Jó 36
1 Proseguiu ainda Elihu, e disse:
Eliu also proceeded, and said:
2 Espera-me um pouco, e mostrar-te-hei que ainda ha razões a favor de Deus.
Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee: for I have yet somewhat to speak in God’s behalf.
3 Desde longe repetirei a minha opinião; e ao meu Creador attribuirei a justiça.
I will repeat my knowledge from the beginning, and I will prove my Maker just.
4 Porque na verdade, as minhas palavras não serão falsas: comtigo está um que é sincero na sua opinião.
For indeed my words are without a lie, and perfect knowledge shall be proved to thee.
5 Eis que Deus é mui grande, comtudo a ninguem despreza: grande é em força de coração.
God doth not cast away the mighty, whereas he himself also is mighty.
6 Não deixa viver ao impio, e faz justiça aos afflictos.
But he saveth not the wicked, and he giveth judgment to the poor.
7 Do justo não tira os seus olhos; antes estão com os reis no throno; ali os assenta para sempre, e assim são exaltados.
He will not take away his eyes from the just, and he placeth kings on the throne for ever, and they are exalted.
8 E, se estando presos em grilhões, os detem amarrados com cordas de afflicção,
And if they shall be in chains, and be bound with the cords of poverty:
9 Então lhes faz saber a obra d'elles, e as suas transgressões; porquanto prevaleceram n'ellas.
He shall shew them their works, and their wicked deeds, because they have been violent.
10 E revela-lh'o aos seus ouvidos, para seu ensino; e diz-lhes que se convertam da maldade.
He also shall open their ear, to correct them: and shall speak, that they may return from iniquity.
11 Se o ouvirem, e o servirem, acabarão seus dias em bem, e os seus annos em delicias.
If they shall hear and observe, they shall accomplish their days in good, and their years in glory.
12 Porém se o não ouvirem, á espada os passarão, e expirarão sem conhecimento.
But if they hear not, they shall pass by the sword, and shall be consumed in folly.
13 E os hypocritas de coração amontoam para si a ira; e amarrando-os elle, não clamam por soccorro.
Dissemblers and crafty men prove the wrath of God, neither shall they cry when they are bound.
14 A sua alma morre na mocidade, e a sua vida entre os sodomitas.
Their soul shall die in a storm, and their life among the effeminate.
15 Ao afflicto livra, da sua afflicção, e na oppressão o revelará aos seus ouvidos.
He shall deliver the poor out of his distress, and shall open his ear in affliction.
16 Assim tambem te desviará da bocca da angustia para um logar espaçoso, em que não haja aperto, e as iguarias da tua mesa serão cheias de gordura.
Therefore he shall set thee at large out of the narrow mouth, and which hath no foundation under it: and the rest of thy table shall be full of fatness.
17 E estarás satisfeito com o juizo do impio: o juizo e a justiça te sustentarão.
Thy cause hath been judged as that of the wicked, cause and judgment thou shalt recover.
18 Porquanto ha furor, guarda-te de que porventura te não tire de pancada, pois por grande preço te não poderiam retirar d'ali.
Therefore let not anger overcome thee to oppress any man: neither let multitude of gifts turn thee aside.
19 Estimaria elle tanto tuas riquezas, ou alguns esforços da força, que por isso não estivesses em aperto?
Lay down thy greatness without tribulation, and all the mighty of strength.
20 Não suspires pela noite, em que os povos sejam tomados do seu logar.
Prolong not the night that people may come up for them.
21 Guarda-te, e não declines para a iniquidade: porquanto n'isto a escolheste, por causa da tua miseria.
Beware thou turn not aside to iniquity: for this thou hast begun to follow after misery.
22 Eis que Deus exalta com a sua força; quem ensina como elle?
Behold, God is high in his strength, and none is like him among the lawgivers.
23 Quem lhe pedirá conta do seu caminho? ou, quem lhe disse: Tu commetteste maldade?
Who can search out his ways? or who can say to him: Thou has wrought iniquity?
24 Lembra-te de que engrandeças a sua obra que os homens contemplam.
Remember that thou knowest not his work, concerning which men have sung.
25 Todos os homens a veem, e o homem a enxerga de longe.
All men see him, every one beholdeth afar off.
26 Eis que Deus é grande, e nós o não comprehendemos, e o numero dos seus annos se não pode esquadrinhar.
Behold, God is great, exceeding our knowledge: the number of his years is inestimable.
27 Porque faz miudas as gottas das aguas que derramam a chuva do seu vapor.
He lifteth up the drops of rain, and poureth out showers like floods:
28 A qual as nuvens distillam e gotejam sobre o homem abundantemente.
Which flow from the clouds that cover all above.
29 Porventura tambem se poderão entender as extensões das nuvens, e os estalos da sua tenda?
If he will spread out clouds as his tent,
30 Eis que estende sobre ellas a sua luz, e encobre os altos do mar.
And lighten with his light from above, he shall cover also the ends of the sea.
31 Porque por estas coisas julga os povos e lhes dá mantimento em abundancia.
For by these he judgeth people, and giveth food to many mortals.
32 Com as mãos encobre a luz, e faz-lhe prohibição pela que passa por entre ellas.
In his hands he hideth the light, and commandeth it to come again.
33 O que dá a entender o seu pensamento, como tambem aos gados, ácerca do temporal que sobe.
He sheweth his friend concerning it, that it is his possession, and that he may come up to it.
