Jó 13
1 Eis que tudo isto viram os meus olhos, e os meus ouvidos o ouviram e entenderam.
Lo, mine eye hath seen all [this], mine ear hath heard and understood it.
2 Como vós o sabeis, o sei eu tambem; não vos sou inferior.
What ye know, [the same] do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.
3 Mas eu fallarei ao Todo-poderoso, e quero defender-me para com Deus.
Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
4 Vós porém sois inventores de mentiras, e vós todos medicos que não valem nada.
But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.
5 Oxalá vos calasseis de todo! que isso seria a vossa sabedoria.
Oh that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.
6 Ouvi agora a minha defeza, e escutae os argumentos dos meus labios.
Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.
7 Porventura por Deus fallareis perversidade? e por elle fallareis engano?
Will ye speak unrighteously for God, and talk deceitfully for him?
8 Ou fareis acceitação da sua pessoa? ou contendereis por Deus?
Will ye respect his person? will ye contend for God?
9 Ser-vos-hia bom, se elle vos esquadrinhasse? ou zombareis d'elle, como se zomba d'algum homem?
Is it good that he should search you out? or as one deceiveth a man, will ye deceive him?
10 Certamente vos reprehenderá, se em occulto fizerdes acceitação de pessoas.
He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly respect persons.
11 Porventura não vos espantará a sua alteza? e não cairá sobre vós o seu temor?
Shall not his excellency make you afraid, and his dread fall upon you?
12 As vossas memorias são como a cinza: as vossas alturas como alturas de lodo.
Your memorable sayings [are] proverbs of ashes, your defences [are] defences of clay.
13 Calae-vos perante mim, e fallarei eu, e que fique alliviado algum tanto.
Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what wilt.
14 Por que razão tomo eu a minha carne com os meus dentes, e ponho a minha vida na minha mão?
Wherefore should I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?
15 Ainda que me matasse, n'elle esperarei; comtudo os meus caminhos defenderei diante d'elle.
Though he slay me, yet will I wait for him: nevertheless I will maintain my ways before him.
16 Tambem elle será a salvação minha: porém o hypocrita não virá perante o seu rosto
This also shall be my salvation; for a godless man shall not come before him.
17 Ouvi com attenção as minhas razões, e com os vossos ouvidos a minha declaração.
Hear diligently my speech, and let my declaration be in your ears.
18 Eis que já tenho ordenado a minha causa, e sei que serei achado justo.
Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I am righteous.
19 Quem é o que contenderá comigo? se eu agora me calasse, daria o espirito.
Who is he that will contend with me? for now shall I hold my peace and give up the ghost.
20 Duas coisas sómente não faças para comigo; então me não esconderei do teu rosto:
Only do not two things unto me, then will I not hide myself from thy face:
21 Desvia a tua mão para longe, de sobre mim, e não me espante o teu terror.
Withdraw thine hand far from me; and let not thy terror make me afraid.
22 Chama, pois, e eu responderei; ou eu fallarei, e tu responde-me.
Then call thou, and I will answer; or let me speak, and answer thou me.
23 Quantas culpas e peccados tenho eu? notifica-me a minha transgressão e o meu peccado.
How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.
24 Porque escondes o teu rosto, e me tens por teu inimigo?
Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?
25 Porventura quebrantarás a folha arrebatada do vento? e perseguirás o restolho secco?
Wilt thou harass a driven leaf? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?
26 Porque escreves contra mim amarguras e me fazes herdar as culpas da minha mocidade?
For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to inherit the iniquities of my youth:
27 Tambem pões no tronco os meus pés, e observas todos os meus caminhos, e marcas as solas dos meus pés.
Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and markest all my paths; thou drawest thee a line about the soles of my feet:
28 Envelhecendo-se entretanto elle com a podridão, e como o vestido, ao qual roe a traça.
Though I am like a rotten thing that consumeth, like a garment that is moth-eaten.
