2 Timóteo 2
1 Tu, pois, meu filho, fortifica-te na graça que ha em Christo Jesus.
Do you then, my son, strengthen you heart in the grace which is in Christ Jesus.
2 E o que de mim, d'entre muitas testemunhas, ouviste, confia-o a homens fieis, que sejam idoneos para tambem ensinarem os outros.
The teachings which you have heard from me, attested by many witnesses, deliver into the keeping of faithful men, who in their turn will be able to teach others also.
3 Tu, pois, soffre as afflicções como bom soldado de Jesus Christo.
Take your share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 Ninguem que milita se embaraça com negocios d'esta vida, para agradar áquelle que o alistou para a guerra.
A soldier in active service avoids entangling himself in the every- day affairs of life, so that he may please his commander.
5 E, se alguem tambem milita, não é coroado se não militar legitimamente.
And again, an athlete is not crowned unless he obeys the rules of the game.
6 O lavrador que trabalha deve ser o primeiro a gozar dos fructos.
The farmer who has done the work should be the first to get a share of the crop.
7 Considera o que digo: o Senhor, porém, te dê entendimento em tudo.
Reflect on what I am telling you. The Lord will give you understanding in everything.
8 Lembra-te de que Jesus Christo, que é da descendencia de David, resuscitou dos mortos, segundo o meu evangelho;
Always remember that Jesus Christ, a descendant of David, has been raised from the dead according to the gospel I proclaim.
9 Pelo que soffro trabalhos e até prisões, como um malfeitor; mas a palavra de Deus não está presa.
For preaching it I am suffering, and am even put in chains as a malefacter. But God’s message is no prisoner.
10 Portanto tudo soffro por amor dos escolhidos, para que tambem elles alcancem a salvação que está em Christo Jesus com gloria eterna. (aiōnios g166)
That is why I endure everything for the sake of the chosen, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
11 Palavra fiel é esta: que, se morrermos com elle, tambem com elle viveremos:
Faithful is the saying. "If we have died with him, we shall also live with him.
12 Se soffrermos, tambem com elle reinaremos: se o negarmos, tambem elle nos negará:
If we endure suffering, we shall also reign with him. If we disown him, he too will disown us.
13 Se formos infiéis, elle permanece fiel: não pode negar-se a si mesmo.
If we prove faithless. he abides faithful, for he cannot be false to himself."
14 Traze estas coisas á memoria, protestando diante do Senhor que não tenham contendas de palavras, que para nada aproveitam senão para perversão dos ouvintes.
Always call these truths to men’s mind; adjuring them in the presence of God to avoid controversy. It is a useless thing, and subverts those who listen to it.
15 Procura apresentar-te a Deus approvado, como obreiro que não tem de que se envergonhar, que maneja bem a palavra da verdade.
Strive earnestly to present yourself unto God, tested and proved worthy by trial, a workman unashamed, ever cutting a straight path for the message of the truth.
16 Mas oppõe-te aos clamores vãos e profanos, porque produzirão maior impiedade.
but avoid profane babble; for people will go farther and farther in impiety,
17 E a sua palavra roerá como cancro; entre os quaes são Hymeneo e Phileto;
and their teaching will spread like a gangrene.
18 Os quaes se desviaram da verdade, dizendo que a resurreição era já feita, e perverteram a fé de alguns.
Among such are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have gone astray concerning the truth by declaring that the resurrection is already past; and they are undermining the faith of some.
19 Todavia o fundamento de Deus fica firme, tendo este sello: O Senhor conhece os que são seus, e qualquer que nomeia o nome de Christo aparte-se da iniquidade.
Nevertheless God’s firm foundation stands unshaken, bearing this inscription, THE LORD KNOWS THOSE WHO ARE HIS, and this also, LET EVERY ONE WHO NAMES THE NAME OF THE LORD RENOUNCE WICKEDNESS.
20 Ora n'uma grande casa não sómente ha vasos de oiro e de prata, mas tambem de pau e de barro, e uns para honra, outros, porém, para deshonra.
Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for noble, some for ignoble uses.
21 De sorte que, se alguem se purificar d'estas coisas, será vaso para honra, sanctificado e idoneo para uso do Senhor, e preparado para toda a boa obra.
If then a man keeps himself clear of these latter, he will be a vessel for honor, consecrated, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.
22 Foge tambem dos desejos da mocidade; e segue a justiça, a fé, a caridade, e a paz com os que, com um coração puro, invocam o Senhor.
Flee from the passions of youth, but run after righteousness, faith, love, and peace, in company with those who out of a pure heart call upon the Lord.
23 E rejeita as questões loucas, e sem instrucção, sabendo que produzem contendas.
Ever shun foolish and puerile discussions, for you know that they lead to quarrels.
24 E ao servo do Senhor não convém contender, mas sim ser manso para com todos, apto para ensinar e supportar os maus;
The Lord’s slave must not quarrel, but must be kind to all men; a skilful teacher, patient of wrong.
25 Instruindo com mansidão os que resistem, se porventura Deus lhes der arrependimento para conhecerem a verdade,
He must be gentle when instructing opponents; for possibly God may give them a change of mind for the recognition of the truth,
26 E tornarem a despertar, e se desprenderem dos laços do diabo, em que á vontade d'elle estão presos.
and they may come to their senses again, and escape the snare of the devil, as they are restored to life by God to do his will.
