Isaías 42
1 Eis aqui o meu Servo, a quem sustenho, o meu Eleito, em quem se apraz a minha alma; puz o meu espirito sobre elle; juizo produzirá aos gentios.
Behold my servant, I will uphold him: my elect, my soul delighteth in him: I have given my spirit upon him, he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 Não clamará, nem alçará a sua voz, nem fará ouvir a sua voz na praça.
He shall not cry, nor have respect to person, neither shall his voice be heard abroad.
3 A canna trilhada não quebrará, nem apagará o pavio que fumega: com verdade produzirá o juizo;
The bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 Não se encobrirá, nem será quebrantado, até que ponha na terra o juizo: e as ilhas aguardarão a sua doutrina.
He shall not be sad, nor troublesome, till he set judgment in the earth: and the islands shall wait for his law.
5 Assim diz Deus, o Senhor, que creou os céus, e os estendeu, e espraiou a terra, e a tudo quanto produz: que dá a respiração ao povo que habita n'ella, e o espirito aos que andam n'ella.
Thus saith the Lord God that created the heavens, and stretched them out: that established the earth, and the things that spring out of it: that giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them that tread thereon.
6 Eu o Senhor te chamei em justiça, e te tomarei pela mão, e te guardarei, e te darei por concerto do povo, e para luz dos gentios;
I the Lord have called thee in justice, and taken thee by the hand, and preserved thee. And I have given thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles:
7 Para abrir os olhos cegos, para tirar da prisão os presos, e da casa do carcere os que jazem em trevas.
That thou mightest open the eyes of the blind, and bring forth the prisoner out of prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
8 Eu sou o Senhor; este é o meu nome; a minha gloria pois a outrem não darei, nem o meu louvor ás imagens de esculptura.
I the Lord, this is my name: I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to graven things.
9 Eis que as coisas d'antes já vieram, e as novas eu vos annuncio, e, antes que venham á luz, vol-as faço ouvir.
The things that were first, behold they are come: and new things do I declare: before they spring forth, I will make you head them.
10 Cantae ao Senhor um cantico novo, e o seu louvor desde o fim da terra: como tambem vós os que navegaes pelo mar, e tudo quanto ha n'ella; vós, ilhas, e seus habitadores.
Sing ye to the Lora a new song, his praise is from the ends of the earth: you that go down to the sea, and all that are therein: ye islands, and ye inhabitants of them.
11 Alcem a voz o deserto e as suas cidades, com as aldeias que Kedar habita: exultem os que habitam nas rochas, e clamem do cume dos montes.
Let the desert and the cities thereof be exalted: Cedar shall dwell in houses: ye inhabitants of Petra, give praise, they shall cry from the top of the mountains.
12 Dêem a gloria ao Senhor, e annunciem o seu louvor nas ilhas.
They shall give glory to the Lord, and shall declare his praise in the islands.
13 O Senhor como valente sairá, como homem de guerra despertará o zelo: exultará, e fará grande arruido, e sujeitará a seus inimigos.
The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, as a man of war shall he stir up zeal: he shall shout and cry: he shall prevail against his enemies.
14 Já ha muito me calei; estive posto em silencio, e me retive: darei gritos como a que está de parto, e a todos os assolarei e juntamente devorarei.
I have always held my peace, I have I kept silence, I have been patient, I will speak now as a woman in labour: I will destroy, and swallow up at once.
15 Os montes e outeiros tornarei em deserto, e toda a sua herva farei seccar, e tornarei os rios em ilhas, e as lagoas seccarei.
I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and will make all their grass to wither: and I will turn rivers into islands, and will dry up the standing pools.
16 E guiarei os cegos pelo caminho que nunca conheceram, os farei caminhar pelas veredas que não conheceram: tornarei as trevas em luz perante elles, e as coisas tortas farei direitas. Estas coisas lhes farei, e nunca os desampararei.
And I will lead the blind into the way which they know not: and in the paths which they were ignorant of I will make them walk: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight: these things have I done to them, and have not forsaken them.
17 Mas serão tornados atraz e confundir-se-hão de vergonha os que confiam em imagens de esculptura, e dizem ás imagens de fundição: Vós sois nossos deuses.
They are turned back: let them be greatly confounded, that trust in a graven thing, that say to a molten thing: You are our god.
18 Surdos, ouvi, e vós, cegos, olhae, para que possaes ver.
Hear, ye deaf, and, ye blind, behold that you may see.
19 Quem é cego, senão o meu servo, ou surdo como o meu mensageiro, a quem envio? e quem é cego como o perfeito, e cego como o servo do Senhor?
Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, but he to whom I have sent my messengers? Who is blind, but he that is sold? or who is blind, but the servant of the Lord?
20 Bem vêdes vós muitas coisas, porém vós as não guardaes: ainda que abre os ouvidos, comtudo nada ouve
Thou that seest many things, wilt thou not observe them? thou that hast ears open, wilt thou not hear?
21 O Senhor se agradava d'elle por amor da sua justiça: engrandeceu pela lei, e o fez glorioso.
And the Lord was willing to sanctify him, and to magnify the law, and exalt it.
22 Porém este é um povo roubado e saqueado: todos estão enlaçados em cavernas, e escondidos nas casas dos carceres: são postos por preza, e ninguem ha que os livre, por despojo, e ninguem diz: Restitue.
But this is a people that is robbed and wasted: they are all the snare of young men, and they are hid in the houses of prisons: they are made a prey, and there is none to deliver them: a spoil, and there is none that saith: Restore.
23 Quem ha entre vós que ouça isto? que attenda e ouça o que ha de ser depois?
Who is there among you that will give ear to this, that will attend and hearken for times to come?
24 Quem entregou a Jacob por despojo, e a Israel aos roubadores? porventura não foi o Senhor, aquelle contra quem peccámos, e nos caminhos do qual não queriam andar e não davam ouvidos á sua lei?
Who hath given Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to robbers? hath not the Lord himself, against whom we have sinned? And they would not walk in his ways, and they have not hearkened to his law.
25 Pelo que derramou sobre elles a indignação da sua ira, e a força da guerra, e lhes poz labaredas em redor: porém n'isso não attentaram; e os queimou, porém não pozeram n'isso o coração.
And he hath poured out upon him the indignation of his fury, and a strong battle, and hath burnt him round about, and he knew not: and set him on fire, and he understood not.
