Tiago 1
1 Thiago, servo de Deus, e do Senhor Jesus Christo, ás doze tribus que andam dispersas, saude.
Iames a seruant of God, and of the Lord Iesus Christ, to the twelue Tribes, which are scattered abroade, salutation.
2 Meus irmãos, tende grande gozo quando cairdes em varias tentações:
My brethren, count it exceeding ioy, when ye fall into diuers tentations,
3 Sabendo que a prova da vossa fé obra a paciencia:
Knowing that ye trying of your faith bringeth forth patience,
4 Tenha, porém, a paciencia a obra perfeita, para que sejaes perfeitos e completos, sem faltar em coisa alguma.
And let patience haue her perfect worke, that ye may be perfect and entier, lacking nothing.
5 E, se algum de vós tem falta de sabedoria, peça-a a Deus, que a todos dá liberalmente, e o não lança em rosto, e ser-lhe-ha dada
If any of you lacke wisedome, let him aske of God, which giueth to all men liberally, and reprocheth no man, and it shalbe giuen him.
6 Porém peça-a com fé, não duvidando; porque o que duvida é similhante á onda do mar, que é levada pelo vento, e lançada de uma para outra parte.
But let him aske in faith, and wauer not: for hee that wauereth, is like a waue of the sea, tost of the winde, and caried away.
7 Não pense o tal homem que receberá do Senhor alguma coisa.
Neither let that man thinke that hee shall receiue any thing of the Lord.
8 O homem de coração dobre é inconstante em todos os seus caminhos.
A double minded man is vnstable in all his waies.
9 Porém o irmão abatido glorie-se na sua exaltação,
Let the brother of lowe degree reioyce in that he is exalted:
10 E o rico em seu abatimento; porque elle passará como a flôr da herva.
Againe hee that is rich, in that hee is made lowe: for as the flower of the grasse, shall he vanish away.
11 Porque sae o sol com ardor, e a herva secca, e a sua flor cae, e a formosa apparencia do seu aspecto perece: assim se murchará tambem o rico em seus caminhos.
For as when the sunne riseth with heate, then the grasse withereth, and his flower falleth away, and the goodly shape of it perisheth: euen so shall the rich man wither away in all his waies.
12 Bemaventurado o varão que soffre a tentação; porque, quando fôr provado, receberá a corôa da vida, a qual o Senhor tem promettido aos que o amam.
Blessed is ye man, that endureth tentation: for when he is tried, hee shall receiue the crowne of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that loue him.
13 Ninguem, sendo tentado, diga: De Deus sou tentado; porque Deus não pode ser tentado pelo mal, e a ninguem tenta.
Let no man say when hee is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God can not bee tempted with euill, neither tempteth he any man.
14 Porém cada um é tentado, quando attrahido e engodado pela sua propria concupiscencia.
But euery man is tempted, when hee is drawen away by his owne concupiscence, and is entised.
15 Depois, havendo a concupiscencia concebido, pare o peccado; e o peccado, sendo consummado, gera a morte.
Then when lust hath conceiued, it bringeth foorth sinne, and sinne when it is finished, bringeth foorth death.
16 Não erreis, meus amados irmãos.
Erre not, my deare brethren.
17 Toda a boa dadiva e todo o dom perfeito é do alto, e desce do Pae das luzes, em quem não ha mudança nem sombra de variação,
Euery good giuing, and euery perfect gift is from aboue, and commeth downe from the Father of lights, with whome is no variablenes, neither shadow of turning.
18 Segundo a sua vontade, elle nos gerou pela palavra da verdade, para que fossemos como primicias das suas creaturas.
Of his owne will begate hee vs with the woorde of trueth, that we shoulde be as the first fruites of his creatures.
19 Assim que, meus amados irmãos, todo o homem seja prompto para ouvir, tardio para fallar, tardio para se irar.
Wherefore my deare brethren, let euery man be swift to heare, slowe to speake, and slowe to wrath.
20 Porque a ira do homem não opéra a justiça de Deus.
For the wrath of man doeth not accomplish the righteousnesse of God.
21 Pelo que, rejeitando toda a immundicia e superfluidade de malicia, recebei com mansidão a palavra enxertada em vós, a qual pode salvar as vossas almas.
Wherefore lay apart all filthinesse, and superfluitie of maliciousnesse, and receiue with meekenes the word that is graffed in you, which is able to saue your soules.
22 E sêde obradores da palavra, e não sómente ouvintes, enganando-vos com falsos discursos.
And be ye doers of the word, and not hearers onely, deceiuing your owne selues.
23 Porque, se alguem é ouvinte da palavra, e não obrador, é similhante ao varão que contempla ao espelho o seu rosto natural;
For if any heare the woorde, and doe it not, he is like vnto a man, that beholdeth his naturall face in a glasse.
24 Porque se contempla a si mesmo, e foi-se, e logo se esqueceu de que tal era.
For when he hath considered himselfe, hee goeth his way, and forgetteth immediately what maner of one he was.
25 Porém aquelle que attenta bem para a lei perfeita da liberdade, e n'isso persevera, não sendo ouvinte esquecido, mas fazedor da obra, este tal será bemaventurado no seu feito.
But who so looketh in the perfect Lawe of libertie, and continueth therein, hee not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the woorke, shalbe blessed in his deede.
26 Se alguem entre vós cuida ser religioso, e não refreia a sua lingua, antes engana o seu coração, a religião do tal é vã
If any man amog you seeme religious, and refraineth not his tongue, but deceiueth his owne heart, this mans religion is vaine.
27 A religião pura e immaculada para com Deus o Pae é esta: Visitar os orphãos e as viuvas nas suas tribulações, e guardar-se immaculado do mundo.
Pure religion and vndefiled before God, euen the Father, is this, to visite the fatherlesse, and widdowes in their aduersitie, and to keepe himselfe vnspotted of the world.
