Jeremias 14
1 A palavra do Senhor, que veiu a Jeremias, ácerca dos negocios da grande secca.
The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth.
2 Anda chorando Judah, e as suas portas estão enfraquecidas: andam de luto até ao chão, e o clamor de Jerusalem vae subindo.
Judah mourneth, and her gates languish; they are black to the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
3 E os seus mais illustres enviam os seus pequenos por agua; veem ás cavas, e não acham agua; voltam com os seus vasos vazios; envergonham-se e confundem-se, e cobrem as suas cabeças.
And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, [and] found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.
4 Por causa da terra que se fendeu, porque não ha chuva sobre a terra, os lavradores se envergonham e cobrem as suas cabeças.
Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain on the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
5 Porque até as cervas no campo parem, e deixam seus filhos, porquanto não ha herva.
Yes, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook [it], because there was no grass.
6 E os jumentos montezes se põem nos logares altos, sorvem o vento como os dragões, desfallecem os seus olhos, porquanto não ha herva.
And the wild asses stood in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes failed, because [there was] no grass.
7 Ainda que as nossas maldades testificam contra nós, ó Senhor, obra por amor do teu nome; porque as nossas rebeldias se multiplicaram; contra ti peccámos.
O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou [it] for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
8 Ah! esperança de Israel, e Redemptor seu no tempo da angustia! porque serias como um estrangeiro na terra? e como o viandante que se retira a passar a noite?
O the hope of Israel, his Savior in time of trouble, why shouldst thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a way-faring man [that] turneth aside to tarry for a night?
9 Porque serias como homem cançado, como valoroso que não pode livrar? já tu estás no meio de nós, ó Senhor, e nós somos chamados pelo teu nome: não nos desampares.
Why shouldst thou be as a man astonished, as a mighty man [that] cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, [art] in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
10 Assim diz o Senhor, ácerca d'este povo: Pois que tanto amaram mover-se, e não retiveram os seus pés, por isso o Senhor se não agrada d'elles, mas agora se lembrará da sua maldade d'elles, e visitará os seus peccados.
Thus saith the LORD to this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not restrained their feet, therefore the LORD doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
11 Disse-me mais o Senhor: Não rogues por este povo para bem.
Then said the LORD to me, Pray not for this people for [their] good.
12 Quando jejuarem, não ouvirei o seu clamor, e quando offerecerem holocaustos e offertas de manjares, não me agradarei d'elles; antes eu os consumirei pela espada, e pela fome e pela peste.
When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt-offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
13 Então disse eu: Ah! Senhor, Senhor, eis que os prophetas lhes dizem: Não vereis espada, e não tereis fome; antes vos darei paz verdadeira n'este logar.
Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say to them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
14 E disse-me o Senhor: Os prophetas prophetizam falso no meu nome; nunca os enviei, nem lhes dei ordem, nem lhes fallei: visão falsa, e adivinhação, e vaidade, e o engano do seu coração elles vos prophetizam.
Then the LORD said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I have not sent them, neither have I commanded them, neither spoken to them: they prophesy to you a false vision and divination, and a thing of naught, and the deceit of their heart.
15 Portanto assim diz o Senhor ácerca dos prophetas que prophetizam no meu nome, sem que eu os tenha mandado, e comtudo dizem, Nem espada, nem fome haverá n'esta terra: Á espada e á fome serão consumidos esses prophetas.
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
16 E o povo a quem elles prophetizam será lançado nas ruas de Jerusalem, por causa da fome e da espada: e não haverá quem o enterre, tanto a elle, como a suas mulheres, e a seus filhos e a suas filhas: assim derramarei sobre elles a sua maldade.
And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the famine, and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.
17 Portanto lhes dirás esta palavra: Os meus olhos derramem lagrimas de noite e de dia, e não cessem: porque a virgem, filha do meu povo, está quebrada de grande quebra, de chaga mui dolorosa.
Therefore thou shalt say this word to them; Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
18 Se eu saio ao campo, eis aqui os mortos á espada, e, se entro na cidade, eis aqui os enfermos de fome: e até os prophetas e os sacerdotes correram em roda na terra, e não sabem nada.
If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yes, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.
19 Porventura já de todo rejeitaste a Judah? ou aborrece a tua alma a Sião? porque nos feriste de tal modo que já não ha cura para nós? aguarda-se a paz, e nada ha de bem; e o tempo da cura, e eis aqui turbação.
Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? Why hast thou smitten us, and [there is] no healing for us? we looked for peace, and [there is] no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble!
20 Ah, Senhor! conhecemos a nossa impiedade e a maldade de nossos paes; porque peccámos contra ti.
We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, [and] the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.
21 Não nos rejeites por amor do teu nome; não abatas o throno da tua gloria: lembra-te, e não annules o teu concerto comnosco.
Do not abhor [us], for thy name's sake; do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
22 Porventura ha, entre as vaidades dos gentios, quem faça chover? ou podem os céus dar chuvas? não és tu aquelle, ó Senhor nosso Deus? portanto em ti esperaremos, pois tu fazes todas estas coisas.
Are there [any] among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? [art] not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these [things].
