Jonas 3
1 E veiu a palavra do Senhor segunda vez a Jonas, dizendo:
And the word of the Lord was maad the secounde tyme to Jonas, and seide, Rise thou,
2 Levanta-te, e vae á grande cidade de Ninive, e prega contra ella a prégação que eu te digo.
and go in to Nynyue, the greet citee, and preche thou in it the prechyng which Y speke to thee.
3 E levantou-se Jonas, e foi a Ninive, segundo a palavra do Senhor: era pois Ninive uma grande cidade de Deus, de tres dias de caminho.
And Jonas roos, and wente in to Nynyue, bi the word of the Lord. And Nynyue was a greet citee, of the iurnei of thre daies.
4 E começava Jonas a entrar pela cidade caminho d'um dia, e prégava, e dizia: Ainda quarenta dias, e Ninive será subvertida.
And Jonas bigan for to entre in to the citee, bi the iornei of o dai, and criede, and seide, Yit fourti daies, and Nynyue schal be `turned vpsodoun.
5 E os homens de Ninive creram em Deus; e proclamaram um jejum, e vestiram-se de sacco, desde o maior até ao menor.
And men of Nynyue bileueden to the Lord, and prechiden fastyng, and weren clothid with sackis, fro the more `til to the lesse.
6 Porque esta palavra chegou ao rei de Ninive, e levantou-se do seu throno, e tirou de si os seus vestidos, e cobriu-se de sacco, e assentou-se sobre a cinza.
And the word cam til to the kyng of Nynyue; and he roos of his seete, and castide awei his clothing fro him, and was clothid with a sak, and sat in aische.
7 E fez apregoar, e fallou-se em Ninive, pelo mandado do rei e dos seus grandes, dizendo: Nem homens, nem animaes, nem bois, nem ovelhas provem coisa alguma, nem se lhes dê pasto, nem bebam agua.
And he criede, and seide in Nynyue of the mouth of the kyng and of `his princis, `and seide, Men, and werk beestis, and oxun, and scheep taaste not ony thing, nether be fed, nether drynke watir.
8 Mas os homens e os animaes estarão cobertos de saccos, e clamarão fortemente a Deus, e se converterão, cada um do seu mau caminho, e da violencia que ha nas suas mãos.
And men be hilid with sackis, and werk beestis crie to the Lord in strengthe; `and be a man conuertid fro his yuel weie, and fro wickidnesse that is in the hondis of hem.
9 Quem sabe se se voltará Deus, e se arrependerá, e se apartará do furor da sua ira, de sorte que não pereçamos?
Who woot, if God be conuertid, and foryyue, and be turned ayen fro woodnesse of his wraththe, and we schulen not perische?
10 E Deus viu as obras d'elles, como se converteram do seu mau caminho: e Deus se arrependeu do mal que tinha dito lhes faria, e não o fez.
And God sai the werkis of hem, that thei weren conuertid fro her yuel weie; and God hadde merci on the malice which he spac, that he schulde do to hem, and did not.
