Jeremias 44
1 A palavra que veiu a Jeremias, ácerca de todos os judeos, habitantes da terra do Egypto, que habitavam em Migdol, e em Tahpanhes, e em Noph, e na terra de Pathros, dizendo:
The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who dwelt in the land of Egypt, who dwelt at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,
2 Assim diz o Senhor dos exercitos, Deus de Israel: Vós vistes todo o mal que fiz vir sobre Jerusalem, e sobre todas as cidades de Judah: e eis que já ellas são hoje um deserto, e ninguem habita n'ellas;
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and behold they are, this day, a waste, and no man dwelleth therein,
3 Por causa da sua maldade que fizeram, para me irarem, indo a queimar incenso para servir a deuses alheios, que nunca conheceram, nem elles, nem vós, nem vossos paes.
because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense to serve other gods which they knew not, they, [nor] ye, nor your fathers.
4 E eu vos enviei todos os meus servos, os prophetas, madrugando e enviando a dizer: Ora não façaes esta coisa abominavel que aborreço.
And I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing which I hate!
5 Porém não deram ouvidos, nem inclinaram a sua orelha, para se converterem da sua maldade, para não queimarem incenso a deuses alheios.
But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.
6 Derramou-se pois a minha indignação e a minha ira, e accendeu-se nas cidades de Judah, e nas ruas de Jerusalem, e tornaram-se em deserto e em assolação, como hoje se vê.
And my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are become a waste, a desolation, as at this day.
7 Agora, pois, assim diz o Senhor, Deus dos Exercitos, Deus de Israel: Porque fazeis vós tão grande mal contra as vossas almas, para vos desarreigardes a vós, ao homem e á mulher, á creança e ao que mama, do meio de Judah, para não vos deixardes resto algum;
And now thus saith Jehovah the God of hosts, the God of Israel: Wherefore commit ye great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, infant and suckling, out of the midst of Judah, to leave you no remnant;
8 Irando-me com as obras de vossas mãos, queimando incenso a deuses alheios na terra do Egypto, aonde vós entrastes para lá peregrinardes: para que vos desarreigueis a vós mesmos, e para que sirvaes de maldição, de opprobrio entre todas as nações da terra?
provoking me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye are come to sojourn, that ye should be cut off, and that ye should be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
9 Porventura já vos esquecestes das maldades de vossos paes, e das maldades dos reis de Judah, e das maldades de suas mulheres, e de vossas maldades, e das maldades de vossas mulheres, que fizeram na terra de Judah, e nas ruas de Jerusalem?
Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
10 Não estão contritos até ao dia de hoje: nem temeram, nem andaram na minha lei, nem nos meus estatutos, que puz diante de vós e diante de vossos paes.
They are not humbled unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes which I set before you and before your fathers.
11 Portanto assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que eu ponho o meu rosto contra vós para mal, e para desarreigar a todo o Judah.
Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.
12 E tomarei o resto de Judah, que poz o seu rosto para entrar na terra do Egypto, para lá peregrinar e será todo consumido na terra do Egypto; cairá á espada, e de fome morrerá; consumir-se-hão, desde o menor até ao maior; á espada e á fome morrerão: e servirão de execração, e de espanto, e de maldição, e de opprobrio
And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to enter into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed: in the land of Egypt shall they fall; they shall be consumed by the sword [and] by the famine, from the least even unto the greatest; they shall die by the sword and by the famine, and they shall be an execration, an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.
13 Porque visitarei sobre os que habitam na terra do Egypto, como visitei sobre Jerusalem, á espada, á fome e com peste.
And I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence;
14 De maneira que não haverá quem escape, e fique, de resto, de Judah, que entrou na terra do Egypto, para lá peregrinar: para tornar á terra de Judah, á qual elles levantam a sua alma, para tornarem, para habitarem lá; porém não tornarão senão os que escaparem
and none of the remnant of Judah, that have come into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, so as to return into the land of Judah, whither they have a desire to return to dwell there; for none shall return but such as shall escape.
15 Então responderam a Jeremias todos os homens que sabiam que suas mulheres queimavam incenso a deuses alheios, e todas as mulheres que estavam em pé em grande multidão, como tambem todo o povo que habitava na terra do Egypto, em Pathros, dizendo:
Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assemblage, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
16 Quanto á palavra que fallaste a nós em nome do Senhor, não te obedeceremos a ti
[As for] the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of Jehovah, we will not hearken unto thee,
17 Antes certamente faremos toda a palavra que saiu da nossa bocca, queimando incenso á rainha dos céus, e offerecendo-lhe libações, como nós e nossos paes, nossos reis e nossos principes, o temos feito, nas cidades de Judah, e nas ruas de Jerusalem; e tivemos então fartura de pão, e andavamos alegres, e não vimos mal algum.
but we will certainly do every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out drink-offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and we had plenty of bread, and were well, and saw no evil.
18 Mas desde que cessámos de queimar insenso á rainha dos céus, e de lhe offerecer libações, tivemos falta de tudo, e fomos consumidos pela espada e pela fome
But since we left off burning incense to the queen of the heavens, and pouring out drink-offerings to her, we have wanted everything, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
19 E quando nós queimavamos incenso á rainha dos céus, e lhe offereciamos libações, faziamos-lhe bolos lavrados, para assim a retratar, e lhe offereciamos libações sem nossos maridos.
And when we burned incense to the queen of the heavens and poured out drink-offerings to her, did we make for her cakes to portray her, and pour out drink-offerings to her, without our husbands?
20 Então disse Jeremias a todo o povo, aos homens e ás mulheres, e a todo o povo que lhe havia dado esta resposta, dizendo:
And Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people that had given him that answer, saying,
21 Porventura não se lembrou o Senhor, e não lhe subiu ao coração o incenso que queimastes nas cidades de Judah e nas ruas de Jerusalem, vós e vossos paes, vossos reis e vossos principes, como tambem o povo da terra?
Is it not the incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye and your fathers, your kings and your princes and the people of the land, that Jehovah remembered, and that came into his mind?
22 De maneira que o Senhor não mais o podia soffrer, por causa da maldade das vossas acções, por causa das abominações que fizestes; pelo que se tornou a vossa terra em deserto, e em espanto, e em maldição, que ninguem habite n'ella, como hoje se vê.
And Jehovah could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, [and] because of the abominations that ye had committed; and your land is become a waste, and an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as at this day.
23 Porque queimastes incenso, e porque peccastes contra o Senhor, e não obedecestes á voz do Senhor, e na sua lei, e nos seus testemunhos não andastes, por isso vos succedeu este mal, como se vê n'este dia
Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not hearkened unto the voice of Jehovah, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil hath come upon you, as at this day.
24 Disse mais Jeremias a todo o povo e a todas as mulheres: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor, todo o Judah que estaes na terra do Egypto.
And Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear ye the word of Jehovah, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt.
25 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, Deus de Israel, dizendo: Vós e vossas mulheres não sómente fallastes por vossa bocca, senão tambem o cumpristes por vossas mãos, dizendo: Certamente faremos os nossos votos que votámos de queimar incenso á rainha dos céus e de lhe offerecer libações: perfeitamente confirmastes os vossos votos, e perfeitamente fizestes os vossos votos.
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hands, saying, We will certainly perform our vows which we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out drink-offerings unto her. Ye will certainly establish your vows, and entirely perform your vows.
26 Portanto ouvi a palavra do Senhor, todo o Judah, que habitaes na terra do Egypto: Eis que eu juro pelo meu grande nome, diz o Senhor, que nunca mais será nomeado o meu nome pela bocca de nenhum homem de Judah em toda a terra do Egypto, que diz: Vive o Senhor Jehovah!
Therefore hear ye the word of Jehovah, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt: Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith Jehovah, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, [As] the Lord Jehovah liveth.
27 Eis que velarei sobre elles para mal, e não para bem; e serão consumidos todos os homens de Judah, que estão na terra do Egypto, á espada e á fome, até que se acabem de todo.
Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good; and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
28 E os que escaparem da espada tornarão da terra do Egypto á terra de Judah, poucos em numero; e saberá todo o resto de Judah, que entrou na terra do Egypto, para peregrinar ali, qual palavra subsistirá, a minha ou a sua
And they that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, a very small company; and all the remnant of Judah, that have come into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose word shall stand, mine or theirs.
29 E isto vos servirá de signal, diz o Senhor, que eu vos visitarei n'este mesmo logar; para que saibaes que certamente subsistirão as minhas palavras contra vós para mal.
And this shall be the sign unto you, saith Jehovah, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall certainly stand against you for evil:
30 Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que eu darei Pharaó Hophra, rei do Egypto, na mão de seus inimigos, e na mão dos que procuram a sua morte; como dei Zedekias, rei de Judah, na mão de Nabucodonozor, rei de Babylonia, seu inimigo, e que procurava a sua morte.
thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will give Pharaoh-Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.
