Jeremias 41
1 Succedeu, porém, no mez setimo, que veiu Ishmael, filho de Nethanias, filho d'Elisama, de sangue real, e os capitães do rei, a saber, dez homens com elle, a Gedalias, filho d'Ahicam, a Mizpah; e comeram ali pão juntamente em Mizpah.
And it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ismahel the son of Nathanias, the son of Elisama of the royal blood, and the nobles of the king, and ten men with him, came to Godolias the son of Ahicam into Masphath: and they ate bread there together in Masphath.
2 E levantou-se Ishmael, filho de Nethanias, com os dez homens que estavam com elle, e feriram a Gedalias, filho de Ahicam, filho de Saphan, á espada; e matou aquelle que o rei de Babylonia havia posto sobre a terra.
And Ismahel the son of Nathanias arose, and the ten men that were with him, and they struck Godolias the son of Ahicam, the son of Saphan with the sword, and slew him whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.
3 Tambem feriu Ishmael a todos os judeos que havia com elle, com Gedalias, em Mizpah, como tambem aos chaldeos, homens de guerra, que se acharam ali.
Ismahel slew also all the Jews that were with Godolias in Masphath, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the soldiers.
4 Succedeu pois no dia seguinte, depois que matára a Gedalias, e sem ninguem o saber,
And on the second day after he had killed Godolias, no man yet knowing it,
5 Que vieram homens de Sichem, de Silo, e de Samaria; oitenta homens, com a barba rapada, e os vestidos rasgados, e sarjando-se; e traziam nas suas mãos offertas de manjares e incenso, para levarem á casa do Senhor.
There came some from Sichem, and from Silo, and from Samaria, fourscore men, with their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and mourning: and they had offerings and incense in their hand, to offer in the house of the Lord.
6 E, saindo-lhes ao encontro Ishmael, filho de Nethanias, desde Mizpah, ia chorando; e succedeu que, encontrando-os, lhes disse: Vinde a Gedalias, filho de Ahicam.
And Ismahel the son of Nathanias went forth from Masphath to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and when he had met them, he said to them: Come to Godolias, the son of Ahicam.
7 Succedeu, porém, que, entrando elles até ao meio da cidade, matou-os Ishmael, filho de Nethanias, e os lançou no meio de um poço, elle e os homens que estavam com elle.
And when they were come to the midst of the city, Ismahel the son of Nathanias, slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he and the men that were with him.
8 Mas acharam-se entre elles dez homens que disseram a Ishmael: Não nos mates a nós; porque temos no campo thesouros escondidos, trigo e cevada, e azeite e mel. E os deixou, e não os matou entre seus irmãos.
But ten men were found among them, that said to Ismahel: Kill us not: for we have stores in the field, of wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey. And he forbore, and slew them not with their brethren.
9 E o poço em que Ishmael lançou todos os cadaveres dos homens que feriu por causa de Gedalias é o mesmo que fez o rei Asa, por causa de Baasa, rei de Israel: a este encheu de mortos Ishmael, filho de Nethanias.
And the pit into which Ismahel cast all the dead bodies of the men whom he slew because of Godolias, is the same that king Asa made, for fear of Baasa the king of Israel: the same did Ismahel the son of Nathanias fill with them that were slain.
10 E Ishmael levou captivo a todo o resto do povo que estava em Mizpah; as filhas do rei, e todo o povo que restou em Mizpah, que Nebuzaradan, capitão da guarda, havia encarregado a Gedalias, filho de Ahicam; e levou-os captivos Ishmael, filho de Nethanias, e foi-se para passar aos filhos de Ammon.
Then Ismahel carried away captive all the remnant of the people that were in Masphath: the king’s daughters, and all the people that remained in Masphath: whom Nabuzardan the general of the army had committed to Godolias the son of Ahicam. And Ismahel the son of Nathanias took them, and he departed, to go over to the children of Ammon.
11 Ouvindo pois Johanan, filho de Careah, e todos os principes dos exercitos que havia com elle, todo o mal que havia feito Ishmael, filho de Nethanias,
But Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the fighting men that were with him, heard of the evil that Ismahel the son of Nathanias had done.
12 Tomaram todos os seus homens, e foram pelejar contra Ishmael, filho de Nethanias: e acharam-n'o ao pé das muitas aguas que ha em Gibeon.
And taking all the men, they went out to fight against Ismahel the son of Nathanias, and they found him by the great waters that are in Gabaon.
13 E aconteceu que, vendo todo o povo, que estava com Ishmael, a Johanan filho de Careah, e a todos os principes dos exercitos, que vinham com elle, se alegrou.
And when all the people that were with Ismahel, had seen Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the fighting men that were with him, they rejoiced.
14 E todo o povo que Ishmael levara captivo de Mizpah virou as costas, e voltou, e foi para Johanan, filho de Careah.
And all the people whom Ismahel had taken, went back to Masphath: and they returned and went to Johanan the son of Caree.
15 Porém Ishmael, filho de Nethanias, escapou com oito homens de diante de Johanan, e se foi para os filhos de Ammon.
But Ismahel the son of Nathanias fled with eight men, from the face of Johanan, and went to the children of Ammon.
16 Então tomou Johanan, filho de Careah, e todos os principes dos exercitos que havia com elle, a todo o resto do povo que elle havia recobrado de Ishmael, filho de Nethanias, desde Mizpah, depois de haver ferido a Gedalias, filho de Ahicam, aos homens valentes de guerra, e ás mulheres, e aos meninos, e aos eunuchos que havia recobrado de Gibeon,
Then Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the soldiers that were with him, took all the remnant of the people whom they had recovered from Ismahel the son of Nathanias, from Masphath, after that he had slain Godolias the son of Ahicam: valiant men for war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gabaon:
17 E foram, e moraram na habitação de Geruth-chimham, que está perto de Beth-lehem, para se irem e entrarem no Egypto,
And they departed, and sat as sojourners in Chamaam, which is near Bethlehem: in order to go forward, and enter into Egypt,
18 Por causa dos chaldeos; porque os temiam, por haver ferido Ishmael, filho de Nethanias, a Gedalias, filho de Ahicam, a quem o rei de Babylonia tinha posto sobre a terra.
From the face of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ismahel the son of Nathanias had slain Godolias the son of Ahicam, whom the king of Babylon had made governor in the land of Juda.
