Gênesis 28
1 E Isaac chamou a Jacob, e abençoou-o, e ordenou-lhe, e disse-lhe: Não tomes mulher de entre as filhas de Canaan:
And Isaac having called for Jacob, blessed him, and charged him, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of the Chananites.
2 Levanta-te, vae a Paddan-aram, á casa de Bethuel, pae de tua mãe, e toma de lá uma mulher das filhas de Labão, irmão de tua mãe;
Rise and depart quickly into Mesopotamia, to the house of Bathuel the father of thy mother, and take to thyself thence a wife of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.
3 E Deus Todo-poderoso te abençoe, e te faça fructificar, e te multiplique, para que sejas uma multidão de povos;
And may my God bless thee, and increase thee, and multiply thee, and thou shalt become gatherings of nations.
4 E te dê abenção de Abrahão, a ti e á tua semente comtigo, para que em herança possuas a terra de tuas peregrinações, que Deus deu a Abrahão
And may he give thee the blessing of my father Abraam, even to thee and to thy seed after thee, to inherit the land of thy sojourning, which God gave to Abraam.
5 Assim enviou Isaac a Jacob, o qual se foi a Paddan-aram, a Labão, filho de Bethuel arameo, irmão de Rebecca, mãe de Jacob e de Esaú.
So Isaac sent away Jacob, and he went into Mesopotamia to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebecca the mother of Jacob and Esau.
6 Vendo pois Esaú que Isaac abençoára a Jacob, e o enviára a Paddan-aram, para tomar mulher para si d'ali, e que, abençoando-o, lhe ordenara, dizendo: Não tomes mulher das filhas de Canaan;
And Esau saw that Isaac blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Mesopotamia of Syria as he blessed him, to take to himself a wife thence, and [that] he charged him, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of the Chananites;
7 E que Jacob obedecera a seu pae e a sua mãe, e se fôra a Paddan-aram;
and [that] Jacob hearkened to his father and his mother, and went to Mesopotamia of Syria.
8 Vendo tambem Esaú que as filhas de Canaan eram más aos olhos de Isaac seu pae,
And Esau also having seen that the daughters of Chanaan were evil before his father Isaac,
9 Foi-se Esaú a Ishmael, e tomou para si por mulher, além das suas mulheres, a Mahalath filha de Ishmael, filho de Abrahão, irmã de Nebajoth.
Esau went to Ismael, and took Maeleth the daughter of Ismael, the son of Abraam, the sister of Nabeoth, a wife in addition to his [other] wives.
10 Partiu pois Jacob de Berseba, e foi-se a Haran;
And Jacob went forth from the well of the oath, and departed into Charrhan.
11 E chegou a um logar onde passou a noite, porque já o sol era posto; e tomou uma das pedras d'aquelle logar, e a poz por sua cabeceira, e deitou-se n'aquelle logar,
And came to a certain place and slept there, for the sun had gone down; and he took [one] of the stones of the place, and put it at his head, and lay down to sleep in that place,
12 E sonhou: e eis uma escada era posta na terra, cujo topo tocava nos céus: e eis que os anjos de Deus subiam e desciam por ella;
and dreamed, and behold a ladder fixed on the earth, whose top reached to heaven, and the angels of God ascended and descended on it.
13 E eis que o Senhor estava em cima d'ella, e disse: Eu sou o Senhor, o Deus de Abrahão teu pae, e o Deus de Isaac: esta terra, em que estás deitado, t'a darei a ti e á tua semente:
And the Lord stood upon it, and said, I am the God of thy father Abraam, and the God of Isaac; fear not, the land on which thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed.
14 E a tua semente será como o pó da terra, e estender-se-ha ao occidente, e ao oriente, e ao norte, e ao sul, e em ti e na tua semente serão bemditas todas as familias da terra:
And thy seed shall be as the sand of the earth; and it shall spread abroad to the sea, and the south, and the north, and to the east; and in thee and in thy seed shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed.
15 E eis que estou comtigo, e te guardarei por onde quer que fores, e te farei tornar a esta terra: porque te não deixarei, até que te haja feito o que te tenho dito.
And behold I am with thee to preserve thee continually in all the way wherein thou shalt go; and I will bring thee back to this land; for I will not desert thee, until I have done all that I have said to thee.
16 Acordado pois Jacob do seu somno, disse: Na verdade o Senhor está n'este logar; e eu não o sabia.
And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and said, The Lord is in this place, and I knew it not.
17 E temeu, e disse: Quão terrivel é este logar! Este não é outro logar senão a casa de Deus; e este é a porta dos céus.
And he was afraid, and said, How fearful is this place! this is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
18 Então levantou-se Jacob pela manhã de madrugada, e tomou a pedra que tinha posto por sua cabeceira, e a poz por columna, e derramou azeite em cima d'ella.
And Jacob rose up in the morning, and took the stone he [had] laid there by his head, and he set it up [as] a pillar, and poured oil on the top of it.
19 E chamou o nome d'aquelle logar Bethel: o nome porém d'aquella cidade d'antes era Luz.
And he called the name of that place, the House of God; and the name of the city before was Ulam-luz.
20 E Jacob votou um voto, dizendo: Se Deus fôr commigo, e me guardar n'esta viagem que faço, e me der pão para comer, e vestidos para vestir;
And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If the Lord God will be with me, and guard me throughout on this journey, on which I am going, and give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
21 E eu em paz tornar á casa de meu pae, o Senhor me será por Deus;
and bring me back in safety to the house of my father, then shall the Lord be for a God to me.
22 E esta pedra que tenho posto por columna será casa de Deus; e de tudo quanto me deres, certamente te darei o dizimo.
And this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be to me a house of God; and of all whatsoever thou shalt give me, I will tithe a tenth for thee.
