Deuteronômio 5
1 E chamou Moysés a todo o Israel, e disse-lhes: Ouve, ó Israel, os estatutos e juizos que hoje vos fallo aos ouvidos: e aprendel-os-heis, e guardal-os-heis, para os fazer.
And Moses summoned all of Israel, and he said to them: “Listen, O Israel, to the ceremonies and judgments, which I am speaking to your ears on this day. Learn them, and fulfill them in deed.
2 O Senhor nosso Deus fez comnosco concerto em Horeb.
The Lord our God formed a covenant with us at Horeb.
3 Não com nossos paes fez o Senhor este concerto, senão comnosco, todos os que hoje aqui estamos vivos.
He did not make the covenant with our fathers, but with us, who are alive and in the present time.
4 Cara a cara o Senhor fallou comnosco no monte, do meio do fogo
He spoke to us face to face on the mountain, from the midst of fire.
5 (N'aquelle tempo eu estava em pé entre o Senhor e vós, para vos notificar a palavra do Senhor: porque temestes o fogo, e não subistes ao monte), dizendo:
I was the mediator, for I was in the middle between the Lord and you, at that time, to announce his words to you. For you were afraid of the fire, and so you did not ascend to the mountain. And he said:
6 Eu sou o Senhor teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egypto, da casa da servidão:
‘I am the Lord your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, from the house of servitude.
7 Não terás outros deuses diante de mim;
You shall not have strange gods in my sight.
8 Não farás para ti imagem de esculptura, nem similhança alguma do que ha em cima no céu, nem em baixo na terra, nem nas aguas debaixo da terra:
You shall not make for yourself a graven image, nor the likeness of anything, which is in heaven above, or on earth below, or which abides in the waters under the earth.
9 Não te encurvarás a ellas, nem as servirás: porque Eu, o Senhor teu Deus, sou Deus zeloso, que visito a maldade dos paes sobre os filhos, até á terceira e quarta geração d'aquelles que me aborrecem,
You shall not adore and you shall not worship these things. For I am the Lord your God, a jealous God, repaying the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation to those who hate me,
10 E faço misericordia em milhares aos que me amam, e guardam os meus mandamentos.
and acting with mercy in thousands of ways to those who love me and keep my precepts.
11 Não tomarás o nome do Senhor teu Deus em vão: porque o Senhor não terá por innocente ao que tomar o seu nome em vão;
You shall not use the name of the Lord your God in vain. For he will not go unpunished who takes up his name over an unimportant matter.
12 Guarda o dia de sabbado, para o sanctificar, como te ordenou o Senhor teu Deus.
Observe the day of the Sabbath, so that you may sanctify it, just as the Lord your God has instructed you.
13 Seis dias trabalharás, e farás toda a tua obra,
For six days, you shall labor and do all your work.
14 Mas o setimo dia é o sabbado do Senhor teu Deus: não farás nenhuma obra n'elle, nem tu, nem teu filho, nem tua filha, nem o teu servo, nem a tua serva, nem o teu boi, nem o teu jumento, nem animal algum teu, nem o estrangeiro que está dentro de tuas portas: para que o teu servo e a tua serva descancem como tu:
The seventh is the day of the Sabbath, that is, the rest of the Lord your God. You shall not do any work in it, nor shall your son, nor daughter, nor man servant, nor woman servant, nor ox, nor donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor the sojourner who is within your gates, so that your men and woman servants may rest, just as you do.
15 Porque te lembrarás que foste servo na terra do Egypto, e que o Senhor teu Deus te tirou d'ali com mão forte e braço estendido: pelo que o Senhor teu Deus te ordenou que guardasses o dia de sabbado.
Remember that you also were servants in Egypt, and the Lord your God led you away from that place with a strong hand and an outstretched arm. Because of this, he has instructed you so that you would observe the Sabbath day.
16 Honra a teu pae e a tua mãe, como o Senhor teu Deus te ordenou, para que se prolonguem os teus dias, e para que te vá bem na terra que te dá o Senhor teu Deus.
Honor your father and mother, just as the Lord your God has instructed you, so that you may live a long time, and so that it may be well with you in the land, which the Lord your God will give to you.
17 Não matarás.
You shall not murder.
18 E não adulterarás.
And you shall not commit adultery.
19 E não furtarás.
And you shall not commit theft.
20 E não dirás falso testemunho contra o teu proximo;
Neither shall you speak false testimony against your neighbor.
21 E não cobiçarás a mulher do teu proximo: e não desejarás a casa do teu proximo, nem o seu campo, nem o seu servo, nem a sua serva, nem o seu boi, nem o seu jumento, nem coisa alguma do teu proximo.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his house, nor his field, nor his man servant, nor his woman servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything out of all that is his.’
22 Estas palavras fallou o Senhor a toda a vossa congregação no monte do meio do fogo, da nuvem e da escuridade, com grande voz, e nada accrescentou: e as escreveu em duas taboas de pedra, e a mim m'as deu.
The Lord spoke these words to the entire multitude of you on the mountain, from the midst of the fire and the cloud and the darkness, with a loud voice, adding nothing more. And he wrote them on two tablets of stone, which he delivered to me.
23 E succedeu que, ouvindo a voz do meio das trevas, e vendo o monte ardendo em fogo, vos achegastes a mim, todos os Cabeças das vossas tribus, e vossos anciãos;
Then, after you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, and you saw the mountain burning, you approached me, all you leaders of the tribes and those greater by birth. And you said:
24 E dissestes: Eis aqui o Senhor vosso Deus nos fez ver a sua gloria e a sua grandeza, e ouvimos a sua voz do meio do fogo: hoje vimos que Deus falla com o homem, e que o homem fica vivo.
‘Behold, the Lord our God has revealed to us his majesty and his greatness. We have heard his voice from the midst of fire, and we have proven today that, though God is speaking with man, man has lived.
25 Agora pois, porque morreriamos? pois este grande fogo nos consumiria: se ainda mais ouvissemos a voz do Senhor nosso Deus, morreriamos.
Therefore, why should we die, and why should this very great fire devour us? For if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer, we will die.
26 Porque, quem ha de toda a carne, que ouviu a voz do Deus vivente fallando do meio do fogo, como nós, e ficou vivo?
What is all flesh, that it would hear the voice of the living God, who speaks from the midst of fire, just as we have heard it, and be able to live?
27 Chega-te tu, e ouve tudo o que disser o Senhor nosso Deus: e tu nos dirás tudo o que te disser o Senhor nosso Deus, e o ouviremos, e o faremos.
Instead, you should approach and listen to all the things that the Lord our God will say to you. And you will speak to us, and we will listen and do these things.’
28 Ouvindo pois o Senhor a voz das vossas palavras, quando me fallaveis a mim, o Senhor me disse: Eu ouvi a voz das palavras d'este povo, que te disseram: em tudo fallaram elles bem.
But when the Lord had heard this, he said to me: ‘I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they spoke to you. All this, they have spoken well.
29 Quem dera que elles tivessem tal coração que me temessem, e guardassem todos os meus mandamentos todos os dias! para que bem lhes fosse a elles e a seus filhos para sempre.
Who will grant to them to have such a mind, so that they may fear me, and may keep all my commandments at all times, so that it may be well with them and with their sons forever?
30 Vae, dize-lhes: Tornae-vos ás vossas tendas.
Go and say to them: Return to your tents.
31 Porém tu está aqui commigo, para que eu a ti te diga todos os mandamentos, e estatutos, e juizos, que tu lhes has de ensinar que façam na terra que eu lhes darei para possuil-a.
But as for you, stand here with me, and I will speak to you all my commandments and ceremonies, as well as judgments. These, you shall teach them, so that they may do them in the land, which I will give to them as a possession.
32 Olhae pois que façaes como vos mandou o Senhor vosso Deus: não declinareis, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda.
And so, keep and do the things which the Lord God has commanded you. You shall not turn aside, neither to the right, nor to the left.
33 Andareis em todo o caminho que vos manda o Senhor vosso Deus, para que vivaes e bem vos succeda, e prolongueis os dias na terra que haveis de possuir.
For you shall walk in the way that the Lord your God has instructed, so that you may live, and it may be well with you, and your days may be extended in the land of your possession.’”
