Tiago 5
1 Eia pois agora vós, ricos, chorae e pranteae, por vossas miserias, que sobre vós hão de vir.
Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl in your miseries, which shall come upon you.
2 As vossas riquezas estão apodrecidas, e os vossos vestidos estão comidos da traça.
Your riches are corrupted: and your garments are motheaten.
3 O vosso oiro e a vossa prata se enferrujaram; e a sua ferrugem dará testemunho contra vós, e comerá como fogo a vossa carne. Enthesourastes para os ultimos dias.
Your gold and silver is cankered: and the rust of them shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh like fire. You have stored up to yourselves wrath against the last days.
4 Eis que o jornal dos trabalhadores que ceifaram as vossas terras, e o qual por vós foi diminuido, clama; e os clamores dos que ceifaram entraram nos ouvidos do Senhor dos exercitos.
Behold the hire of the labourers, who have reaped down your fields, which by fraud has been kept back by you, crieth: and the cry of them hath entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
5 Deliciosamente vivestes sobre a terra, e vos deleitastes: cevastes os vossos corações, como n'um dia de matança.
You have feasted upon earth: and in riotousness you have nourished your hearts, in the day of slaughter.
6 Condemnastes e matastes o justo; elle não vos resistiu.
You have condemned and put to death the Just One, and he resisted you not.
7 Sêde pois, irmãos, pacientes até á vinda do Senhor. Eis que o lavrador espera o precioso fructo da terra, aguardando-o com paciencia, até que receba a chuva temporã e serodia.
Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth: patiently bearing till he receive the early and latter rain.
8 Sêde vós tambem pacientes, fortalecei os vossos corações; porque já a vinda do Senhor está proxima.
Be you therefore also patient, and strengthen your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
9 Irmãos, não vos queixeis uns contra os outros, para que não sejaes condemnados. Eis que o juiz está á porta.
Grudge not, brethren, one against another, that you may not be judged. Behold the judge standeth before the door.
10 Meus irmãos, tomae por exemplo de afflicção e paciencia os prophetas que fallaram em nome do Senhor.
Take, my brethren, for an example of suffering evil, of labour and patience, the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord.
11 Eis que temos por bemaventurados os que soffrem. Ouvistes qual foi a paciencia de Job, e vistes o fim que o Senhor lhe deu; porque o Senhor é muito misericordioso e piedoso.
Behold, we account them blessed who have endured. You have heard of the patience of Job, and you have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is merciful and compassionate.
12 Porém, sobretudo, meus irmãos, não jureis, nem pelo céu, nem pela terra, nem façaes qualquer outro juramento; mas que a vossa palavra seja sim, sim, e não, não; para que não caiaes em condemnação.
But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath. But let your speech be, yea, yea: no, no: that you fall not under judgment.
13 Está alguem entre vós afflicto? ore. Está alguem contente? psalmodie.
Is any of you sad? Let him pray. Is he cheerful in mind? Let him sing.
14 Está alguem entre vós doente? chame os anciãos da egreja, e orem sobre elle, ungindo-o com azeite em nome do Senhor;
Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 E a oração da fé salvará o doente, e o Senhor o levantará; e, se houver commettido peccados, ser-lhe-hão perdoados.
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man: and the Lord shall raise him up: and if he be in sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confessae as vossas culpas uns aos outros, e orae uns pelos outros para que sareis: a oração efficaz do justo pode muito.
Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much.
17 Elias era homem sujeito ás mesmas paixões que nós, e, orando, pediu que não chovesse, e, por tres annos e seis mezes, não choveu sobre a terra.
Elias was a man passible like unto us: and with prayer he prayed that it might not rain upon the earth, and it rained not for three years and six months.
18 E orou outra vez, e o céu deu chuva, e a terra produziu o seu fructo.
And he prayed again: and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
19 Irmãos, se algum de entre vós se tem desviado da verdade, e algum o converter,
My brethren, if any of you err from the truth, and one convert him:
20 Saiba que aquelle que fizer converter do erro do seu caminho um peccador salvará da morte uma alma, e cobrirá uma multidão de peccados.
He must know that he who causeth a sinner to be converted from the error of his way, shall save his soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.
