Josué 22

1 Então Josué chamou os rubenitas, e os gaditas, e a meia tribu de Manasseh,

Then Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh,

2 E disse-lhes: Tudo quanto Moysés, o servo do Senhor, vos ordenou, guardastes: e á minha voz obedecestes em tudo quanto vos ordenei.

and said unto them: 'Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have hearkened unto my voice in all that I commanded you;

3 A vossos irmãos por tanto tempo até ao dia d'hoje não desamparastes: antes tivestes cuidado da guarda do mandamento do Senhor vosso Deus.

ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.

4 E agora o Senhor vosso Deus deu repouso a vossos irmãos, como lhes tinha promettido: voltae-vos pois agora, e ide-vos a vossas tendas, á terra da vossa possessão, que Moysés, o servo do Senhor, vos deu d'além do Jordão.

And now the LORD your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as He spoke unto them; therefore now turn ye, and get you unto your tents, unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan.

5 Tão sómente tende cuidado de guardar com diligencia o mandamento e a lei que Moysés, o servo do Senhor, vos mandou: que ameis ao Senhor vosso Deus, e andeis em todos os seus caminhos, e guardeis os seus mandamentos, e vos achegueis a elle, e o sirvaes com todo o vosso coração, e com toda a vossa alma

Only take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments, and to cleave unto Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.'

6 Assim Josué os abençoou; e despediu-os, e foram-se ás suas tendas.

So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away; and they went unto their tents.

7 Porquanto Moysés déra herança em Basan a meia tribu de Manasseh; porém á outra metade deu Josué entre seus irmãos, d'áquem do Jordão para o occidente; e enviando-os Josué tambem á suas tendas, os abençoou;

Now to the one half-tribe of Manasseh Moses had given inheritance in Bashan; but unto the other half gave Joshua among their brethren beyond the Jordan westward. Moreover when Joshua sent them away unto their tents, he blessed them,

8 E fallou-lhes, dizendo: Voltae-vos ás vossas tendas com grandes riquezas, e com muitissimo gado, com prata, e com oiro, e com metal, e com ferro, e com muitissimos vestidos: e com vossos irmãos reparti o despojo dos vossos inimigos.

and spoke unto them, saying: 'Return with much wealth unto your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.'

9 Assim os filhos de Ruben, e os filhos de Gad, e a meia tribu de Manasseh voltaram, e partiram dos filhos de Israel, de Silo, que está na terra de Canaan; para se irem á terra de Gilead, á terra da sua possessão, de que foram feitos possuidores, conforme ao dito do Senhor pelo ministerio de Moysés.

And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the land of Gilead, to the land of their possession, whereof they were possessed, according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

10 E, vindo elles aos limites do Jordão, que estão na terra de Canaan, ali os filhos de Ruben, e os filhos de Gad, e a meia tribu de Manasseh edificaram um altar junto ao Jordão, um altar de grande apparencia.

And when they came unto the region about the Jordan, that is in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by the Jordan, a great altar to look upon.

11 E ouviram os filhos d'Israel dizer: Eis que os filhos de Ruben, e os filhos de Gad, e a meia tribu de Manasseh edificaram um altar na frente da terra de Canaan, nos limites do Jordão, da banda dos filhos d'Israel.

And the children of Israel heard say: 'Behold, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have built an altar in the forefront of the land of Canaan, in the region about the Jordan, on the side that pertaineth to the children of Israel.'

12 O que os filhos d'Israel ouvindo, ajuntou-se toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel em Silo, para sairem contra elles em exercito.

And when the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up against them to war.

13 E enviaram os filhos de Israel aos filhos de Ruben, e aos filhos de Gad, e á meia tribu de Manasseh, para a terra de Gilead, a Phineas, filho de Eleazar, o sacerdote;

And the children of Israel sent unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest;

14 E a dez principes com elle, de cada casa paterna um principe, de todas as tribus de Israel: e cada um era Cabeça da casa de seus paes nos milhares de Israel.

and with him ten princes, one prince of a fathers' house for each of the tribes of Israel; and they were every one of them head of their fathers' houses among the thousands of Israel.

15 E, vindo elles, aos filhos de Ruben, e aos filhos de Gad, e á meia tribu de Manasseh, á terra de Gilead, fallaram com elles, dizendo:

And they came unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, unto the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying:

16 Assim diz toda a congregação do Senhor: Que transgressão é esta, com que transgredistes contra o Deus d'Israel, tornando-vos hoje d'após do Senhor, edificando-vos um altar, para vos rebellardes contra o Senhor?

'Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD: What treachery is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that ye have builded you an altar, to rebel this day against the LORD?

17 Foi-nos pouco a iniquidade de Peor? de que ainda até ao dia de hoje não estamos purificados, ainda que houve castigo na congregação do Senhor?

Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we have not cleansed ourselves unto this day, although there came a plague upon the congregation of the LORD,

18 E hoje vos tornaes d'após do Senhor: será que, rebellando-vos hoje contra o Senhor, ámanhã se irará contra toda a congregação de Israel

that ye must turn away this day from following the LORD? and it will be, seeing ye rebel to-day against the LORD, that to-morrow He will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.

19 Se é, porém, que a terra da vossa possessão é immunda, passae-vos para a terra da possessão do Senhor, onde habita o tabernaculo do Senhor, e tomae possessão entre nós: mas não vos rebelleis contra o Senhor, nem tão pouco vos rebelleis contra nós, edificando-vos um altar, afóra do altar do Senhor nosso Deus

Howbeit, if the land of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD'S tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us; but rebel not against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar besides the altar of the LORD our God.

20 Não commetteu Acan, filho de Zera, transgressão no tocante ao anathema? e não veiu ira sobre toda a congregação d'Israel? assim que aquelle homem não morreu só na sua iniquidade.

Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass concerning the devoted thing, and wrath fell upon all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.'

21 Então responderam os filhos de Ruben, e os filhos de Gad, e a meia tribu de Manasseh, e disseram aos Cabeças dos milhares de Israel:

Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh answered, and spoke unto the heads of the thousands of Israel:

22 O Deus dos deuses, o Senhor, elle o sabe, e Israel mesmo o saberá; se é por rebeldia, ou por transgressão contra o Senhor, hoje não nos preserve;

'God, God, the LORD, God, God, the LORD, He knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if it be in rebellion, or if in treachery against the LORD — save Thou us not this day —

23 Se nós edificámos altar para nos tornar d'após do Senhor, ou para sobre elle offerecer holocausto e offerta de manjares, ou sobre elle fazer offerta pacifica, o Senhor mesmo de nós o requeira.

that we have built us an altar to turn away from following the LORD; or if to offer thereon burnt-offering or meal-offering, or if to offer sacrifices of peace-offerings thereon, let the LORD Himself require it;

24 E, se o não fizemos por receio d'isto, dizendo: Amanhã vossos filhos virão a fallar a nossos filhos, dizendo: Que tendes vós com o Senhor Deus de Israel?

and if we have not rather out of anxiety about a matter done this, saying: In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying: What have ye to do with the LORD, the God of Israel?

25 Pois o Senhor poz o Jordão por termo entre nós e vós, ó filhos de Ruben, e filhos de Gad; não tendes parte no Senhor: e assim bem poderiam vossos filhos fazer desistir a nossos filhos de temer ao Senhor.

for the LORD hath made the Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no portion in the LORD; so might your children make our children cease from fearing the LORD.

26 Pelo que dissemos: Façamos agora, e nos edifiquemos um altar: não para holocausto, nem para sacrificio,

Therefore we said: Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt-offering, nor for sacrifice;

27 Mas para que entre nós e vós, e entre as nossas gerações depois de nós, nos seja em testemunho, para podermos exercitar o serviço do Senhor diante d'elle com os nossos holocaustos, e com os nossos sacrificios, e com as nossas offertas pacificas: e para que vossos filhos não digam ámanhã a nossos filhos: Não tendes parte no Senhor

but it shall be a witness between us and you, and between our generations after us, that we may do the service of the LORD before Him with our burnt-offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace-offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come: Ye have no portion in the LORD.

28 Pelo que dissemos: Quando fôr que ámanhã assim nos digam a nós e ás nossas gerações, então diremos: Vêde o modelo do altar do Senhor que fizeram nossos paes, não para holocausto nem para sacrificio, porém para ser testemunho entre nós e vós.

Therefore said we: It shall be, when they so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we shall say: Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt-offering, nor for sacrifice; but it is a witness between us and you.

29 Nunca tal nos aconteça, que nos rebellassemos contra o Senhor, ou que hoje nos tornassemos d'após do Senhor, edificando altar para holocausto, offerta de manjares ou sacrificio, fóra do altar do Senhor nosso Deus, que está perante o seu tabernaculo.

Far be it from us that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn away this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt-offering, for meal-offering, or for sacrifice, besides the altar of the LORD our God that is before His tabernacle.'

30 Ouvindo pois Phineas, o sacerdote, e os principes da congregação, e os Cabeças dos milhares de Israel, que com elle estavam, as palavras que disseram os filhos de Ruben, e os filhos de Gad, e os filhos de Manasseh, pareceu bem aos seus olhos.

And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation, even the heads of the thousands of Israel that were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them well.

31 E disse Phineas, filho de Eleazar, o sacerdote, aos filhos de Ruben, e aos filhos de Gad, e aos filhos de Manasseh: Hoje sabemos que o Senhor está no meio de nós; porquanto não commettestes transgressão contra o Senhor: agora livrastes os filhos de Israel da mão do Senhor.

And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh: 'This day we know that the LORD is in the midst of us, because ye have not committed this treachery against the LORD; now have ye delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.'

32 E tornou-se Phineas, filho de Eleazar, o sacerdote, com os principes, de com os filhos de Ruben, e de com os filhos de Gad, da terra de Gilead á terra de Canaan, aos filhos de Israel: e trouxeram-lhes a resposta.

And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them back word.

33 E pareceu a resposta boa aos olhos dos filhos d'Israel, e os filhos d'Israel louvaram a Deus: e não fallaram mais de subir contra elles em exercito, para destruirem a terra em que habitavam os filhos de Ruben e os filhos de Gad.

And the thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and spoke no more of going up against them to war, to destroy the land wherein the children of Reuben and the children of Gad dwelt.

34 E os filhos de Ruben e os filhos de Gad pozeram ao altar o nome Ed: para que seja testemunho entre nós que o Senhor é Deus.

And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar —: 'for it is a witness between us that the LORD is God.'
