Jó 40
1 Respondeu mais o Senhor a Job e disse:
Moreover Jehovah answered Job, and said,
2 Porventura o contender contra o Todo-poderoso é ensinar? quem quer reprehender a Deus, responda a estas coisas.
Shall he who quibbles contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.
3 Então Job respondeu ao Senhor, e disse:
Then Job answered Jehovah, and said,
4 Eis que sou vil; que te responderia eu? a minha mão ponho na minha bocca.
Behold, I am of small account. What shall I answer thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth.
5 Já uma vez tenho fallado, porém mais não responderei: ou ainda duas vezes, porém não proseguirei.
I have spoken once, and I will not answer, yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.
6 Então o Senhor respondeu a Job desde a tempestade, e disse:
Then Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Ora, pois, cinge os teus lombos como varão; eu te perguntarei a ti, e tu ensina-me.
Gird up thy loins now like a man. I will demand of thee, and declare thou to me.
8 Porventura tambem farás tu vão o meu juizo? ou tu me condemnarás, para te justificares?
Will thou even annul my judgment? Will thou condemn me, that thou may be justified?
9 Ou tens braço como Deus? ou podes trovejar com voz como a sua?
Or have thou an arm like God? And can thou thunder with a voice like him?
10 Orna-te pois com excellencia e alteza; e veste-te de magestade e de gloria.
Deck thyself now with excellency and dignity, and array thyself with honor and majesty.
11 Derrama os furores da tua ira, e attenta para todo o soberbo, e abate-o.
Pour forth the overflowings of thine anger, and look upon everyone who is proud, and abase him.
12 Olha para todo o soberbo, e humilha-o, e atropella os impios no seu logar.
Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low, and tread down the wicked where they stand.
13 Esconde-os juntamente no pó: ata-lhes os rostos em occulto.
Hide them in the dust together. Bind their faces in the hidden place.
14 Então tambem eu a ti confessarei que a tua mão direita te haverá livrado.
Then I will also confess of thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
15 Vês aqui a Behemoth, que eu fiz comtigo, que come a herva como o boi.
Behold now behemoth, which I made as well as thee. He eats grass as an ox.
16 Eis que a sua força está nos seus lombos, e o seu poder no umbigo do seu ventre.
Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the muscles of his belly.
17 Quando quer, move a sua cauda como cedro: os nervos das suas coxas estão entretecidos.
He moves his tail like a cedar. The sinews of his thighs are knit together.
18 Os seus ossos são como coxas de bronze: a sua ossada é como barras de ferro.
His bones are as tubes of brass. His limbs are like bars of iron.
19 Elle é obra prima dos caminhos de Deus: o que o fez lhe apegou a sua espada.
He is a beginning of the ways of God. He who made him gives him his sword.
20 Em verdade os montes lhe produzem pasto, onde todos os animaes do campo folgam.
Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21 Deita-se debaixo das arvores sombrias, no esconderijo das canas e da lama.
He lies under the lotus trees, in the covert of the reed, and the fen.
22 As arvores sombrias o cobrem, com sua sombra: os salgueiros do ribeiro o cercam.
The lotus trees cover him with their shade. The willows of the brook encompass him about.
23 Eis que um rio trasborda, e elle não se apressa, confiando que o Jordão possa entrar na sua bocca.
Behold, if a river overflows, he does not tremble. He is confident though a Jordan swell even to his mouth.
24 Podel-o-hiam porventura caçar á vista de seus olhos? ou com laços lhe furar os narizes?
Shall any take him when he is on the watch, or pierce through his nose with a snare?
