Jó 34
1 Respondeu mais Elihu, e disse:
Moreover Elihu answered,
2 Ouvi, vós, sabios, as minhas razões: e vós, entendidos, inclinae, os ouvidos para mim.
"Hear my words, you sages. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.
3 Porque o ouvido prova as palavras, como o paladar gosta a comida.
For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.
4 O que é direito escolhamos para nós: e conheçamos entre nós o que é bom.
Let us choose for us that which is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good.
5 Porque Job disse: Sou justo; e Deus tirou o meu direito.
For Job has said, 'I am righteous, God has taken away my right:
6 No meu direito me é forçoso mentir: dolorosa é a minha frecháda sem transgressão.
Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.'
7 Que homem ha como Job, que bebe a zombaria como agua?
What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,
8 E caminha em companhia com os que obram a iniquidade, e anda com homens impios?
Who goes in company with evildoers, and walks with wicked men?
9 Porque disse: De nada aproveita ao homem o comprazer-se em Deus.
For he has said, 'It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.'
10 Pelo que vós, homens d'entendimento, escutae-me: Deus esteja longe da impiedade, e o Todo-poderoso da perversidade!
"Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from Shaddai, that he should commit iniquity.
11 Porque, segundo a obra do homem, elle lh'o paga; e segundo o caminho de cada um lh'o faz achar.
For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12 Tambem, na verdade, Deus não obra impiamente; nem o Todo-poderoso perverte o juizo.
Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will Shaddai pervert justice.
13 Quem lhe pedia conta do governo da terra? e quem dispoz a todo o mundo?
Who put him in charge of the earth? or who has appointed him over the whole world?
14 Se pozesse o seu coração contra elle, recolheria para si o seu espirito e o seu folego.
If he set his heart on himself, If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,
15 Toda a carne juntamente expiraria, e o homem se voltaria para o pó.
all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.
16 Se pois ha em ti entendimento, ouve isto; inclina os ouvidos á voz do meu discurso.
"If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.
17 Porventura o que aborrece o direito ataria as feridas? e tu condemnarias aquelle que é justo?
Shall even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty?—
18 Ou dir-se-ha a um rei, Oh! Belial? aos principes, Oh! impios?
Who says to a king, 'Vile.' or to nobles, 'Wicked.'?
19 Quanto menos áquelle, que não faz accepção das pessoas de principes, nem estima o rico mais do que o pobre; porque todos são obras de suas mãos
Who doesn't respect the persons of princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.
20 Elles n'um momento morrem; e até á meia noite os povos são perturbados, e passam, e o poderoso será tomado sem mão
In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.
21 Porque os seus olhos estão sobre os caminhos de cada um, e elle vê todos os seus passos.
"For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.
22 Não ha trevas nem sombra de morte, onde se escondam os que obram a iniquidade.
There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where evildoers may hide themselves.
23 Porque não se faz tanto caso do homem que contra Deus possa entrar em juizo.
For he doesn't need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment.
24 Quebranta aos fortes, sem que se possa inquirir, e põe outros em seu logar.
He breaks in pieces mighty men in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.
25 Elle conhece pois as suas obras, de noite os transtorna, e ficam moidos.
Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26 Elle os bate como impios que são, no logar dos expectadores:
He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27 Porquanto se desviaram d'atraz d'elle, e não comprehenderam nenhum de seus caminhos.
because they turned aside from following him, and wouldn't pay attention to any of his ways,
28 Para fazer que o clamor do pobre subisse até elle, e que ouvisse o clamor dos afflictos.
so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.
29 Se elle aquietar, quem então inquietará? se encobrir o rosto, quem então o poderá contemplar, seja para com um povo, seja para com um homem só?
When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? Alike whether to a nation, or to a man,
30 Para que o homem hypocrita nunca mais reine, e não haja laços do povo.
that the godless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.
31 Na verdade, quem a Deus disse: Supportei castigo, não perecerei.
"For has any said to God, 'I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.
32 O que não vejo, ensina-m'o tu: se fiz alguma maldade, nunca mais a hei de fazer.
Teach me that which I do not see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more'?
33 Virá de ti como o recompensará, pois tu o desprezas? farias tu pois, e não eu, a escolha: que é logo o que sabes? falla.
Shall his recompense be as you desire, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I. Therefore speak what you know.
34 Os homens de entendimento dirão comigo, e o varão sabio me ouvirá.
Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:
35 Job fallou sem sciencia; e ás suas palavras falta prudencia.
'Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.'
36 Pae meu! provado seja Job até ao fim, para as suas respostas entre os homens malignos.
I wish that Job were tried to the end, because of his answering like wicked men.
37 Porque ao seu peccado accrescenta a transgressão; entre nós bateria as palmas das mãos, e multiplicaria contra Deus as suas razões.
For he adds rebellion to his sin. He claps his hands among us, and multiplies his words against God."
