Amós 4
1 Ouvi esta palavra, vós, vaccas de Basan, vós, que estaes no monte de Samaria, vós, que opprimis aos pobres, que quebrantaes os necessitados, vós, que dizeis a seus senhores: Dae cá, para que bebamos.
Hear these words, O ye kine of Bashan, That are on the mountain of Samaria; That oppress the poor; that crush the needy; That say to your master, Bring, and let us drink!
2 Jurou o Senhor Jehovah, pela sua sanctidade, que eis que dias estão para vir sobre vós, em que vos levarão com anzoes e a vossos descendentes com anzoes de pesca.
The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by his holiness; Behold, the days shall come upon you When ye shall be taken away with hooks, And your residue with fishing-hooks.
3 E saireis pelas brechas, uma após outra, e lançareis fóra o que levastes para o palacio, disse o Senhor.
And ye shall go out at the breaches, every one right forward, And ye shall be thrown into a castle, saith Jehovah.
4 Vinde a Beth-el, e transgredi, em Gilgal augmentae as transgressões, e de manhã trazei os vossos sacrificios, e os vossos dizimos ao terceiro dia.
Go, now, to Bethel, and transgress; At Gilgal multiply transgression! Bring your sacrifices every morning, And your tithes every three years!
5 E queimae o sacrificio de louvores do pão levedado, e apregoae os sacrificios voluntarios, fazei-o ouvir; porque assim o quereis, ó filhos de Israel, disse o Senhor Jehovah.
Burn a thank-offering from your extortions, And proclaim the free-will offerings; publish them abroad! For this is your delight, ye sons of Israel, Saith the Lord, Jehovah.
6 Por isso tambem vos dei limpeza de dentes em todas as vossas cidades, e falta de pão em todos os vossos logares; comtudo não vos convertestes a mim, disse o Senhor.
I also have caused cleanness of teeth in all your cities, And want of bread in all your places; And yet ye have not returned to me, saith Jehovah.
7 Além d'isso, retive de vós a chuva, faltando ainda tres mezes até á sega; e fiz chover sobre uma cidade, e sobre outra cidade não fiz chover; sobre um campo choveu, mas o outro, sobre o qual não choveu, se seccou.
I also have withholden from you the rain three months before the harvest; I have caused it to rain upon one city, And upon another city have I not caused it to rain; One piece of ground hath been rained upon, And another, upon which I have not caused it to rain, hath withered.
8 E andaram vagabundas duas ou tres cidades a uma cidade, para beberem agua, mas não se saciaram: comtudo não vos convertestes a mim, disse o Senhor.
Two or three cities have gone to one city, To drink water, and have not been satisfied; And yet ye have not returned to me, saith Jehovah.
9 Feri-vos com queimadura, e com ferrugem; a multidão das vossas hortas, e das vossas vinhas, e das vossas figueiras, e das vossas oliveiras, comeu a locusta; comtudo não vos convertestes a mim, disse o Senhor.
I have smitten you with blasting and mildew; The locust hath devoured your many gardens, Your vineyards, your fig-trees, and your olive-trees; Yet have ye not returned to me, saith Jehovah.
10 Enviei a peste contra vós, á maneira do Egypto: os vossos mancebos matei á espada, e os vossos cavallos deixei levar presos, e o fedor dos vossos exercitos fiz subir aos vossos narizes; comtudo não vos convertestes a mim, disse o Senhor.
I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt; I have slain your young men with the sword, And your horses have I led into captivity; I have made the smell of your camps to come up into your nostrils; And yet ye have not returned to me, saith Jehovah.
11 Subverti a alguns d'entre vós, como Deus subverteu a Sodoma e Gomorrah, sendo vós como um tição arrebatado do incendio; comtudo não vos convertestes a mim, disse o Senhor.
I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah; And ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning; And yet ye have not returned to me, saith Jehovah.
12 Portanto, assim te farei, ó Israel! Porquanto pois isto te farei, prepara-te, ó Israel, a encontrares o teu Deus.
Therefore thus will I deal with thee, O Israel! Yet since I will thus deal with thee, Prepare to meet thy God, O Israel!
13 Porque eis que o que fórma os montes, e cria o vento, e declara ao homem qual seja o seu pensamento, o que faz da manhã trevas, e piza os altos da terra, o Senhor Deus dos Exercitos é o seu nome.
For behold, he formed the mountains, and created the wind; He declareth to man what is his thought; He maketh the morning darkness, And walketh upon the high places of the earth; Jehovah, God of hosts, is his name.
