1 Tessalonicenses 1

1 Paulo, e Silvano, e Timotheo, á egreja dos thessalonicenses em Deus, o Pae, e no Senhor Jesus Christo; Graça e paz tenhaes de Deus nosso Pae e do Senhor Jesus Christo.

Paul, Silas, and Timothy: To the Church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. May grace and peace be granted to you.

2 Sempre damos graças a Deus por vós todos, fazendo menção de vós em nossas orações,

We continually give thanks to God because of you all, while we make mention of you in our prayers.

3 Lembrando-nos sem cessar da obra da vossa fé, e do trabalho de caridade, da paciencia da esperança em Nosso Senhor Jesus Christo, deante de nosso Deus e Pae:

For we never fail to remember your works of faith and labours of love and your persistent and unwavering hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father;

4 Sabendo, amados irmãos, que a vossa eleição é de Deus;

knowing as we do, brethren, that you are beloved by God and that He has chosen you.

5 Porque o nosso evangelho não foi a vós sómente em palavras, mas tambem em poder, e no Espirito Sancto, e em muita certeza; como bem sabeis quaes fomos entre vós, por amor de vós

The Good News that we brought you did not come to you in words only, but also with power and with the Holy Spirit and with much certainty, for you know the sort of men we became among you, as examples for your sakes.

6 E vós fostes feitos nossos imitadores, e do Senhor, recebendo a palavra em muita tribulação, com gozo do Espirito Sancto.

And you followed the pattern set you by us and by the Master, after you had received the Message amid severe persecution, and yet with the joy which the Holy Spirit gives,

7 De maneira que fostes exemplo para todos os fieis na Macedonia e Achaia.

so that you became a pattern to all the believers throughout Macedonia and Greece.

8 Porque por vós soou a palavra do Senhor, não sómente na Macedonia e Achaia, mas tambem a vossa fé para com Deus se espalhou por todos os logares, de tal maneira que já d'ella não temos necessidade de fallar coisa alguma;

For it was not only from you that the Master's Message sounded forth throughout Macedonia and Greece; but everywhere your faith in God has become known, so that it is unnecessary for us to say anything about it.

9 Porque elles mesmos annunciam de nós qual a entrada que tivemos para comvosco, e como dos idolos vos convertestes a Deus, para servir o Deus vivo e verdadeiro.

For when others speak of us they report the reception we had from you, and how you turned from your idols to God, to be bondservants of the true and ever-living God,

10 E para esperar dos céus a seu Filho, a quem resuscitou dos mortos, a saber, Jesus, que nos livra da ira futura.

and to await the return from Heaven of His Son, whom He raised from among the dead--even Jesus, our Deliverer from God's coming anger.
