Isaías 58

1 Clama em alta voz, não te retenhas, levanta a tua voz como a trombeta e annuncia ao meu povo a sua transgressão, e á casa de Jacob os seus peccados.

"Cry aloud, do not spare, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins.

2 Ainda que me buscam cada dia, tomam prazer em saber os meus caminhos, como um povo que obra justiça, e não deixa o direito do seu Deus: perguntam-me pelos direitos da justiça, e teem prazer em se chegarem a Deus,

Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways: as a nation that did righteousness, and did not forsake the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God.

3 Dizendo: Porque jejuamos nós, e tu não attentas para isso? Porque affligimos as nossas almas, e tu o não sabes? Eis que no dia em que jejuaes achaes o vosso contentamento, e estreitamente requereis todo o vosso trabalho.

'Why have we fasted,' say they, 'and you do not see? Why have we afflicted our soul, and you take no knowledge?' "Look, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and exact all your labors.

4 Eis que para contendas e debates jejuaes, e para dardes punhadas impiamente: não jejueis como hoje, para fazer ouvir a vossa voz no alto.

Look, you fast for strife and contention, and to strike with the fist of wickedness: you do not fast this day so as to make your voice to be heard on high.

5 Seria este o jejum que eu escolheria, que o homem um dia afflija a sua alma? que incline a sua cabeça como o junco, e estenda debaixo de si sacco e cinza? chamarias tu a isto jejum e dia aprazivel ao Senhor?

Is such the fast that I have chosen? the day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head as a rush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

6 Porventura não é este o jejum que escolhi? que soltes as ligaduras da impiedade, que desfaças as ataduras do jugo? e que deixes livres os quebrantados, e despedaces todo o jugo?

"Isn't this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

7 Porventura não é tambem que repartas o teu pão com o faminto, e recolhas em casa os pobres desterrados? e, vendo o nú, o cubras, e não te escondas da tua carne?

Isn't it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?

8 Então romperá a tua luz como a alva, e a tua cura apressadamente brotará, e a tua justiça irá adiante da tua face, e a gloria do Senhor será a tua rectaguarda.

Then your light shall break forth as the morning, and your healing shall spring forth speedily; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.

9 Então clamarás, e o Senhor te responderá; gritarás, e elle dirá: Eis-me aqui: se tirares do meio de ti o jugo, o estender do dedo, e o fallar vaidade;

Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, 'Here I am.' "If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking wickedly;

10 E se abrires a tua alma ao faminto, e fartares a alma afflicta: então a tua luz nascerá nas trevas, e a tua escuridão será como o meio dia

and if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul: then your light shall rise in darkness, and your obscurity be as the noonday;

11 E o Senhor te guiará continuamente, e fartará a tua alma em grandes sequidões, e fortificará os teus ossos; e serás como um jardim regado, e como um manancial de aguas, cujas aguas nunca faltam.

and the LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in dry places, and make strong your bones; and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

12 E os que de ti procederem edificarão os logares antigamente assolados; e levantarás os fundamentos de geração em geração: e chamar-te-hão reparador das roturas, e restaurador de veredas para morar.

Those who shall be of you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

13 Se desviares o teu pé do sabbado, de fazeres a tua vontade no meu sancto dia, e chamares ao sabbado deleitoso, e o sancto dia do Senhor, digno de honra, e o honrares não seguindo os teus caminhos, nem pretendendo fazer a tua propria vontade, nem fallares as tuas proprias palavras,

"If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy of the LORD honorable; and shall honor it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words:

14 Então te deleitarás no Senhor, e te farei cavalgar sobre as alturas da terra, a te sustentarei com a herança de teu pae Jacob; porque a bocca do Senhor o fallou.

then you shall delight yourself in the LORD; and I will make you to ride on the high places of the earth; and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father:" for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.
