Isaías 47
1 Desce, e assenta-te no pó, ó virgem filha de Babylonia; assenta-te no chão; não ha já throno, ó filha dos chaldeos, porque nunca mais serás chamada a tenra nem a delicada.
Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans; for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.
2 Toma a mó, e moe a farinha: descobre as tuas guedelhas, descalça os pés, descobre as pernas e passa os rios.
Take the millstones, and grind meal; remove thy veil, strip off the train, uncover the leg, pass through the rivers.
3 A tua vergonha se descobrirá, e ver-se-ha o teu opprobrio: tomarei vingança, mas não irei contra ti como homem.
Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen; I will take vengeance, and will let no man intercede.
4 O nome do nosso redemptor é o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Sancto d'Israel.
Our Redeemer, the LORD of hosts is His name, The Holy One of Israel.
5 Assenta-te calada, e entra nas trevas, ó filha dos chaldeos, porque nunca mais serás chamada senhora de reinos.
Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; for thou shalt no more be called the mistress of kingdoms.
6 Muito me agastei contra o meu povo, profanei a minha herança, e os entreguei na tua mão: porém não usaste com elles de misericordia, e até sobre os velhos fizeste muito pesado o teu jugo
I was wroth with My people, I profaned Mine inheritance, and gave them into thy hand; thou didst show them no mercy; upon the aged hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.
7 E dizias: Eu serei senhora para sempre: até agora não tomastes estas coisas em teu coração, nem te lembraste do fim d'ellas.
And thou saidst: 'For ever shall I be mistress'; so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the end thereof.
8 Agora pois ouve isto, tu que és dada a delicias, que habitas tão segura, que dizes no teu coração: Eu o sou, e fóra de mim não ha outra; não ficarei viuva, nem conhecerei a perda de filhos
Now therefore hear this, thou that art given to pleasures, that sittest securely, that sayest in thy heart: 'I am, and there is none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children';
9 Porém ambas estas coisas virão sobre ti n'um momento, no mesmo dia, perda de filhos e viuvez: em toda a sua perfeição virão sobre ti, por causa da multidão das tuas feitiçarias, por causa da abundancia dos teus muitos encantamentos.
But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood; in their full measure shall they come upon thee, for the multitude of thy sorceries, and the great abundance of thine enchantments.
10 Porque confiaste na tua maldade e disseste: Ninguem me pode ver; a tua sabedoria e a tua sciencia, essa te fez desviar, e disseste no teu coração: Eu o sou, e fóra de mim não ha outro.
And thou hast been secure in thy wickedness, thou hast said: 'None seeth me'; thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thy heart. 'I am, and there is none else beside me.'
11 Pelo que sobre ti virá mal de que não saberás a origem, e tal destruição cairá sobre ti, que a não poderás expiar; porque virá sobre ti de repente tão tempestuosa desolação, que a não poderás conhecer.
Yet shall evil came upon thee; thou shalt not know how to charm it away; and calamity shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it away; and ruin shall come upon thee suddenly, before thou knowest.
12 Deixa-te estar com os teus encantamentos, e com a multidão das tuas feitiçarias, em que trabalhaste desde a tua mocidade, a ver se te podes aproveitar, ou se porventura te podes fortificar.
Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.
13 Cançaste-te na multidão dos teus conselhos; levantem-se pois agora os agoureiros dos céus, os que contemplavam os astros, os prognosticadores das luas novas, e salvem-te do que ha de vir sobre ti
Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels; let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from the things that shall come upon thee.
14 Eis que serão como a pragana, o fogo os queimará; não poderão arrancar a sua vida do poder da labareda; não serão brazas, para se aquentar a ellas, nem fogo para se assentar a elle.
Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; it shall not be a coal to warm at, nor a fire to sit before.
15 Assim te serão aquelles com quem trabalhaste, os teus negociantes desde a tua mocidade: cada qual irá vagueando pelo seu caminho; ninguem te salvará.
Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured; they that have trafficked with thee from thy youth shall wander every one to his quarter; there shall be none to save thee.
