2 Pedro 1
1 Simão Pedro, servo e apostolo de Jesus Christo, aos que comnosco alcançaram fé egualmente preciosa pela justiça do nosso Deus e Salvador Jesus Christo:
Simeon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who did obtain a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Graça e paz vos seja multiplicada, pelo conhecimento de Deus, e de Jesus nosso Senhor;
Grace to you, and peace be multiplied in the acknowledgement of God and of Jesus our Lord!
3 Como o seu divino poder nos deu tudo o que diz respeito á vida e piedade, pelo conhecimento d'aquelle que nos chamou por sua gloria e virtude;
As all things to us His divine power (the things pertaining unto life and piety) hath given, through the acknowledgement of him who did call us through glory and worthiness,
4 Pelas quaes elle nos tem dado grandissimas e preciosas promessas, para que por ellas fiqueis participantes da natureza divina, havendo escapado da corrupção, que pela concupiscencia ha no mundo.
through which to us the most great and precious promises have been given, that through these ye may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped from the corruption in the world in desires.
5 E vós tambem, pondo n'isto mesmo toda a diligencia, accrescentae á vossa fé a virtude, e á virtude a sciencia,
And this same also — all diligence having brought in besides, superadd in your faith the worthiness, and in the worthiness the knowledge,
6 E á sciencia temperança, e á temperança paciencia, e á paciencia piedade,
and in the knowledge the temperance, and in the temperance the endurance, and in the endurance the piety,
7 E á piedade amor fraternal; e ao amor fraternal caridade.
and in the piety the brotherly kindness, and in the brotherly kindness the love;
8 Porque, se em vós houver, e abundarem estas coisas, não vos deixarão ociosos nem estereis no conhecimento de nosso Senhor Jesus Christo.
for these things being to you and abounding, do make [you] neither inert nor unfruitful in regard to the acknowledging of our Lord Jesus Christ,
9 Pois aquelle em quem não ha estas coisas é cego, nada vendo ao longe, havendo-se esquecido da purificação dos seus antigos peccados.
for he with whom these things are not present is blind, dim-sighted, having become forgetful of the cleansing of his old sins;
10 Portanto, irmãos, procurae fazer cada vez mais firme a vossa vocação e eleição; porque, fazendo isto, nunca jámais tropeçareis.
wherefore, the rather, brethren, be diligent to make stedfast your calling and choice, for these things doing, ye may never stumble,
11 Porque assim vos será abundantemente dada a entrada no reino eterno de nosso Senhor e Salvador Jesus Christo. (aiōnios g166)
for so, richly shall be superadded to you the entrance into the age-during reign of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
12 Pelo que não deixarei de exhortar-vos sempre ácerca d'estas coisas, ainda que bem as saibaes, e estejaes confirmados na presente verdade.
Wherefore, I will not be careless always to remind you concerning these things, though, having known them, and having been established in the present truth,
13 E tenho por justo, emquanto estiver n'este tabernaculo, despertar-vos com admoestações.
and I think right, so long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up in reminding [you],
14 Sabendo que brevemente hei de deixar este meu tabernaculo, como tambem nosso Senhor Jesus Christo já m'o tem revelado.
having known that soon is the laying aside of my tabernacle, even as also our Lord Jesus Christ did shew to me,
15 Mas tambem eu procurarei em toda a occasião que depois da minha morte tenhaes lembrança d'estas coisas.
and I will be diligent that also at every time ye have, after my outgoing, power to make to yourselves the remembrance of these things.
16 Porque não vos fizemos saber a virtude e a vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Christo, seguindo fabulas artificialmente compostas: mas nós mesmos vimos a sua magestade.
For, skilfully devised fables not having followed out, we did make known to you the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but eye-witnesses having become of his majesty —
17 Porque recebeu de Deus Pae honra e gloria, quando da magnifica gloria lhe foi enviada uma tal voz: Este é o meu Filho amado, em quem me tenho comprazido.
for having received from God the Father honour and glory, such a voice being borne to him by the excellent glory: 'This is My Son — the beloved, in whom I was well pleased;'
18 E ouvimos esta voz enviada do céu, estando nós com elle no monte sancto;
and this voice we — we did hear, out of heaven borne, being with him in the holy mount.
19 E temos, mui firme, a palavra dos prophetas, á qual bem fazeis em estar attentos, como a uma luz que allumia em logar escuro, até que o dia esclareça, e a estrella da alva saia em vossos corações.
And we have more firm the prophetic word, to which we do well giving heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, till day may dawn, and a morning star may arise — in your hearts;
20 Sabendo primeiramente isto, que nenhuma prophecia da Escriptura é de particular interpretação.
this first knowing, that no prophecy of the Writing doth come of private exposition,
21 Porque a prophecia não foi antigamente produzida por vontade de homem algum, mas os homens sanctos de Deus fallaram inspirados pelo Espirito Sancto.
for not by will of man did ever prophecy come, but by the Holy Spirit borne on holy men of God spake.
