Jeremias 19
1 Assim diz o Senhor: Vae, e compra uma botija de oleiro, e toma comtigo dos anciãos do povo e dos anciãos dos sacerdotes;
Yahweh said this, “Go and purchase a potter's clay flask while you are with the elders of the people and the priests.
2 E sae ao valle do filho d'Hinnom, que está á entrada da porta do sol, e apregoa ali as palavras que eu te disser.
Then go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom at the entry of the Broken Pottery Gate, and there proclaim the words that I will tell you.
3 E dize: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor, ó reis de Judah, e moradores de Jerusalem: assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Deus d'Israel: Eis que trarei um mal sobre este logar, que quem quer que ouvir retinir-lhe-hão as orelhas:
Say, 'Hear the word of Yahweh, kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this, “See, I am about to bring disaster on this place, and the ears of everyone who hears of it will tingle.
4 Porquanto me deixaram e alienaram este lugar, e n'elle queimaram incenso a outros deuses, que nunca conheceram, nem elles nem seus paes, nem os reis de Judah; e encheram este logar de sangue de innocentes.
I will do this because they have abandoned me and profaned this place. In this place they offer sacrifices to other gods that they did not know. They, their ancestors, and the kings of Judah have also filled this place with innocent blood.
5 Porque edificaram os altos de Baal, para queimarem seus filhos no fogo em holocaustos a Baal; o que nunca lhes ordenei, nem fallei, nem subiu ao meu coração.
They built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to him—something that I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind.
6 Por isso eis que dias veem, diz o Senhor, em que este logar não se chamará mais Topheth, nem o valle do filho de Hinnom, mas o valle da matança.
Therefore, see, the days are coming—this is Yahweh's declaration—when this place will no longer be called Topheth, the Valley of Ben Hinnom, for it will be the Valley of Slaughter.
7 Porque dissiparei o conselho de Judah e de Jerusalem n'este logar, e os farei cair á espada diante de seus inimigos, e pela mão dos que buscam a sua vida d'elles; e darei os seus cadaveres para pasto ás aves dos céus e aos animaes da terra.
In this place I will make the plans of Judah and Jerusalem useless. I will make them to fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hand of the ones seeking their lives. Then I will give their corpses as food to the birds of the heavens and the beasts of the earth.
8 E porei esta cidade em espanto e por assobio: todo aquelle que passar por ella se espantará, e assobiará sobre todas as suas pragas.
Then I will make this city a ruin and the object of hissing, for everyone passing by it will shudder and hiss regarding all of its plagues.
9 E os farei comer a carne de seus filhos, e a carne de suas filhas, e comerá cada um a carne do seu proximo, no cerco e no aperto em que os apertarão os seus inimigos, e os que buscam a vida d'elles.
I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters; each man will consume the flesh of his neighbor in the siege and in the anguish brought on them by their enemies and the ones seeking their lives.”'
10 Então quebrarás a botija aos olhos dos homens que forem comtigo.
Then you will break the clay flask in the sight of the men who went with you.
11 E dir-lhes-has: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos: Assim quebrarei eu a este povo, e a esta cidade, como se quebra o vaso do oleiro, que não póde mais refazer-se, e os enterrarão em Topheth, porque não haverá mais logar para os enterrar.
You will say to them, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: I will do this same thing to this people and this city—this is Yahweh's declaration—just as Jeremiah shattered the clay flask so that it could not be repaired again. People will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no place left for any more dead.
12 Assim farei a este logar, diz o Senhor, e aos seus moradores; e isso para pôr a esta cidade como a Topheth.
This is what I will do to this place and its inhabitants when I make this city like Topheth—this is Yahweh's declaration—
13 E as casas de Jerusalem, e as casas dos reis de Judah, serão immundas como o logar de Topheth: como tambem todas as casas, sobre cujos terraços queimaram incenso a todo o exercito dos céus, e offereceram libações a deuses estranhos.
so the houses of Jerusalem and of the kings of Judah will become like Topheth—all the houses on whose rooftops the unclean people worship all the stars of the heavens and pour out drink offerings to other gods.'”
14 Vindo pois Jeremias de Topheth, onde o tinha enviado o Senhor a prophetizar, se poz em pé no atrio da casa do Senhor, e disse a todo o povo:
Then Jeremiah went from Topheth, where Yahweh had sent him to prophesy. He stood in the courtyard of Yahweh's house and he said to all the people,
15 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que trarei sobre esta cidade, e sobre todas as suas cidades, todo o mal que fallei contra ella, porquanto endureceram a sua cerviz, para não ouvirem as minhas palavras.
“Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this, 'See, I am about to bring to this city and to all of its towns all the disaster that I have proclaimed against it, since they stiffened their neck and refused to listen to my words.'”
