1 Chama agora; ha alguem que te responda? e para qual dos sanctos te virarás?
Call if you want, but who is going to answer you? Which angel are you going to turn to?
2 Porque a ira destroe o louco; e o zelo mata o tolo.
Surely anger slays the fool and jealousy kills the simple.
3 Bem vi eu o louco lançar raizes; porém logo amaldiçoei a sua habitação.
I have seen a fool growing strong, but I immediately cursed his house.
4 Seus filhos estão longe da salvação; e são despedaçados ás portas, e não ha quem os livre.
His sons are never safe; they are crushed in court with no one to defend them.
5 A sua sega a devora o faminto, e até d'entre os espinhos a tira; e o salteador traga a sua fazenda.
The hungry eat everything he has harvested, taking even that protected by a thorn hedge, while others look to steal his wealth.
6 Porque do pó não procede a afflicção, nem da terra brota o trabalho.
For evil doesn't come from the dust; neither does trouble grow from the earth.
7 Mas o homem nasce para o trabalho, como as faiscas das brazas se levantam para voarem.
But human beings are born for trouble just as certainly as sparks from a fire fly upwards.
8 Porém eu buscaria a Deus; e a Elle dirigiria a minha falla.
If it were me, I would go to God and put my case before him.
9 Elle faz coisas tão grandiosas, que se não podem esquadrinhar; e tantas maravilhas, que se não podem contar.
He is the one who does amazing, incredible things; miracles that can't be counted!
10 Que dá a chuva sobre a terra, e envia aguas sobre os campos,
He gives rain to the earth and sends water to the fields.
11 Para pôr aos abatidos n'um logar alto: e para que os enlutados se exaltem na salvação.
He exalts the humble, and rescues those who mourn.
12 Elle aniquila as imaginações dos astutos, para que as suas mãos não possam levar coisa alguma a effeito.
He frustrates the plans of the cunning so that they are unsuccessful.
13 Elle apanha os sabios na sua propria astucia; e o conselho dos perversos se precipita.
He traps the wise in their own clever thinking, and the schemes of twisted people are cut short.
14 Elles de dia encontrem as trevas; e ao meio dia andem como de noite, ás apalpadelas.
In the daytime they're in the dark, and they stumble around at noon like it's night.
15 Porém ao necessitado livra da espada, e da bocca d'elles, e da mão do forte.
But God is the one who saves from their cutting remarks, and the poor from the actions of the powerful.
16 Assim ha esperança para o pobre; e a iniquidade tapa a sua bocca.
As a result those who are helpless have hope, and the wicked have to shut their mouths!
17 Eis que bemaventurado é o homem a quem Deus castiga; pois não desprezes o castigo do Todo-poderoso.
See how happy is the person God corrects—so don't despise the Almighty's discipline.
18 Porque elle faz a chaga, e elle mesmo a liga: elle fere, e as suas mãos curam.
For he causes pain but he provides relief; he wounds but his hands heal.
19 Em seis angustias te livrará; e na setima o mal te não tocará.
He will save you from many disasters; a multitude of evils will not affect you.
20 Na fome te livrará da morte; e na guerra da violencia da espada.
In times of famine he will rescue you from death, and in times of war he will save you from the power of the sword.
21 Do açoite da lingua estarás encoberto; e não temerás a assolação, quando vier.
You will be protected from sharp-tongued slander; and when violence comes you will not be afraid.
22 Da assolação e da fome te rirás, e os animaes da terra não temerás.
You will laugh at violence and famine; you won't be afraid of wild animals—
23 Porque até com as pedras do campo terás a tua alliança; e os animaes do campo serão pacificos comtigo.
for you will be at peace with the stones of the field and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
24 E saberás que a tua tenda está em paz; e visitarás a tua habitação, e não falharás.
You will be certain that your home is safe, for you will go to where you live and find nothing missing.
25 Tambem saberás que se multiplicará a tua semente e a tua posteridade como a herva da terra.
You will also be sure that you will have many children; your descendants will be like the grass of the earth.
26 Na velhice virás á sepultura, como se recolhe o feixe de trigo a seu tempo.
You will live to a ripe old age like a sheaf of grain when it is harvested.
27 Eis que isto já o havemos inquirido, e assim é; ouve-o, e medita n'isso para teu bem.
