João 5
1 Depois d'isto havia uma festa entre os judeos, e Jesus subiu a Jerusalem.
After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Ora em Jerusalem ha, proximo á porta das ovelhas, um tanque, chamado em hebreo Bethesda, o qual tem cinco alpendres.
Now there is at Jerusalem near the sheep-market a pool, called in Hebrew Bethesda, with five porticos about it.
3 N'este jazia grande multidão de enfermos; cegos, mancos e resicados, esperando o movimento das aguas.
In these lay a great number of people that were infirm, blind, lame, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 Porque um anjo descia em certo tempo ao tanque, e agitava a agua; e o primeiro que ali descia, depois do movimento da agua, sarava de qualquer enfermidade que tivesse.
For an angel descended at a certain season into the pool, and moved the water; the first therefore that went in after the disturbing of the water, was cured of whatever malady he laboured under.
5 E estava ali um certo homem que, havia trinta e oito annos, se achava enfermo.
And there was a man who had been under illness thirty eight years.
6 E Jesus, vendo este deitado, e, sabendo que estava n'este estado havia muito tempo, disse-lhe: Queres ficar são?
Jesus seeing him lie there, and knowing that he had been now a long time ill, saith unto him, Dost thou desire to be cured?
7 O enfermo respondeu-lhe: Senhor, não tenho homem algum que, quando a agua é agitada, me metta no tanque; mas, emquanto eu vou, desce outro adiante de mim.
The infirm man answered Him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is moved, to put me into the pool; but while I am coming, another goes down before me.
8 Jesus disse-lhe: Levanta-te, toma a tua cama, e anda.
Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 Logo aquelle homem ficou são; e tomou a sua cama, e partiu. E aquelle dia era sabbado.
And immediately the man was cured: and he took up his bed and walked.
10 Depois os judeos disseram áquelle que tinha sido curado: É sabbado, não te é licito levar a cama.
Now this was the sabbath-day, therefore the Jews said to him that was cured, It is the sabbath, it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
11 Elle respondeu-lhes: Aquelle que me curou, esse disse: Toma a tua cama, e anda.
He answered them, He, that made me well, said unto me, Take up thy bed and walk.
12 Perguntaram-lhe pois: Quem é o homem que te disse: Toma a tua cama, e anda?
Therefore they asked him, Who is the man that said to thee, Take up thy bed and walk?
13 E o que fôra curado não sabia quem era; porque Jesus se havia retirado, porquanto n'aquelle logar havia grande multidão.
but he, that was healed, did not know who it was: for Jesus had withdrawn himself, there being many people in the place.
14 Depois Jesus encontrou-o no templo, e disse-lhe: Eis que já estás são; não peques mais, para que te não succeda alguma coisa peior.
Afterwards Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, thou art healed; sin no more, least something worse befal thee.
15 E aquelle homem foi, e annunciou aos judeos que Jesus era o que o curára.
And the man went away, and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had healed him.
16 E por isso os judeos perseguiram a Jesus, e procuravam matal-o; porque fazia estas coisas no sabbado.
And for this did the Jews persecute Jesus, and endeavoured to put Him to death; because He had done these things on the sabbath-day.
17 E Jesus lhes respondeu: Meu Pae obra até agora, e eu obro tambem.
But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh without intermission, and so do I.
18 Por isso pois os judeos ainda mais procuravam matal-o, porque não só quebrantava o sabbado, mas tambem dizia que Deus era seu proprio Pae, fazendo-se egual a Deus.
For this therefore the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He had not only broken the sabbath, but had also called God his own Father, making Himself equal with God.
19 Mas Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhes: Na verdade, na verdade vos digo que o Filho por si mesmo não pode fazer coisa alguma, se o não vir fazer ao Pae; porque tudo quanto elle faz o Filho o faz egualmente.
Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Verily, verily I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the Father do: for whatsoever He doth, these also the Son doth in like manner.
20 Porque o Pae ama o Filho, e mostra-lhe todas as coisas que faz; e elle lhe mostrará maiores obras do que estas, para que vos maravilheis.
For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth Him all things, which He Himself doth: and He will shew Him greater than these, that ye may wonder.
21 Porque, como o Pae resuscita os mortos, e os vivifica, assim tambem o Filho vivifica aquelles que quer.
For as the Father raiseth up the dead and giveth life: even so the Son maketh alive whom He pleaseth.
22 Porque tambem o Pae a ninguem julga, mas deu ao Filho todo o juizo;
For neither doth the Father judge any one, but hath committed all judgement to the Son;
23 Para que todos honrem o Filho, como honram o Pae. Quem não honra o Filho, não honra o Pae que o enviou.
that all men may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father: he, that honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father that sent Him.
24 Na verdade, na verdade vos digo que quem ouve a minha palavra, e crê n'aquelle que me enviou, tem a vida eterna, e não entrará em condemnação, mas passou da morte para a vida (aiōnios g166)
Verily, verily I say unto you, he, that heareth my word, and believeth in Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come under condemnation; but is passed from death to life. (aiōnios g166)
25 Em verdade, em verdade vos digo que vem a hora, e agora é, em que os mortos ouvirão a voz do Filho de Deus, e os que a ouvirem viverão.
Verily, verily I tell you, that the time is coming, and even now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live.
26 Porque, como o Pae tem a vida em si mesmo, assim deu tambem ao Filho ter a vida em si mesmo.
For as the Father hath life in Himself, so hath He given also to the Son to have life in Himself.
27 E deu-lhe o poder de exercer o juizo, porque é o Filho do homem.
And hath given Him authority also to execute judgement, because He is the Son of man.
28 Não vos maravilheis d'isto; porque vem a hora em que todos os que estão nos sepulchros ouvirão a sua voz.
Wonder not at this; for the time is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 E os que fizeram o bem sairão para a resurreição da vida; e os que fizeram o mal para a resurreição da condemnação.
and shall come forth, they that have done good to the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil to the resurrection of damnation.
30 Eu não posso de mim mesmo fazer coisa alguma: como ouço, assim julgo; e o meu juizo é justo, porque não busco a minha vontade, mas a vontade do Pae que me enviou.
I can do nothing of my self: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father that hath sent me.
31 Se eu testifico de mim mesmo, o meu testemunho não é verdadeiro.
If I alone bear witness of my self, my testimony is not true in law:
32 Ha outro que testifica de mim, e sei que o testemunho que elle dá de mim é verdadeiro.
but there is another who testifieth concerning me; and I know that the testimony, which he giveth concerning me, is true.
33 Vós mandastes a João, e elle deu testemunho da verdade.
Ye your selves sent unto John, and he bore witness to the truth:
34 Eu, porém, não recebo testemunho de homem; mas digo isto, para que vos salveis.
though I need not testimony from man; but I say these things that ye may be saved.
35 Elle era a candeia ardente e resplandecente; e vós quizestes alegrar-vos por um pouco de tempo com a sua luz.
He was indeed a burning and shining light, and for a while ye willingly rejoiced in his light.
36 Mas eu tenho maior testemunho do que o de João; porque as obras que o Pae me deu que cumprisse, as mesmas obras que eu faço, testificam de mim, que o Pae me enviou.
But I have a testimony greater than John's: for the works which the Father hath given me to perform, the very works which I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 E o Pae, que me enviou, elle mesmo testificou de mim. Vós nunca ouvistes a sua voz, nem vistes o seu parecer;
And the Father who sent me, hath Himself borne witness of me: and yet ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.
38 E a sua palavra não permanece em vós; porque n'aquelle que elle enviou não crêdes vós
And ye have not his word abiding in you; because ye believe not Him, whom He hath sent.
39 Examinae as Escripturas; porque vós cuidaes ter n'ellas a vida eterna, e são ellas que de mim testificam. (aiōnios g166)
Ye search the scriptures; for ye think that in them ye have eternal life: (aiōnios g166)
40 E não quereis vir a mim para terdes vida.
and they testify of me: and yet ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.
41 Eu não recebo a honra dos homens;
Though I desire not applause from men:
42 Mas bem vos conheço, que não tendes em vós o amor de Deus.
but I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 Eu vim em nome de meu Pae, e não me acceitaes; se outro vier em seu proprio nome, a esse acceitareis.
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another should come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 Como podeis vós crêr, recebendo honra uns dos outros, e não buscando a honra que vem só de Deus?
How can ye believe, who receive applause from each other, and the glory which is from God only, ye seek not?
45 Não cuideis que eu vos hei de accusar para com o Pae. Ha um que vos accusa, Moysés, em quem vós esperaes.
Think not that I shall accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 Porque, se vós cresseis em Moysés, crerieis em mim; porque de mim escreveu elle.
For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote concerning me:
47 Porém, se não crêdes nos seus escriptos, como crereis nas minhas palavras?
but if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
