1 Timóteo 6
1 Todos os servos que estão debaixo do jugo estimem a seus senhores por dignos de toda a honra, para que o nome de Deus e a doutrina não sejam blasphemados.
Let as many seruaunts as are vnder the yoke, count their masters worthie of all honour, that the Name of God, and his doctrine be not euill spoken of.
2 E os que teem senhores fieis não os desprezem, por serem irmãos; antes os sirvam melhor, porquanto são fieis e amados, como tambem participantes d'este beneficio. Isto ensina e exhorta.
And they which haue beleeuing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren, but rather doe seruice, because they are faithfull, and beloued, and partakers of the benefite. These things teach and exhort.
3 Se alguem ensina alguma outra doutrina, e se não conforma com as sãs palavras de nosso Senhor Jesus Christo, e com a doutrina que é conforme a piedade,
If any man teach otherwise, and consenteth not to the wholesome wordes of our Lord Iesus Christ, and to the doctrine, which is according to godlinesse,
4 É soberbo, e nada sabe, mas delira ácerca de questões e contendas de palavras, das quaes nascem invejas, porfias, blasphemias, ruins suspeitas,
He is puft vp and knoweth nothing, but doteth about questions and strife of words, whereof commeth enuie, strife, railings, euill surmisings,
5 Perversas contendas de homens corruptos de entendimento, e privados da verdade, cuidando que a piedade seja ganho; aparta-te dos taes.
Frowarde disputations of men of corrupt mindes and destitute of ye trueth, which thinke that gaine is godlines: from such separate thy selfe.
6 Grande ganho é, porém, a piedade com contentamento.
But godlinesse is great gaine, if a man be content with that he hath.
7 Porque nada trouxemos para este mundo, e manifesto é que nada podemos levar d'elle.
For we brought nothing into the world, and it is certaine, that we can carie nothing out.
8 Tendo, porém, sustento, e com que nos cobrirmos, estejamos com isso contentes.
Therefore when wee haue foode and raiment, let vs therewith be content.
9 Mas os que querem ser ricos caem em tentação e em laço, e em muitas concupiscencias loucas e nocivas, que submergem os homens na perdição e ruina,
For they that will be rich, fall into tentation and snares, and into many foolish and noysome lustes, which drowne men in perdition and destruction.
10 Porque o amor do dinheiro é a raiz de todos os males; o que apetecendo alguns, se desviaram da fé, e se traspassaram a si mesmos com muitas dôres.
For the desire of money is the roote of all euill, which while some lusted after, they erred from the faith, and pearced themselues through with many sorowes.
11 Mas tu, ó homem de Deus, foge d'estas coisas, e segue a justiça, a piedade, a fé, a caridade, a paciencia, a mansidão.
But thou, O man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousnesse, godlines, faith, loue, patience, and meekenes.
12 Milita a boa milicia da fé, lança mão da vida eterna, para a qual tambem foste chamado, tendo já feito boa confissão diante de muitas testemunhas. (aiōnios g166)
Fight the good fight of faith: lay holde of eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. (aiōnios g166)
13 Mando-te diante de Deus, que todas as coisas vivifica, e de Christo Jesus, que diante de Poncio Pilatos testificou boa confissão,
I charge thee in the sight of God, who quickeneth all thinges, and before Iesus Christ, which vnder Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession,
14 Que guardes este mandamento sem macula e reprehensão, até á apparição de nosso Senhor Jesus Christo;
That thou keepe this commandement without spot, and vnrebukeable, vntill the appearing of our Lord Iesus Christ,
15 O qual a seu tempo mostrará o bemaventurado, e só poderoso Senhor, Rei dos reis e Senhor dos senhores;
Which in due time hee shall shewe, that is blessed and Prince onely, the King of Kings and Lord of Lordes,
16 Aquelle que é só o que tem a immortalidade, e habita na luz inaccessivel; a quem nenhum dos homens viu nem pode vêr: ao qual seja honra e poder sempiterno. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
Who onely hath immortalitie, and dwelleth in the light that none can attaine vnto, whom neuer man sawe, neither can see, vnto whome bee honour and power euerlasting, Amen. (aiōnios g166)
17 Manda aos ricos d'este mundo que não sejam altivos, nem ponham a esperança na incerteza das riquezas, mas em Deus vivo, que abundantemente nos dá todas as coisas para d'ellas gozarmos: (aiōn g165)
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded, and that they trust not in vncertaine riches, but in the liuing God, (which giueth vs aboundantly, all things to enioy) (aiōn g165)
18 Que façam bem, enriqueçam em boas obras, repartam de boamente, e sejam communicaveis;
That they doe good, and be riche in good woorkes, and readie to distribute, and comunicate,
19 Que enthesourem para si mesmo um bom fundamento para o futuro, para que possam alcançar a vida eterna. (questioned)
Laying vp in store for themselues a good foundation against the time to come, that they may obteine eternall life.
20 Ó Timotheo, guarda o deposito que te foi confiado, tendo horror aos clamores vãos e profanos e ás opposições da falsamente chamada sciencia;
O Timotheus, keepe that which is committed vnto thee, and auoide prophane and vaine babblings, and oppositios of science falsely so called,
21 A qual professando alguns, se desviaram da fé. A graça seja comtigo. Amen.
Which while some professe, they haue erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee, Amen. ‘The first Epistle to Timotheus, written from Laodicea, which is the chiefest citie of Phrygia Pacaciana.’
