Jeremias 8
1 N'aquelle tempo, diz o Senhor, tirarão os ossos dos reis de Judah, e os ossos dos seus principes, e os ossos dos sacerdotes, e os ossos dos prophetas, e os ossos dos habitantes de Jerusalem para fóra das suas sepulturas;
At that time, saith the Lord, they shall cast out the bones of the kings of Juda, and the bones of the princes thereof, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves.
2 E expôl-os-hão ao sol, e á lua, e a todo o exercito do céu, a quem tinham amado, e a quem tinham servido, e após quem tinham ido, e a quem tinham buscado e diante de quem se tinham prostrado: não serão recolhidos nem sepultados; serão por esterco sobre a face da terra.
And they shall spread them abroad to the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and adored: they shall not be gathered, and they shall not be buried: they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth.
3 E escolher-se-ha antes a morte do que a vida de todo o resto dos que restarem d'esta raça maligna, em todos os logares dos que restam, onde os lancei, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos.
And death shall be chosen rather than life by all that shall remain of this wicked kindred in all places, which are left, to which I have cast them out, saith the Lord of hosts.
4 Dize-lhes mais: Assim diz o Senhor: Porventura cairão e não se tornarão a levantar? desviar-se-hão, e não voltarão?
And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord: Shall not he that falleth, rise again? and he that is turned away, shall he not turn again?
5 Porque pois se desvia este povo de Jerusalem com uma apostasia tão continua? retem o engano, não quer voltar.
Why then is this people in Jerusalem turned away with a stubborn revolting? they have laid hold on lying, and have refused to return.
6 Bem escutei e ouvi; não fallam o que é recto, ninguem ha que se arrependa da sua maldade, dizendo: Que fiz eu? Cada um se volta para a sua carreira, como um cavallo que arremette com impeto na batalha.
I attended, and hearkened; no man speaketh what is good, there is none that doth penance for his sin, saying: What have I done? They are all turned to their own course, as a horse rushing to the battle.
7 Até a cegonha no céu conhece os seus tempos determinados; e a rola, e o grou e a andorinha attentam para o tempo da sua vida; mas o meu povo não conhece o juizo do Senhor.
The kite in the air hath known her time: the turtle, and the swallow, and the stork have observed the time of their coming: but my people have not known the judgment of the Lord.
8 Como pois dizeis: Nós somos sabios, e a lei do Senhor está comnosco? eis que devéras em vão trabalha a falsa penna dos escribas.
How do you say: We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us? Indeed the lying pen of the scribes hath wrought falsehood.
9 Os sabios foram envergonhados, foram espantados e presos: eis que rejeitaram a palavra do Senhor; que sabedoria pois teriam?
The wise men are confounded, they are dismayed, and taken: for they have cast away the word of the Lord, and there is no wisdom in them.
10 Portanto darei suas mulheres a outros, e as suas herdades a quem as possua; porque desde o menor até ao maior cada um d'elles se dá á avareza: desde o propheta até ao sacerdote, cada um d'elles usa de falsidade.
Therefore I will give their women to strangers, their fields to others for an inheritance: because from the least even to the greatest all follow covetousness: from the prophet even to the priest, all deal deceitfully.
11 E curam a quebradura da filha de meu povo levianamente, dizendo: Paz, paz; e não ha paz.
And they healed the breach of the daughter of my people disgracefully, saying Peace, peace: when there was no peace.
12 Porventura envergonham-se de fazerem abominação? antes de maneira nenhuma se envergonham, nem sabem que coisa é envergonhar-se; portanto cairão entre os que caem e tropeçarão no tempo da sua visitação, diz o Senhor.
They are confounded, because they have committed abomination: yea rather they are not confounded with confusion, and they have not know how to blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall; in the time of their visitation they shall fall, saith the Lord.
13 Certamente os apanharei, diz o Senhor: já não ha uvas na vide, nem figos na figueira, e até a folha caiu; e o que lhes dei passará d'elles.
Gathering I will gather them together, saith the Lord, there is no grape on the vines, and there are no figs on the fig tree, the leaf is fallen: and I have given them the things that are passed away.
14 Porque nos assentamos aqui? juntae-vos e entremos nas cidades fortes, e ali nos calemos; pois já o Senhor nosso Deus nos fez calar e nos deu a beber agua de fel; porquanto peccámos contra o Senhor.
Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fenced city, and let us be silent there: for the Lord our God hath put us to silence, and hath given us water of gall to drink: for we have sinned against the Lord.
15 Espera-se a paz, mas não ha bem: o tempo da cura, e eis o terror.
We looked for peace and no good came: for a time of healing, and behold fear.
16 Já desde Dan se ouve o ronco dos seus cavallos: toda a terra está tremendo á voz dos rinchos dos seus fortes; e veem, e devoram a terra, e a abundancia n'ella, a cidade e os que habitam n'ella.
The snorting of his horse was heard from Dan, all the land was moved at the sound of the neighing of his warriors: and they came and devoured the land, and all that was in it: the city and its inhabitants.
17 Porque eis que envio entre vós serpentes e basiliscos, contra os quaes não ha encantamento, e vos morderão, diz o Senhor.
For behold I will send among you serpents, basilisks, against which there is no charm: and they shall bite you, saith the Lord.
18 O meu refrigerio está em tristeza: o meu coração desfallece em mim.
My sorrow is above sorrow, my heart mourneth within me.
19 Eis que a voz do clamor da filha do meu povo já se ouve da terra mui remota; porventura não está o Senhor em Sião? ou não está o seu rei n'ella? porque me provocaram á ira com as suas imagens de esculptura, com as vaidades dos alheios.
Behold the voice of the daughter my people from a far country: Is not the Lord in Sion, or is not her king in her? why then have they provoked me to wrath with their idols, and strange vanities?
20 Já se passou a sega, já se acabou o verão, e nós não estamos salvos.
The harvest is passed, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
21 Já estou quebrantado pela quebradura da filha do meu povo: já ando de preto: o espanto se apoderou de mim.
For the affliction of the daughter of my people I am afflicted, and made sorrowful, astonishment hath taken hold on me.
22 Porventura não ha unguento em Gilead? ou não ha lá medico? porque pois não teve logar a cura da filha do meu povo?
Is there no balm in Galaad? or is no physician there? Why then is not the wound of the daughter of my people closed?
