Ezequiel 18
1 E veiu a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:
The word of the LORD came to me again, saying,
2 Que tendes vós, vós que dizeis esta parabola da terra de Israel, dizendo: Os paes comeram uvas verdes, e os dentes dos filhos se embotaram?
What mean you, that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?
3 Vivo eu, diz o Senhor Jehovah, que nunca mais direis esta parabola em Israel.
As I live, says the Lord GOD, you shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
4 Eis que todas as almas são minhas; como o é a alma do pae, assim tambem a alma do filho é minha: a alma que peccar, essa morrerá.
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sins, it shall die.
5 Sendo pois o homem justo, e fazendo juizo e justiça,
But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
6 Se não comer sobre os montes, nem levantar os seus olhos para os idolos da casa de Israel, nem contaminar a mulher do seu proximo, nem se chegar á mulher na sua separação,
And has not eaten on the mountains, neither has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither has defiled his neighbor’s wife, neither has come near to a menstruous woman,
7 E se não opprimir a ninguem, tornando ao devedor o seu penhor, e se não fizer roubo, se der o seu pão ao faminto, e cobrir ao nú com vestido,
And has not oppressed any, but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has spoiled none by violence, has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment;
8 Se não der o seu dinheiro á usura, e não receber demais, se desviar a sua mão da injustiça, e fizer verdadeiro juizo entre homem e homem,
He that has not given forth on usury, neither has taken any increase, that has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true judgment between man and man,
9 Se andar nos meus estatutos, e guardar os meus juizos, para obrar segundo a verdade, o tal justo certamente viverá, diz o Senhor Jehovah.
Has walked in my statutes, and has kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, says the Lord GOD.
10 E se elle gerar um filho ladrão, derramador de sangue, que fizer a seu irmão qualquer d'estas coisas;
If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that does the like to any one of these things,
11 E que não fizer todas as demais coisas, mas antes comer sobre os montes, e contaminar a mulher de seu proximo,
And that does not any of those duties, but even has eaten on the mountains, and defiled his neighbor’s wife,
12 Opprimir ao afflicto e necessitado, fizer roubos, não tornar o penhor, e levantar os seus olhos para os idolos, e fizer abominação,
Has oppressed the poor and needy, has spoiled by violence, has not restored the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination,
13 Der o seu dinheiro á usura, e receber demais, porventura viverá? Não viverá: todas estas abominações elle fez, certamente morrerá; o seu sangue será sobre elle.
Has given forth on usury, and has taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be on him.
14 E eis que, se tambem elle gerar filho que vir todos os peccados que seu pae fez, e, vendo-os, não commetter coisas similhantes,
Now, see, if he beget a son, that sees all his father’s sins which he has done, and considers, and does not such like,
15 Não comer sobre os montes, e não levantar os seus olhos para os idolos da casa de Israel, e não contaminar a mulher de seu proximo,
That has not eaten on the mountains, neither has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, has not defiled his neighbor’s wife,
16 E não opprimir a ninguem, e não retiver o penhor, e não fizer roubo, der o seu pão ao faminto, e cobrir ao nú com vestido,
Neither has oppressed any, has not withheld the pledge, neither has spoiled by violence, but has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment,
17 Desviar do afflicto a sua mão, não receber usura em demasia, fizer os meus juizos, e andar nos meus estatutos, o tal não morrerá pela maldade de seu pae; certamente viverá.
That has taken off his hand from the poor, that has not received usury nor increase, has executed my judgments, has walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
18 Seu pae, porquanto fez oppressão, roubou os bens do irmão, e fez o que não era bom no meio de seu povo, eis que elle morrerá pela sua maldade.
As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, see, even he shall die in his iniquity.
19 Porém dizeis: Porque não levará o filho a maldade do pae? Porque o filho fez juizo e justiça, e guardou todos os meus estatutos, e os praticou, por isso certamente viverá.
Yet say you, Why? does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he shall surely live.
20 A alma que peccar, essa morrerá: o filho não levará a maldade do pae, nem o pae levará a maldade do filho: a justiça do justo será sobre elle, e a impiedade do impio será sobre elle.
The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him.
21 Mas se o impio se converter de todos os seus peccados que commetteu, e guardar todos os meus estatutos, e fizer juizo e justiça, certamente viverá; não morrerá.
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he has committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
22 De todas as suas transgressões que commetteu não haverá lembrança contra elle: pela sua justiça que praticou viverá.
All his transgressions that he has committed, they shall not be mentioned to him: in his righteousness that he has done he shall live.
23 Porventura de qualquer maneira desejaria eu a morte do impio? diz o Senhor Jehovah; porventura não desejo que se converta dos seus caminhos e viva?
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? says the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
24 Mas, desviando-se o justo da sua justiça, e commettendo a iniquidade, fazendo conforme todas as abominações que faz o impio, porventura viveria? de todas as suas justiças que tiver feito não se fará memoria: na sua transgressão com que transgrediu, e no seu peccado com que peccou, n'elles morrerá.
But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All his righteousness that he has done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die.
25 Dizeis, porém: O caminho do Senhor não é direito. Ouvi agora, ó casa d'Israel: Porventura não são os vossos caminhos indirectos?
Yet you say, The way of the LORD is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
26 Desviando-se o justo da sua justiça, e commettendo iniquidade, morrerá por ella: na sua iniquidade que commetteu morrerá.
When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in them; for his iniquity that he has done shall he die.
27 Porém, convertendo-se o impio da sua impiedade que commetteu, e praticando o juizo e a justiça, conservará este a sua alma em vida.
Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
28 Porquanto considera, e se converte de todas as suas transgressões que commetteu; certamente viverá, não morrerá.
Because he considers, and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
29 Comtudo, diz a casa d'Israel: O caminho do Senhor não é direito. Porventura os meus caminhos não serão direitos, ó casa de Israel? porventura não são os vossos caminhos indirectos?
Yet says the house of Israel, The way of the LORD is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
30 Portanto, eu vos julgarei, cada um conforme os seus caminhos, ó casa d'Israel, diz o Senhor Jehovah: tornae-vos, e convertei-vos de todas as vossas transgressões, e a iniquidade não vos servirá de tropeço.
Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, says the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
31 Lançae de vós todas as vossas transgressões com que transgredistes, e fazei-vos um coração novo e um espirito novo; pois por que razão morrerieis, ó casa d'Israel?
Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will you die, O house of Israel?
32 Porque não tomo prazer na morte do que morre, diz o Senhor Jehovah: convertei-vos, pois, e vivei.
For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dies, says the Lord GOD: why turn yourselves, and live you.
