Daniel 4
1 Nabucodonozor rei: a todos os povos, nações, e linguas, que moram em toda a terra: Paz vos seja multiplicada.
Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all the peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied unto you.
2 Pareceu-me bem fazer notorios os signaes e maravilhas que Deus, o Altissimo, tem feito para comigo.
It hath seemed good unto me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God hath wrought toward me.
3 Quão grandes são os seus signaes, e quão poderosas as suas maravilhas! o seu reino é um reino sempiterno, e o seu dominio de geração em geração.
How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
4 Eu, Nabucodonozor, estava socegado em minha casa, e florescente no meu palacio.
I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace.
5 Tive um sonho, que me espantou; e as imaginações na minha cama e as visões da minha cabeça me turbaram.
I saw a dream which made me afraid; and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
6 Por mim pois se fez um decreto, para introduzir á minha presença todos os sabios de Babylonia, para que me fizessem saber a interpretação do sonho.
Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.
7 Então entraram os magos, os astrologos, os chaldeos, e os adivinhadores, e eu contei o sonho diante d'elles; mas não me fizeram saber a sua interpretação.
Then came in the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers; and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.
8 Porém por fim entrou na minha presença Daniel, cujo nome é Belteshazzar, segundo o nome do meu deus, e no qual ha o espirito dos deuses sanctos; e eu contei o sonho diante d'elle:
But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and I told the dream before him, [saying],
9 Belteshazzar, principe dos magos, pois eu sei que ha em ti o espirito dos deuses sanctos, e nenhum segredo te é difficil; dize-me as visões do meu sonho que tive e a sua interpretação.
O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.
10 Eram pois as visões da minha cabeça, na minha cama: eu estava vendo, e eis uma arvore no meio da terra, cuja altura era grande;
Thus were the visions of my head upon my bed: I saw, and, behold, a tree in the midst of the earth; and the height thereof was great.
11 Crescia esta arvore, e se fazia forte, de maneira que a sua altura chegava até ao céu; e foi vista até á extremidade de toda a terra.
The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth.
12 A sua folhagem era formosa, e o seu fructo muito, e havia n'ella sustento para todos: debaixo d'ella as bestas do campo achavam sombra, e as aves do céu faziam morada nos seus ramos, e toda a carne se mantinha d'ella.
The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was food for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the birds of the heavens dwelt in the branches thereof, and all flesh was fed from it.
13 Estava vendo nas visões da minha cabeça, na minha cama; e eis que um vigia, um sancto, descia do céu,
I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from heaven.
14 Clamando fortemente, e dizendo assim: Cortae a arvore, e decotae-lhe os ramos, sacudi as suas folhas, espalhae o seu fructo; afugentem-se as bestas de debaixo d'ella, e as aves dos seus ramos.
He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from its branches.
15 Porém o tronco com as suas raizes deixae na terra, e com atadura de ferro e de bronze, na herva do campo: e seja molhado do orvalho do céu, e a sua porção seja com as bestas na gramma da terra:
Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven: and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
16 Seja mudado o seu coração, que não seja mais coração de homem, e lhe seja dado coração de besta; e passem sobre elle sete tempos
let his heart be changed from man’s, and let a beast’s heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.
17 Esta sentença é por decreto dos vigiadores, e este mando por dito dos sanctos; a fim de que conheçam os viventes que o Altissimo domina sobre os reinos dos homens; e os dá a quem quer, e até ao mais baixo dos homens constitue sobre elles.
The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the lowest of men.
18 Isto em sonho vi eu, rei Nabucodonozor: tu, pois, Belteshazzar, dize a interpretação: porque todos os sabios do meu reino não poderam fazer-me saber a sua interpretação; mas tu podes; pois ha em ti o espirito dos deuses sanctos.
This dream I, king Nebuchadnezzar, have seen; and thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation; but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
19 Então Daniel, cujo nome era Belteshazzar, esteve attonito quasi uma hora, e os seus pensamentos o turbavam; fallou pois o rei, e disse: Belteshazzar, não te espante o sonho, nem a sua interpretação. Respondeu Belteshazzar, e disse; Senhor meu: o sonho seja contra os que te teem odio, e a sua interpretação aos teus inimigos.
Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was stricken dumb for a while, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine adversaries.
20 A arvore que viste, que cresceu, e se fez forte, cuja altura chegava até ao céu, e que foi vista por toda a terra,
The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
21 E cujas folhas eram formosas, e o seu fructo muito, e em que para todos havia mantimento, debaixo da qual moravam as bestas do campo, e em cujos ramos habitavam as aves do céu;
whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was food for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the birds of the heavens had their habitation:
22 Esta arvore és tu, ó rei, que cresceste, e te fizeste forte; e a tua grandeza cresceu, e chegou até ao céu, e o teu dominio até á extremidade da terra
it is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong; for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.
23 E quanto ao que viu o rei, um vigia, um sancto, que descia do céu, e disse: Cortae a arvore, e a destrui, porém o tronco com as suas raizes deixae na terra, e com atadura de ferro e de bronze, na herva do campo; e seja molhado do orvalho do céu, e a sua porção seja com as bestas do campo, até que passem sobre elle sete tempos:
And whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of heaven: and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;
24 Esta é a interpretação, ó rei: e este é o decreto do Altissimo, que virá sobre o rei, meu senhor,
this is the interpretation, O king, and it is the decree of the Most High, which is come upon my lord the king:
25 A saber: Lançar-te-hão de entre os homens, e a tua morada será com as bestas do campo, e te farão comer herva como os bois, e serás molhado do orvalho do céu; e passar-se-hão sete tempos por cima de ti: até que conheças que o Altissimo domina sobre o reino dos homens, e os dá a quem quer
that thou shalt be driven from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and thou shalt be made to eat grass as oxen, and shalt be wet with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee; till thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
26 E quanto ao que foi dito, que deixassem o tronco com as raizes da arvore, o teu reino te ficará firme, depois que tiveres conhecido que o céu reina.
And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the roots of the tree; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.
27 Portanto, ó rei, acceita o meu conselho, e desfaze os teus peccados pela justiça, e as tuas iniquidades usando de misericordia com os pobres, se porventura houver prolongação da tua paz
Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.
28 Todas estas coisas vieram sobre o rei Nabucodonozor.
All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.
29 Porque ao cabo de doze mezes, quando andava passeando sobre o palacio real de Babylonia,
At the end of twelve months he was walking in the royal palace of Babylon.
30 Fallou o rei, e disse: Porventura não é esta a grande Babylonia que eu edifiquei para a casa real, com a força da minha potencia, e para gloria da minha magnificencia?
The king spake and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling-place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?
31 Ainda estava a palavra na bocca do rei, quando caiu uma voz do céu: A ti se diz, ó rei Nabucodonozor: Passou de ti o reino.
While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, [saying], O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken: The kingdom is departed from thee:
32 E te lançarão d'entre os homens, e a tua morada será com as bestas do campo: far-te-hão comer herva como os bois, e passar-se-hão sete tempos sobre ti, até que conheças que o Altissimo domina sobre os reinos dos homens, e os dá a quem quer.
and thou shalt be driven from men; and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field; thou shalt be made to eat grass as oxen; and seven times shall pass over thee; until thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
33 Na mesma hora se cumpriu a palavra sobre Nabucodonozor, e foi lançado d'entre os homens, e comia herva como os bois, e o seu corpo foi molhado do orvalho do céu, até que lhe cresceu pello, como as pennas da aguia, e as suas unhas como as das aves.
The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hair was grown like eagles’ [feathers], and his nails like birds’ [claws].
34 Mas ao fim d'aquelles dias eu, Nabucodonozor, levantei os meus olhos ao céu, e tornou-me a vir o meu entendimento, e eu bemdisse o Altissimo, e louvei e glorifiquei ao que vive para sempre, cujo dominio é um dominio sempiterno, e cujo reino é de geração em geração.
And at the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him that liveth for ever; for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation;
35 E todos os moradores da terra são reputados em nada, e segundo a sua vontade faz com o exercito do céu e os moradores da terra: não ha quem possa estorvar a sua mão, e lhe diga, Que fazes?
and all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
36 No mesmo tempo me tornou a vir o meu entendimento, e para a dignidade do meu reino tornou-me a vir a minha magestade e o meu resplandor; e me buscaram os meus capitães e os meus grandes; e fui restabelecido no meu reino, e se me accrescentou uma gloria maior do que nunca.
At the same time mine understanding returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent greatness was added unto me.
37 Agora pois eu, Nabucodonozor, louvo, e exalço, e glorifico ao rei do céu; porque todas as suas obras são verdade, e os seus caminhos juizo, e pode humilhar aos que andam na soberba.
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
