Daniel 2

1 E no segundo anno do reinado de Nabucodonozor sonhou Nabucodonosor sonhos; e o seu espirito se perturbou, e passou-se-lhe o seu somno.

And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar has dreamed dreams, and his spirit moves itself, and his sleep has been against him;

2 E o rei mandou chamar os magos, e os astrologos, e os encantadores, e os chaldeos, para que declarassem ao rei os seus sonhos: os quaes vieram e se apresentaram diante do rei.

and the king says to call for enchanters, and for conjurers, and for sorcerers, and for Chaldeans, to declare to the king his dreams. And they come in and stand before the king;

3 E o rei lhes disse: Tive um sonho; e para saber o sonho está perturbado o meu espirito.

and the king says to them, “I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit is moved to know the dream.”

4 E os chaldeos disseram ao rei em syriaco: Ó rei, vive eternamente! dize o sonho a teus servos, e declararemos a interpretação.

And the Chaldeans speak to the king [in] Aramaic, “O king, live for all ages, tell the dream to your servants, and we show the interpretation.”

5 Respondeu o rei, e disse aos chaldeos: A coisa me tem escapado; se me não fizerdes saber o sonho e a sua interpretação, sereis despedaçados, e as vossas casas serão feitas um monturo;

The king has answered and said to the Chaldeans, “The thing is gone from me; if you do not cause me to know the dream and its interpretation, you are made pieces, and your houses are made dunghills;

6 Mas se vós me declarardes o sonho e a sua interpretação, recebereis de mim dons, e dadivas, e grande honra; portanto declarae-me o sonho e a sua interpretação.

and if the dream and its interpretation you show, gifts, and fee, and great glory you receive from before me, therefore the dream and its interpretation you show me.”

7 Responderam segunda vez, e disseram: Diga o rei o sonho a seus servos, e declararemos a sua interpretação.

They have answered a second time, and are saying, “Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we show the interpretation.”

8 Respondeu o rei, e disse: Conheço eu certamente que vós quereis ganhar tempo; porque vêdes que a coisa me tem escapado.

The king has answered and said, “Of a truth I know that you are gaining time, because that you have seen that the thing is gone from me,

9 De maneira que, se me não fazeis saber o sonho, uma só sentença será a vossa; pois vós preparastes palavras mentirosas e perversas para as proferir na minha presença, até que se mude o tempo: portanto dizei-me o sonho, para que eu entenda que me podeis declarar a sua interpretação.

[so] that, if you do not cause me to know the dream—one is your sentence, seeing a lying and corrupt word you have prepared to speak before me, until the time is changed, therefore tell the dream to me, then I know that you show me its interpretation.”

10 Responderam os chaldeos na presença do rei, e disseram: Não ha ninguem sobre a terra que possa declarar a palavra ao rei; pois nenhum rei ha, grande ou dominador, que requeresse coisa similhante d'algum mago, ou astrologo, ou chaldeo.

The Chaldeans have answered before the king, and are saying, “There is not a man on the earth who is able to show the king’s matter; therefore, no king, chief, and ruler, has asked such a thing as this of any scribe, and enchanter, and Chaldean;

11 Porque a coisa que o rei requer é difficil; nem ha outro que a possa declarar diante do rei, senão os deuses, cuja morada não é com a carne.

and the thing that the king is asking [is] precious, and there are no others that show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”

12 Por isso o rei muito se irou e enfureceu; e ordenou que matassem a todos os sabios de Babylonia.

Therefore the king has been furious and very angry, and has said to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

13 E saiu o mandado, e sairam a matar os sabios; e buscaram a Daniel e aos seus companheiros, para que fossem mortos.

And the sentence has gone forth, and the wise men are being slain, and they have sought Daniel and his companions to be slain.

14 Então Daniel fallou avisada e prudentemente a Arioch, capitão da guarda do rei, que tinha saido para matar os sabios de Babylonia.

Then Daniel has replied [with] counsel and discretion to Arioch chief of the executioners of the king, who has gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon.

15 Respondeu, e disse a Arioch, prefeito do rei: Porque se apressa tanto o mandado da parte do rei? Então Arioch fez saber a coisa a Daniel.

He has answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, “Why [is] the sentence so urgent from before the king?” Then Arioch has made the thing known to Daniel,

16 E Daniel entrou; e pediu ao rei que lhe désse tempo, para declarar a interpretação ao rei.

and Daniel has gone up, and sought of the king that he would give him time to show the interpretation to the king.

17 Então Daniel foi para a sua casa, e fez saber a coisa a Hananias, Misael e Azarias, seus companheiros:

Then Daniel has gone to his house, and to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, he has made the thing known,

18 Para que pedissem misericordia ao Deus do céu, sobre este segredo, afim de que Daniel e seus companheiros não perecessem, juntamente com o resto dos sabios de Babylonia.

and to seek mercies from before the God of the heavens concerning this secret, that they do not destroy Daniel and his companions with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

19 Então foi revelado o segredo a Daniel n'uma visão de noite: então Daniel louvou o Deus do céu.

Then to Daniel, in a vision of the night, the secret has been revealed. Then Daniel has blessed the God of the heavens.

20 Fallou Daniel, e disse: Seja bemdito o nome de Deus desde o seculo até ao seculo, porque d'elle é a sabedoria e a força;

Daniel has answered and said, “Let the Name of God be blessed from age even to age, for wisdom and might—for they are His.

21 E elle muda os tempos e as horas; elle remove os reis e estabelece os reis: elle dá sabedoria aos sabios e sciencia aos entendidos.

And He is changing times and seasons, He is causing kings to pass away, and He is raising up kings; He is giving wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those possessing understanding.

22 Elle revela o profundo e o escondido: conhece o que está em trevas, e com elle a luz mora.

He is revealing deep and hidden things; He has known what [is] in darkness, and light has dwelt with Him.

23 Ó Deus de meus paes, te louvo e celebro eu, que me déste sabedoria e força; e agora me fizeste saber o que te pedimos, porque nos fizeste saber a coisa do rei.

You, O God of my fathers, I am thanking and praising, for wisdom and might You have given to me; and now, You have caused me to know that which we have sought from You, for the king’s matter You have caused us to know.”

24 Por isso Daniel entrou a Arioch, ao qual o rei tinha constituido para matar os sabios de Babylonia: entrou, e disse-lhe assim: Não mates os sabios de Babylonia; introduze-me na presença do rei, e declararei ao rei a interpretação.

Therefore Daniel has gone up to Arioch, whom the king has appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon; he has gone, and thus has said to him, “You do not destroy the wise men of Babylon, bring me up before the king, and I show the interpretation to the king.”

25 Então Arioch depressa introduziu a Daniel na presença do rei, e disse-lhe assim: Achei um d'entre os filhos dos captivos de Judah, o qual fará saber ao rei a interpretação.

Then Arioch in haste has brought up Daniel before the king, and thus has said to him, “I have found a man of the sons of the expulsion of Judah, who makes known the interpretation to the king.”

26 Respondeu o rei, e disse a Daniel (cujo nome era Belteshazzar): Podes tu fazer-me saber o sonho que vi e a sua interpretação?

The king has answered and said to Daniel, whose name [is] Belteshazzar, “Are you able to cause me to know the dream that I have seen, and its interpretation?”

27 Respondeu Daniel na presença do rei, e disse: O segredo que o rei requer, nem sabios, nem astrologos, nem magos, nem adivinhos o podem declarar ao rei;

Daniel has answered before the king and said, “The secret that the king is asking, the wise men, the enchanters, the scribes, the soothsayers, are not able to show to the king;

28 Mas ha um Deus nos céus, o qual revela os segredos; elle pois fez saber ao rei Nabucodonozor o que ha de ser no fim dos dias; o teu sonho e as visões da tua cabeça na tua cama são estas:

but there is a God in the heavens, a revealer of secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar that which [is] to be in the latter end of the days. Your dream and the visions of your head on your bed are these:

29 Estando tu, ó rei, na tua cama, subiram os teus pensamentos, ácerca do que ha de ser depois d'isto. Aquelle pois que revela os segredos te fez saber o que ha de ser.

You, O king, your thoughts on your bed have come up [concerning] that which [is] to be after this, and the Revealer of secrets has caused you to know that which [is] to be.

30 E a mim, não pela sabedoria que em mim haja, mais do que em todos os viventes, me foi revelado este segredo, mas para que a interpretação se fizesse saber ao rei, e para que entendesse os pensamentos do teu coração.

As for me—not for [any] wisdom that is in me above any living has this secret been revealed to me; but for the intent that the interpretation to the king they make known, and the thoughts of your heart you know.

31 Tu, ó rei, estavas vendo, e eis aqui uma grande estatua: esta estatua era grande, e o seu esplendor era excellente, e estava em pé diante de ti; e a sua vista era terrivel.

You, O king, were looking, and behold, a certain great image. This image [is] mighty, and its brightness excellent; it is standing before you, and its appearance [is] terrible.

32 A cabeça d'aquella estatua era de oiro fino; o seu peito e os seus braços de prata; o seu ventre e as suas coxas de cobre;

This image! Its head [is] of fine gold, its breasts and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze;

33 As pernas de ferro; os seus pés em parte de ferro e em parte de barro.

its legs of iron, its feet, part of them of iron, and part of them of clay.

34 Estavas vendo, até que uma pedra foi cortada, sem mão, a qual feriu a estatua nos pés de ferro e de barro, e os esmiuçou.

You were looking until a stone has been cut out without hands, and it has struck the image on its feet, that [are] of iron and of clay, and it has broken them small;

35 Então foi juntamente esmiuçado o ferro, o barro, o cobre, a prata e o oiro, e se fizeram como pragana das eiras do estio, e o vento os levou, e não se achou logar algum para elles; mas a pedra, que feriu a estatua, se fez um grande monte, e encheu toda a terra.

then broken small together have been the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold, and they have been as chaff from the summer threshing-floor, and the wind has carried them away, and no place has been found for them: and the stone that struck the image has become a great mountain, and has filled all the land.

36 Este é o sonho; tambem a interpretação d'elle diremos na presença do rei

This [is] the dream, and its interpretation we tell before the king.

37 Tu, ó rei, és rei de reis: pois o Deus do céu te tem dado o reino, a potencia, e a força, e a magestade.

You, O king, are a king of kings, for the God of the heavens a kingdom, strength, and might, and glory, has given to you;

38 E onde quer que habitem filhos de homens, bestas do campo, e aves do céu, t'os entregou na tua mão, e fez que dominasses sobre todos elles; tu és a cabeça de oiro.

and wherever sons of men are dwelling, the beast of the field, and the bird of the heavens, He has given into your hand, and has caused you to rule over them all; you [are] this head of gold.

39 E depois de ti se levantará outro reino, inferior ao teu; e outro terceiro reino, de metal, o qual dominará sobre toda a terra.

And after you another kingdom arises lower than those, and another third kingdom of bronze, that rules over all the earth.

40 E o quarto reino será forte como ferro; da maneira que o ferro esmiuça e enfraquece tudo, como o ferro, que quebranta todas estas coisas, assim esmiuçará e quebrantará.

And the fourth kingdom is strong as iron, because that iron is breaking small, and making feeble, all [things], even as iron that is breaking all these, it beats small and breaks.

41 E, quanto ao que viste dos pés e dos dedos, em parte de barro de oleiro, e em parte de ferro, isso será um reino dividido; comtudo haverá n'elle alguma coisa da firmeza do ferro, porquanto viste o ferro misturado com barro de lodo.

As for that which you have seen: the feet and toes, part of them potter’s clay, and part of them iron, the kingdom is divided: and some of the standing of the iron [is] to be in it, because that you have seen the iron mixed with miry clay.

42 E os dedos dos pés, em parte de ferro e em parte de barro, querem dizer: por uma parte o reino será forte, e por outra será fragil.

As for the toes of the feet, part of them iron, and part of them clay: some part of the kingdom is strong, and some part of it is brittle.

43 Quanto ao que viste do ferro misturado com barro de lodo, misturar-se-hão com semente humana, mas não se apegarão um ao outro, assim como o ferro se não mistura com o barro.

Because you have seen iron mixed with miry clay, they are mixing themselves with the seed of men: and they are not adhering with one another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

44 Mas, nos dias d'estes reis, o Deus do céu levantará um reino que não será jámais destruido; e este reino não será deixado a outro povo: esmiuçará e consumirá todos estes reinos, mas elle mesmo estará estabelecido para sempre.

And in the days of these kings the God of the heavens raises up a kingdom that is not destroyed for all time, and its kingdom is not left to another people: it beats small and ends all these kingdoms, and it stands for all time.

45 Da maneira que viste que do monte foi cortada uma pedra, sem mãos, e ella esmiuçou o ferro, o cobre, o barro, a prata e o oiro, o Deus grande fez saber ao rei o que ha de ser depois d'isto; e certo é o sonho, e fiel a sua interpretação.

Because that you have seen that out of the mountain a stone has been cut without hands, and it has beaten the iron small, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God has made known to the king that which [is] to be after this; and the dream [is] true, and its interpretation steadfast.”

46 Então o rei Nabucodonozor caiu sobre o seu rosto, e adorou a Daniel, e ordenou que lhe sacrificassem offerta de manjares e perfumes suaves.

Then King Nebuchadnezzar has fallen on his face, and to Daniel he has done homage, and present, and sweet things, he has said to pour out to him.

47 Respondeu o rei a Daniel, e disse: Certo é que o vosso Deus é Deus de deuses, e o Senhor dos reis, e o revelador dos segredos, pois podeste revelar este segredo.

The king has answered Daniel and said, “Of a truth [it is] that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you have been able to reveal this secret.”

48 Então o rei engrandeceu a Daniel, e lhe deu muitos e grandes dons, e o poz por governador de toda a provincia de Babylonia, como tambem por principe dos prefeitos sobre todos os sabios de Babylonia.

Then the king has made Daniel great, and many great gifts he has given to him, and has caused him to rule over all the province of Babylon, and chief of the prefects over all the wise men of Babylon.

49 E pediu Daniel ao rei, e constituiu elle sobre os negocios da provincia de Babylonia a Sadrach, Mesach e Abed-nego; porém Daniel estava á porta do rei.

And Daniel has sought from the king, and he has appointed over the work of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and Daniel [is] in the gate of the king.
