Amós 5
1 Ouvi esta palavra, que levanto sobre vós uma lamentação, ó casa de Israel.
Hear this word, O house of Israel, this lamentation I take up against you:
2 A virgem de Israel caiu, nunca mais tornará a levantar-se: desamparada está na sua terra, não ha quem a levante.
“Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again. She lies abandoned on her land, with no one to raise her up.”
3 Porque assim diz o Senhor Jehovah: A cidade da qual saem mil conservará cem, e aquella da qual saem cem conservará dez á casa de Israel.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “The city that marches out a thousand strong will only see a hundred return, and the one that marches out a hundred strong will have but ten left in the house of Israel.”
4 Porque assim diz o Senhor á casa de Israel: Buscae-me, e vivei.
For this is what the LORD says to the house of Israel: “Seek Me and live!
5 Porém não busqueis a Beth-el, nem venhaes a Gilgal, nem passeis a Berseba, porque Gilgal certamente será levado captivo, e Beth-el será desfeito em nada.
Do not seek Bethel or go to Gilgal; do not journey to Beersheba, for Gilgal will surely go into exile, and Bethel will come to nothing.
6 Buscae ao Senhor, e vivei, para que não accommetta a casa de José como um fogo, e a consuma, e não haja em Beth-el quem o apague.
Seek the LORD and live, or He will sweep like fire through the house of Joseph; it will devour everything, with no one at Bethel to extinguish it.
7 (Os que pervertem o juizo em alosna, e deitam na terra a justiça.)
There are those who turn justice into wormwood and cast righteousness to the ground.
8 O que faz o setestrello, e o orion, e torna a sombra da noite em manhã, e escurece o dia como a noite, que chama as aguas do mar, e as derrama sobre a terra, o Senhor é o seu nome.
He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns darkness into dawn and darkens day into night, who summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth— the LORD is His name—
9 O que esforça o despojado contra o forte: assim que venha a assolação contra a fortaleza.
He flashes destruction on the strong, so that fury comes upon the stronghold.
10 Na porta aborrecem o que os reprehende, e abominam o que falla sinceramente.
There are those who hate the one who reproves in the gate and despise him who speaks with integrity.
11 Portanto, visto que pizaes o pobre, e d'elle tomaes um cargo de trigo, edificastes casas de pedras lavradas, mas n'ellas não habitareis; vinhas desejaveis plantastes, mas não bebereis do seu vinho.
Therefore, because you trample on the poor and exact from him a tax of grain, you will never live in the stone houses you have built; you will never drink the wine from the lush vineyards you have planted.
12 Porque sei que são muitas as vossas transgressões, e grossos os vossos peccados: affligem o justo, tomam resgate, e rejeitam os necessitados na porta.
For I know that your transgressions are many and your sins are numerous. You oppress the righteous by taking bribes; you deprive the poor of justice in the gate.
13 Portanto, o prudente n'aquelle tempo se calará, porque o tempo será mau.
Therefore, the prudent keep silent in such times, for the days are evil.
14 Buscae o bem, e não o mal, para que vivaes: e assim o Senhor, o Deus dos Exercitos, estará comvosco, como dizeis.
Seek good, not evil, so that you may live. And the LORD, the God of Hosts, will be with you, as you have claimed.
15 Aborrecei o mal, e amae o bem, e estabelecei o juizo na porta: porventura o Senhor, o Deus dos Exercitos, terá piedade do resto de José.
Hate evil and love good; establish justice in the gate. Perhaps the LORD, the God of Hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”
16 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus dos Exercitos, o Senhor: Em todas as ruas haverá pranto, e em todos os bairros dirão: Ai! ai! E ao lavrador chamarão a choro, e ao pranto aos que souberem prantear.
Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says: “There will be wailing in all the public squares and cries of ‘Alas! Alas!’ in all the streets. The farmer will be summoned to mourn, and the mourners to wail.
17 E em todas as vinhas haverá pranto; porque passarei pelo meio de ti, diz o Senhor.
There will be wailing in all the vineyards, for I will pass through your midst,”
18 Ai d'aquelles que desejam o dia do Senhor! para que pois vos será este dia do Senhor? trevas será e não luz.
Woe to you who long for the Day of the LORD! What will the Day of the LORD be for you? It will be darkness and not light.
19 Como o que foge de diante do leão, e se encontra com elle o urso, ou como se entrasse n'uma casa, e a sua mão encostasse á parede, e fosse mordido d'uma cobra.
It will be like a man who flees from a lion, only to encounter a bear, or who enters his house and rests his hand against the wall, only to be bitten by a snake.
20 Não será pois o dia do Senhor trevas e não luz? e escuridade, sem que haja resplandor?
Will not the Day of the LORD be darkness and not light, even gloom with no brightness in it?
21 Aborreço, desprezo as vossas festas, e os vossos dias de prohibição não me darão bom cheiro.
“I hate, I despise your feasts! I cannot stand the stench of your solemn assemblies.
22 Porque ainda que me offereceis holocaustos, como tambem as vossas offertas de manjares, não me agrado d'ellas: nem attentarei para as offertas pacificas de vossos animaes gordos.
Even though you offer Me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; for your peace offerings of fattened cattle I will have no regard.
23 Affasta de mim o estrepito dos teus canticos; porque não ouvirei as psalmodias dos teus instrumentos.
Take away from Me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
24 Corra porém o juizo como as aguas, e a justiça como o ribeiro impetuoso.
But let justice roll on like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
25 Haveis-me porventura offerecido sacrificios e offertas no deserto por quarenta annos, ó casa de Israel?
Did you bring Me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
26 Antes levastes a tenda de vosso Moloch, e a estatua das vossas imagens, a estrella do vosso deus, que fizestes para vós mesmos.
You have taken along Sakkuth your king and Kaiwan your star god, the idols you made for yourselves.
27 Portanto vos levarei captivos, para além de Damasco, diz o Senhor, cujo nome é o Deus dos exercitos.
Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus,” says the LORD, whose name is the God of Hosts.
