da tua vida: como fui com Moysés, assim serei comtigo: não te deixarei nem te desampararei.
No man shall be able to stand up before thee all the days of thy life; as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee: I will not let thee fail, nor forsake thee.
6 Esforça-te, e tem bom animo: porque tu farás a este povo herdar a terra que jurei a seus paes lhes daria.
Be strong and of a good courage; for thou shalt divide for an inheritance unto this people the land, which I swore unto their fathers to give to them.
7 Tão sómente esforça-te e tem mui bom animo, para teres o cuidado de fazer conforme a toda a lei que meu servo Moysés te ordenou; d'ella não te desvies, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda, para que prudentemente te conduzas por onde quer que andares.
Only be thou strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant hath commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left; in order that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 Não se aparte da tua bocca o livro d'esta lei; antes medita n'elle dia e noite, para que tenhas cuidado de fazer conforme a tudo quanto n'elle está escripto; porque então farás prosperar o teu caminho, e então prudentemente te conduzirás.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, in order that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then shalt thou make thy way prosperous, and then shalt thou have good success.
9 Não t'o mandei eu? esforça-te, e tem bom animo; não pasmes, nem te espantes: porque o Senhor teu Deus é comtigo, por onde quer que andares.
Behold, I have commanded thee, Be strong and of good courage; be not dismayed, neither be thou discouraged; for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
10 Então deu ordem Josué aos principes do povo, dizendo:
Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
11 Passae pelo meio do arraial, e ordenae ao povo, dizendo: Provei-vos de comida, porque dentro de tres dias passareis este Jordão, para que entreis a possuir a terra que vos dá o Senhor vosso Deus, que possuaes.
Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, Prepare yourselves provisions; for after only three days more ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God giveth you, to possess it.
12 E fallou Josué aos rubenitas, e aos gaditas, e á meia tribu de Manasseh, dizendo:
And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Menasseh, spoke Joshua, saying,
13 Lembrae-vos da palavra que vos mandou Moysés, o servo do Senhor, dizendo: O Senhor vosso Deus vos dá descanço, e vos dá esta terra.
Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, The Lord your God hath granted you rest, and hath given you this land;
14 Vossas mulheres, vossos meninos e vosso gado fiquem na terra que Moysés vos deu d'esta banda do Jordão; porém vós passareis armados na frente de vossos irmãos, todos os valentes e valorosos, e ajudal-os-heis;
Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan; but ye shall pass over armed before your brethren, all the mighty men of valor, and help them;
15 Até que o Senhor dê descanço a vossos irmãos, como a vós, e elles tambem possuam a terra que o Senhor vosso Deus lhes dá; então tornareis á terra da vossa herança, e possuireis a que vos deu Moysés, o servo do Senhor, d'esta banda do Jordão, para o nascente do sol.
Until the Lord shall have granted your brethren rest, as he hath done to you, and they also have taken possession of the land which the Lord your God giveth them: then shall ye return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you on this side of the Jordan, toward the rising of the sun.
16 Então responderam a Josué, dizendo: Tudo quanto nos ordenaste faremos, e onde quer que nos enviares iremos.
And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou hast commanded us will we do, and whithersoever thou wilt send us will we go.
17 Como em tudo ouvimos a Moysés, assim te ouviremos a ti: tão sómente que o Senhor teu Deus seja comtigo, como foi com Moysés.
Entirely so as we have hearkened unto Moses, thus will we hearken unto thee: only the Lord thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
18 Todo o homem, que fôr rebelde á tua bocca, e não ouvir as tuas palavras em tudo quanto lhe mandares, morrerá: tão sómente esforça-te, e tem bom animo.
Every man that doth rebel against thy order, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou mayest command him, shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
