2 Timóteo 1
1 Paulo, apostolo de Jesus Christo, pela vontade de Deus, segundo a promessa da vida que está em Christo Jesus,
Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus, by the will of God, for proclaiming the promise of the Life which is in Christ Jesus:
2 A Timotheo, meu amado filho: graça, misericordia, e paz da parte de Deus Pae, e da de Christo Jesus Senhor nosso.
To Timothy my dearly-loved child. May grace, mercy and peace be granted to you from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 Dou graças a Deus, a quem desde os meus antepassados sirvo com uma consciencia pura, de que sem cessar faço memoria de ti nas minhas orações noite e dia
I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience--as my forefathers did--that night and day I unceasingly remember you in my prayers,
4 Desejando muito vêr-te, lembrando-me de tuas lagrimas, para me encher de gozo:
being always mindful of your tears, and longing to see you that I may be filled with joy.
5 Trazendo á memoria a fé não fingida que em ti ha, a qual habitou primeiro em tua avó Loide, e em tua mãe Eunice, e estou certo de que tambem habita em ti.
For I recall the sincere faith which is in your heart--a faith which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and then in your mother Eunice, and, I am fully convinced, now dwells in you also.
6 Por cujo motivo te lembro que despertes o dom de Deus que existe em ti pela imposição das minhas mãos.
For this reason let me remind you to rekindle God's gift which is yours through the laying on of my hands.
7 Porque Deus não nos deu o espirito de temor, mas de fortaleza, e de amor, e de moderação.
For the Spirit which God has given us is not a spirit of cowardice, but one of power and of love and of sound judgement.
8 Portanto não te envergonhes do testemunho de nosso Senhor, nem de mim, que sou prisioneiro seu; antes participa das afflicções do evangelho segundo o poder de Deus,
Do not be ashamed then to bear witness for our Lord and for me His prisoner; but rather share suffering with me in the service of the Good News, strengthened by the power of God.
9 O qual nos salvou, e chamou com uma sancta vocação; não segundo as nossas obras, mas segundo o seu proprio proposito e graça que nos foi dada em Christo Jesus antes dos tempos dos seculos; (aiōnios g166)
For He saved us and called us with a holy call, not in accordance with our desserts, but in accordance with His own purpose and the free grace which He bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before the commencement of the Ages, (aiōnios g166)
10 Mas agora é manifesta pela apparição de nosso Salvador Jesus Christo, o qual aboliu a morte, e trouxe á luz a vida e a incorrupção pelo evangelho;
but which has now been plainly revealed through the Appearing of our Saviour, Christ Jesus. He has put an end to death and has brought Life and Immortality to light through the Good News,
11 Para o que fui constituido prégador, e apostolo, e doutor dos gentios.
of which I have been appointed a preacher, Apostle and teacher, to the Gentiles.
12 Por cuja causa padeço tambem estas coisas, porém não me envergonho; porque eu sei em quem tenho crido, e estou certo de que é poderoso para guardar o meu deposito até áquelle dia.
That indeed is the reason why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know in whom my trust reposes, and I am confident that He has it in His power to keep what I have entrusted to Him safe until that day.
13 Conserva o exemplar das sãs palavras que de mim tens ouvido, na fé e na caridade que ha em Christo Jesus.
Provide yourself with an outline of the sound teaching which you have heard from my lips, and be true to the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
14 Guarda o bom deposito pelo Espirito Sancto que habita em nós.
That precious treasure which is in your charge, guard through the Holy Spirit who has His home in our hearts.
15 Bem sabes isto, que os que estão na Asia todos se apartaram de mim; entre os quaes foram Phygelo e Hermogenes.
Of this you are aware, that all the Christians in Roman Asia have deserted me: and among them Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16 O Senhor faça misericordia á casa de Onesiphoro, porque muitas vezes me recreou, e não se envergonhou das minhas cadeias.
May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus; for many a time he cheered me and he was not ashamed of my chain.
17 Antes, vindo elle a Roma, com muito cuidado me procurou e me achou.
Nay, when he was here in Rome, he took great pains to inquire where I was living, and at last he found me.
18 O Senhor lhe conceda que n'aquelle dia ache misericordia diante do Senhor. E, quanto me ajudou em Epheso, melhor o sabes tu.
(The Lord grant that he may obtain mercy at His hands on that day!) And you yourself well know all the services which he rendered me in Ephesus.
