Habacuque 1
1 A carga que viu o propheta Habacuc.
The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
2 Até quando, Senhor, clamarei eu, e tu não me escutarás? até quando gritarei a ti: Violencia! e não salvarás?
Jehovah, how long shall I cry and thou wilt not hear? I cry out unto thee, Violence! and thou dost not save.
3 Por que razão me fazes vêr a iniquidade, e vês a vexação? porque a destruição e a violencia estão diante de mim, havendo tambem quem suscite a contenda e o litigio
Why dost thou cause me to see iniquity, and lookest thou upon grievance? For spoiling and violence are before me; and there is strife, and contention riseth up.
4 Por esta causa a lei se afrouxa, e a sentença nunca sae; porque o impio cérca o justo, e sae a sentença torcida.
Therefore the law is powerless, and justice doth never go forth; for the wicked encompasseth the righteous; therefore judgment goeth forth perverted.
5 Vêde entre as nações, e olhae, e maravilhae-vos, e estae maravilhados; porque obro uma obra em vossos dias que não crereis, quando se vos contar.
See ye among the nations, and behold, and wonder marvellously; for [I] work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be declared [to you].
6 Porque eis que suscito os chaldeos, nação amarga e apressada, que marcha sobre a largura da terra, para possuir moradas que não são suas.
For behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and impetuous nation, which marcheth through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling-places that are not theirs.
7 Horrivel e terrivel é; d'ella mesma sairá o seu juizo e a sua grandeza.
They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves.
8 E os seus cavallos são mais ligeiros do que os leopardos, e mais perspicazes do que os lobos á tarde, e os seus cavalleiros se espalham: os seus cavalleiros virão de longe; voarão como aguias que se apressam á comida.
And their horses are swifter than the leopards, and are more agile than the evening wolves; and their horsemen prance proudly, and their horsemen come from afar: they fly as an eagle that hasteth to devour.
9 Elles todos virão a fim de obrar violencia: os seus rostos buscarão o oriente, e congregará os captivos como areia.
They come all of them for violence: the crowd of their faces is forwards, and they gather captives as the sand.
10 E escarnecerão dos reis, e dos principes farão zombaria: elles se rirão de todas as fortalezas, porque amontoarão terra, e as tomarão.
Yea, he scoffeth at kings, and princes are a scorn unto him; he derideth every stronghold: for he heapeth up dust, and taketh it.
11 Então passará como vento, e traspassará, e se fará culpada, attribuindo este seu poder ao seu deus,
Then will his mind change, and he will pass on, and become guilty: this his power is become his god.
12 Porventura não és tu desde sempre, ó Senhor meu Deus, meu Sancto? nós não morreremos: ó Senhor, para juizo o pozeste, e tu, ó Rocha, o fundaste para castigar.
— Art thou not from everlasting, Jehovah my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. Jehovah, thou hast ordained him for judgment; and thou, O Rock, hast appointed him for correction.
13 Tu és tão puro de olhos, que não podes vêr o mal, e a vexação não podes contemplar: porque olhas para os que obram aleivosamente? porque te calas quando o impio devora aquelle que é mais justo do que elle?
[Thou art] of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on mischief: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, [and] keepest silence when the wicked swalloweth up a [man] more righteous than he?
14 E porque farias os homens como os peixes do mar, como os reptis, que não teem quem os governe?
And thou makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them.
15 Elle a todos tira com o anzol, apanhal-os-ha com a sua rede, e os ajunta na sua varredoura: por isso elle se alegra e se regozija.
He taketh up all of them with the hook, he catcheth them in his net, and gathereth them into his drag; therefore he rejoiceth and is glad:
16 Por isso sacrifica á sua rede, e queima incenso á sua varredoura; porque com ellas se engordou a sua porção, e se engrossou a sua comida.
therefore he sacrificeth unto his net, and burneth incense unto his drag; for by them his portion is become fat, and his meat dainty.
17 Porventura por isso vazará a sua rede, e não poupará de matar os povos continuamente?
Shall he therefore empty his net, and not spare to slay the nations continually?
