1 Samuel 6
1 Havendo pois estado a arca do Senhor na terra dos philisteos sete mezes,
And the Ark of YHWH is in the field of the Philistines [for] seven months,
2 Os philisteos chamaram os sacerdotes e os adivinhadores, dizendo: Que faremos nós da arca do Senhor? fazei-nos saber com que a tornaremos a enviar ao seu logar.
and the Philistines call for priests and for diviners, saying, “What do we do to the Ark of YHWH? Let us know with what we send it to its place.”
3 Os quaes disseram; Se enviardes a arca do Deus de Israel, não a envieis vazia, porém sem falta lhe enviareis uma offerta para a expiação da culpa: então sereis curados, e se vos fará saber porque a sua mão se não tira de vós.
And they say, “If you are sending the Ark of the God of Israel away, you do not send it away empty; for you certainly send back a guilt-offering to Him; then you are healed, and it has been known to you why His hand does not turn aside from you.”
4 Então disseram: Qual é a expiação da culpa que lhe havemos de render? E disseram: Segundo o numero dos principes dos philisteos, cinco hemorrhoidas de oiro e cinco ratos de oiro: porquanto a praga é uma mesma sobre todos vós e sobre todos os vossos principes.
And they say, “What [is] the guilt-offering which we send back to Him?” And they say, “The number of the princes of the Philistines—five golden lumps, and five golden muroids—for one plague [is] to you all, and to your princes,
5 Fazei pois umas imagens das vossas hemorrhoidas e as imagens dos vossos ratos, que andam destruindo a terra, e dae gloria ao Deus de Israel: porventura alliviará a sua mão de cima de vós, e de cima do vosso deus, e de cima da vossa terra.
and you have made images of your lumps, and images of your muroids that are corrupting the land, and have given glory to the God of Israel; it may be [that] He lightens His hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land;
6 Porque pois endurecereis o vosso coração, como os egypcios e Pharaó endureceram o seu coração? porventura depois de os haver tratado tão mal, os não deixaram ir, e elles não se foram?
and why do you harden your heart as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their heart? Do they not—when He has rolled Himself on them—send them away, and they go?
7 Agora, pois, tomae e fazei-vos um carro novo, e tomae duas vaccas que criem, sobre as quaes não tenha subido o jugo, e atae as vaccas ao carro, e levae os seus bezerros d'após d'ellas a casa.
And now, take and make one new cart, and two suckling cows, on which a yoke has not gone up, and you have bound the cows in the cart, and caused their young ones to turn back from after them to the house,
8 Então tomae a arca do Senhor, e ponde-a sobre o carro, e mettei n'um cofre, ao seu lado, as figuras de oiro que lhe haveis de render em expiação da culpa, e assim a enviareis, para que se vá
and you have taken the Ark of YHWH, and put it on the cart, and the vessels of gold which you have returned to Him—a guilt-offering—you put in a coffer on its side, and have sent it away, and it has gone;
9 Vêde então: se subir pelo caminho do seu termo a Beth-semes, foi elle que nos fez este grande mal; e, se não, saberemos que não nos tocou a sua mão, e que isto nos succedeu por acaso.
and you have seen if it goes up the way of its own border, to Beth-Shemesh—He has done this great evil to us; and if not, then we have known that His hand has not come against us; it has been an accident to us.”
10 E assim fizeram aquelles homens, e tomaram duas vaccas que criavam, e as ataram ao carro: e os seus bezerros encerraram em casa.
And the men do so, and take two suckling cows, and bind them in the cart, and they shut up their young ones in the house;
11 E pozeram a arca do Senhor sobre o carro, como tambem o cofre com os ratos de oiro e com as imagens das suas hemorrhoidas.
and they place the Ark of YHWH on the cart, and the coffer, and the golden muroids, and the images of their lumps.
12 Então as vaccas se encaminharam direitamente pelo caminho de Beth-semes, e seguiam um mesmo caminho, andando e berrando, sem se desviarem nem para a direita nem para a esquerda: e os principes dos philisteos foram atraz d'ellas, até ao termo de Beth-semes.
And the cows go straight in the way, on the way to Beth-Shemesh, they have gone in one highway, going and lowing, and have not turned aside right or left; and the princes of the Philistines are going after them to the border of Beth-Shemesh.
13 E andavam os de Beth-semes segando a sega do trigo no valle, e, levantando os seus olhos, viram a arca, e, vendo-a, se alegraram.
And the Beth-Shemeshites are reaping their wheat-harvest in the valley, and they lift up their eyes, and see the Ark, and rejoice to see [it].
14 E o carro veiu ao campo de Josué, o beth-semita, e parou ali; e ali estava uma grande pedra: e fenderam a madeira do carro, e offereceram as vaccas ao Senhor em holocausto.
And the cart has come into the field of Joshua the Beth-Shemeshite, and stands there, and there [is] a great stone, and they cleave the wood of the cart, and they have caused the cows to ascend [as] a burnt-offering to YHWH.
15 E os levitas descenderam a arca do Senhor, como tambem o cofre que estava junto a ella, em que estavam as obras de oiro, e pozeram-n'os sobre aquella grande pedra: e os homens de Beth-semes offereceram holocaustos, e sacrificaram sacrificios ao Senhor no mesmo dia.
And the Levites have taken down the Ark of YHWH, and the coffer which [is] with it, in which [are] the vessels of gold, and place [them] on the great stone; and the men of Beth-Shemesh have caused burnt-offerings to ascend and sacrifice sacrifices in that day to YHWH;
16 E, vendo aquillo os cinco principes dos philisteos, voltaram para Ekron no mesmo dia.
and the five princes of the Philistines have seen [it], and return [to] Ekron, on that day.
17 Estas pois são as hemorrhoidas de oiro que enviaram os philisteos ao Senhor em expiação da culpa: por Asdod uma, por Gaza outra, por Askelon outra, por Gath outra, por Ekron outra.
And these [are] the golden lumps which the Philistines have sent back—a guilt-offering to YHWH: one for Ashdod, one for Gaza, one for Ashkelon, one for Gath, one for Ekron;
18 Como tambem os ratos de oiro, segundo o numero de todas as cidades dos philisteos, pertencentes aos cinco principes, desde as cidades fortes até ás aldeias, e até Abel, a grande pedra sobre a qual pozeram a arca do Senhor, que ainda está até ao dia de hoje no campo de Josué, o beth-semita.
and the golden muroids—the number of all the cities of the Philistines, for the five princes, from the fortified city even to a village of the open place, and to the great stone [[or great meadow]] on which they placed the Ark of YHWH—[are] in the field of Joshua the Beth-Shemeshite to this day.
19 E feriu o Senhor os homens de Beth-semes, porquanto olharam para dentro da arca do Senhor, até ferir do povo cincoenta mil e setenta homens: então o povo se entristeceu, porquanto o Senhor fizera tão grande estrago entre o povo.
And He strikes among the men of Beth-Shemesh, for they looked into the Ark of YHWH, indeed, He strikes seventy men [out] of fifty thousand men [[or fifty thousand and seventy men]] among the people; and the people mourn, because YHWH struck among the people [with] a great striking.
20 Então disseram os homens de Beth-semes: Quem poderia estar em pé perante o Senhor, este Deus sancto? e a quem subirá desde nós?
And the men of Beth-Shemesh say, “Who is able to stand before YHWH, this holy God? And to whom does He go up from us?”
21 Enviaram pois mensageiros aos habitantes de Kiriath-jearim, dizendo: Os philisteos remetteram a arca do Senhor; descei, pois, e fazei-a subir para vós.
And they send messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath-Jearim, saying, “The Philistines have sent back the Ark of YHWH; come down, take it up with you.”
