Tiago 2
1 Meus irmãos, não tenhaes a fé de nosso Senhor Jesus Christo, Senhor da gloria, em accepção de pessoas.
My brothers, practice your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, without showing partiality.
2 Porque, se no vosso ajuntamento entrar algum homem com annel de oiro no dedo, com vestidos preciosos, e entrar tambem algum pobre com vestido sordido,
Suppose a man in fine clothing comes into your assembly wearing a gold ring, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in.
3 E attentardes para o que traz o vestido precioso, e lhe disserdes: Assenta-te tu aqui n'um logar de honra; e disserdes ao pobre: Tu, fica ahi em pé, ou assenta-te abaixo do meu estrado;
If you pay attention to the man who is wearing fine clothing and say to him, “Yoʋ sit here in a good place,” but you say to the poor man, “Yoʋ stand there, or sit here under my footstool,”
4 Porventura não fizestes differença dentro de vós mesmos, e não vos fizestes juizes de maus pensamentos?
have you not made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
5 Ouvi, meus amados irmãos: Porventura não escolheu Deus aos pobres d'este mundo para serem ricos na fé, e herdeiros do reino que promette aos que o amam?
Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen the poor of the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?
6 Porém vós deshonrastes o pobre. Porventura não vos opprimem os ricos, e não vos arrastam aos tribunaes?
But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you? Are they not the ones who drag you into court?
7 Porventura não blasphemam elles o bom nome que sobre vós foi invocado?
Do they not blaspheme the good name by which you are called?
8 Todavia, se cumprirdes, conforme a Escriptura, a lei real: Amarás a teu proximo como a ti mesmo, bem fazeis.
If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “Yoʋ shall love yoʋr neighbor as yoʋrself,” you do well.
9 Porém, se fazeis accepção de pessoas, commetteis peccado, e sois redarguidos pela lei como transgressores.
But if you show partiality, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
10 Porque qualquer que guardar toda a lei, e deslisar em um só ponto, é culpado de todos.
For whoever keeps the entire law but stumbles in one point has become guilty of it all.
11 Porque aquelle que disse: Não commetterás adulterio, tambem disse: Não matarás. Se tu pois não commetteres adulterio, porém matares, estás feito transgressor da lei
For he who said, “Yoʋ shall not commit adultery,” also said, “Yoʋ shall not murder.” Now if yoʋ do not commit adultery but do commit murder, yoʋ have become a transgressor of the law.
12 Assim fallae, e assim obrae, como devendo ser julgados pela lei da liberdade.
Speak and act as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.
13 Porque o juizo virá sem misericordia sobre aquelle que não fez misericordia; e a misericordia gloría-se contra o juizo.
For judgment is without mercy to anyone who has not shown mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
14 Meus irmãos, que aproveita se alguem disser que tem fé, e não tiver as obras? Porventura a fé pode salval-o?
What is the benefit, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?
15 E, se o irmão ou a irmã estiverem nús, e tiverem falta de mantimento quotidiano,
If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacks daily food,
16 E algum de vós lhe disser: Ide em paz, aquentae-vos, e fartae-vos; e lhe não derdes as coisas necessarias para o corpo, que proveito virá d'ahi?
and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them anything to address their physical needs, what is the benefit?
17 Assim tambem a fé, se não tiver as obras, está morta em si mesma.
In the same way faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 Porém dirá alguem: Tu tens a fé, e eu tenho as obras: mostra-me a tua fé pelas tuas obras, e eu te mostrarei a minha fé pelas minhas obras.
But someone will say, “Yoʋ have faith, and I have works.” Show me yoʋr faith by yoʋr works, and I, by my works, will show yoʋ my faith.
19 Tu crês que ha um só Deus: fazes bem; tambem os demonios o crêem, e estremecem.
Yoʋ believe that God is one; yoʋ do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
20 Mas, ó homem vão, queres tu saber que a fé sem as obras está morta?
Do yoʋ want to be shown, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Porventura o nosso pae Abrahão não foi justificado pelas obras, quando offereceu sobre o altar o seu filho Isaac?
Was not our father Abraham justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22 Bem vês que a fé cooperou com as suas obras, e que a fé foi aperfeiçoada pelas obras.
Do yoʋ see how faith was active along with his works, and by works his faith was brought to completion?
23 E cumpriu-se a Escriptura, que diz: E creu Abrahão em Deus, e foi-lhe isso imputado a justiça, e foi chamado o amigo de Deus.
And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God.
24 Vedes então que o homem é justificado pelas obras, e não sómente pela fé.
You see then that a person is justified by works, and not by faith alone.
25 E de egual modo Rahab, a meretriz, não foi tambem justificada pelas obras, quando recolheu os emissarios, e os despediu por outro caminho?
In the same way, was not Rahab the prostitute also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?
26 Porque, assim como o corpo sem o espirito está morto, assim tambem a fé sem as obras está morta.
For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead.
