Amós 1
1 As palavras de Amós, que era d'entre os pastores de Tecoa, as quaes viu sobre Israel, nos dias de Uzias, rei de Judah, e nos dias de Jeroboão, filho de Joás, rei de Israel, dois annos antes do terremoto.
The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa, which he prophesied concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earth quake. He said: —
2 E disse: O Senhor bramará de Sião, e de Jerusalem dará a sua voz: as habitações dos pastores prantearão, e seccar-se-ha o cume do Carmelo.
Jehovah will roar from Zion, And utter his voice from Jerusalem; The habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, And the top of Carmel shall wither.
3 Assim diz o Senhor: Por tres transgressões de Damasco, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque trilharam a Gilead com trilhos de ferro.
Thus saith Jehovah; For three transgressions of Damascus, And for four, will I not turn away its punishment; For they thrashed Gilead with thrashing-wains of iron.
4 Por isso porei fogo á casa de Hazael, e consumirá os palacios de Benhadad.
I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael, Which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
5 E quebrarei o ferrolho de Damasco, e exterminarei o morador de Biqueat-aven, e ao que tem o sceptro de Beth-eden; e o povo da Syria será levado em captiveiro a Kir, diz o Senhor.
I will also break the bar of Damascus, And I will destroy the inhabitant from the valley of Aven, And him that holdeth the sceptre from Beth-Eden, And the people of Syria shall be led captive to Kir: Jehovah hath said it.
6 Assim diz o Senhor: Por tres transgressões de Gaza, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque levaram em captiveiro todos os captivos para os entregarem a Edom.
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Gaza, And for four, I will not turn away its punishment; For they led captive all that fell into their hands, And delivered them up to Edom.
7 Por isso porei fogo ao muro de Gaza, que consumirá os seus palacios.
But I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, Which shall devour her palaces.
8 E exterminarei o morador de Asdod, e o que tem o sceptro de Ascalon, e tornarei a minha mão contra Ecron; e o resto dos philisteos perecerá, diz o Senhor Jehovah.
And I will destroy the inhabitant from Ashdod, And him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon; And I will turn my hand against Ekron, And the residue of the Philistines shall perish. The Lord, Jehovah, hath said it.
9 Assim diz o Senhor: Por tres transgressões de Tyro, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque entregaram todos os captivos a Edom, e não se lembraram da alliança dos irmãos.
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Tyre, And for four, will I not turn away its punishment; Because they delivered up all their captives to Edom, And remembered not the brotherly covenant.
10 Por isso porei fogo ao muro de Tyro, que consumirá os seus palacios.
But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre, Which shall devour her palaces.
11 Assim diz o Senhor: Por tres transgressões de Edom, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque perseguiu a seu irmão á espada, e corrompeu as suas misericordias; e a sua ira despedaça eternamente, e retem a sua indignação para sempre
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Edom, And for four, will I not turn away his punishment; For he pursued his brother with the sword, And cast off all pity, And his anger tore perpetually; Yea, he kept his wrath forever.
12 Por isso porei fogo a Teman, que consumirá os palacios de Bozra.
But I will send a fire upon Teman. Which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 Assim diz o Senhor: Por tres transgressões dos filhos de Ammon, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque fenderam as gravidas de Gilead, para dilatarem os seus termos.
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, And for four, will I not turn away their punishment; For they ripped up the women with child of Gilead, That they might enlarge their border.
14 Por isso porei fogo ao muro de Rabba, que consumirá os seus palacios, com alarido no dia da batalha, com tempestade no dia da tormenta.
But I will kindle a fire on the wall of Rabbah, Which shall devour her palaces, Amid the war-shout in the day of battle, In a whirlwind in the day of the storm.
15 E o seu rei irá para o captiveiro, elle e os seus principes juntamente, diz o Senhor.
Their king shall go into captivity, He and his princes together, saith Jehovah.
