1 Samuel 20
1 Então fugiu David de Naioth, em Rama: e veiu, e disse perante Jonathan: Que fiz eu? qual é o meu crime? e qual é o meu peccado diante de teu pae, que procura tirar-me a vida?
And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is mine iniquity? and what is my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?
2 E elle lhe disse: Tal não haja: não morrerás; eis que meu pae não faz coisa nenhuma grande, nem pequena, sem primeiro me dar parte; porque pois meu pae me encobriria este negocio? não ha tal.
And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will shew it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.
3 Então David tornou a jurar, e disse: Mui bem sabe teu pae que achei graça em teus olhos; pelo que disse: Não saiba isto Jonathan, para que se não magõe, e, na verdade, vive o Senhor, e vive a tua alma, que apenas ha um passo entre mim e a morte.
And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as Yhwh liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.
4 E disse Jonathan a David: O que disser a tua alma, eu te farei.
Then said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do it for thee.
5 Disse David a Jonathan: Eis que ámanhã é a lua nova, em que costumo assentar-me com o rei para comer: deixa-me tu ir, porém, e esconder-me-hei no campo, até á terceira tarde
And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.
6 Se teu pae notar a minha ausencia, dirás: David me pediu muito que o deixasse ir correndo a Beth-lehem, sua cidade; porquanto se faz lá o sacrificio annual para toda a linhagem.
If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Beth–lehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
7 Se disser assim, Está bem; então teu servo tem paz: porém se muito se indignar, sabe que já está inteiramente determinado no mal.
If he say thus, It is well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth, then be sure that evil is determined by him.
8 Usa pois de misericordia com o teu servo, porque fizeste a teu servo entrar comtigo em alliança do Senhor: se porém ha em mim crime, mata-me tu mesmo: porque me levarias a teu pae?
Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of Yhwh with thee: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?
9 Então disse Jonathan: Longe de ti tal coisa: porém se d'alguma maneira soubesse que já este mal está inteiramente determinado por meu pae, para que viesse sobre ti, não t'o descobriria eu?
And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?
10 E disse David a Jonathan: Quem tal me fará saber, se por acaso teu pae te responder asperamente?
Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what if thy father answer thee roughly?
11 Então disse Jonathan a David: Vem e saiamos ao campo. E sairam ambos ao campo.
And Jonathan said unto David, Come, and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.
12 E disse Jonathan a David: Ó Senhor Deus de Israel, se, sondando eu a meu pae ámanhã a estas horas, ou depois d'ámanhã, e eis que houver coisa favoravel para David: e eu então não enviar a ti, e não t'o fizer saber;
And Jonathan said unto David, O Yhwh God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and shew it thee;
13 O Senhor faça assim com Jonathan outro tanto; que se aprouver a meu pae fazer-te mal, tambem t'o farei saber, e te deixarei partir, e irás em paz: e o Senhor seja comtigo, assim como foi com meu pae.
Yhwh do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will shew it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: And Yhwh be with thee, as he hath been with my father.
14 E, se eu então ainda viver, porventura não usarás comigo da beneficencia do Senhor, para que não morra?
And thou shalt not only while yet I live shew me the kindness of Yhwh, that I die not:
15 Nem tão pouco cortarás da minha casa a tua beneficencia eternamente: nem ainda quando o Senhor desarraigar da terra a cada um dos inimigos de David.
But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when Yhwh hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
16 Assim fez Jonathan alliança com a casa de David, dizendo: O Senhor o requeira da mão dos inimigos de David.
So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let Yhwh even require it at the hand of David’s enemies.
17 E Jonathan fez jurar a David de novo, porquanto o amava; porque o amava com todo o amor da sua alma.
And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
18 E disse-lhe Jonathan: Ámanhã é a lua nova, e não te acharão no teu logar, pois o teu assento se achará vazio
Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.
19 E, ausentando-te tu tres dias, desce apressadamente, e vae áquelle logar onde te escondeste no dia do negocio: e fica-te junto á pedra de Ezel.
And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.
20 E eu atirarei tres frechas para aquella banda, como se atirara ao alvo.
And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I shot at a mark.
21 E eis que mandarei o moço dizendo: Anda, busca as frechas: se eu expressamente disser ao moço: Olha que as frechas estão para cá de ti; toma-o comtigo, e vem; porque ha paz para ti, e não ha nada, vive o Senhor.
And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee, take them; then come thou: for there is peace to thee, and no hurt; as Yhwh liveth.
22 Porém se disser ao moço assim: Olha que as frechas estão para lá de ti; vae-te embora; porque o Senhor te deixa ir.
But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way: for Yhwh hath sent thee away.
23 E quanto ao negocio de que eu e tu fallámos, eis que o Senhor está entre mim e ti eternamente.
And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, Yhwh be between thee and me for ever.
24 Escondeu-se pois David no campo: e, sendo a lua nova, assentou-se o rei para comer pão.
So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.
25 E, assentando-se o rei no seu assento, como as outras vezes, no logar junto á parede, Jonathan se levantou, e assentou-se Abner ao lado de Saul: e o logar de David appareceu vasio.
And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall: and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul’s side, and David’s place was empty.
26 Porém n'aquelle dia não disse Saul nada, porque dizia: Aconteceu-lhe alguma coisa, pela qual não está limpo; certamente não está limpo
Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought, Something hath befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean.
27 Succedeu tambem ao outro dia, o segundo da lua nova, que o logar de David appareceu vasio: disse pois Saul a Jonathan, seu filho: Porque não veiu o filho de Jessé nem hontem nem hoje a comer pão?
And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?
28 E respondeu Jonathan a Saul: David me pediu encarecidamente que o deixasse ir a Beth-lehem,
And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Beth–lehem:
29 Dizendo: Peço-te que me deixes ir, porquanto a nossa linhagem tem um sacrificio na cidade, e meu irmão mesmo me mandou ir: se pois agora tenho achado graça em teus olhos, peço-te que me deixes partir, para que veja a meus irmãos: por isso não veiu á mesa do rei
And he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me to be there: and now, if I have found favour in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he cometh not unto the king’s table.
30 Então se accendeu a ira de Saul contra Jonathan, e disse-lhe: Filho da perversa em rebeldia; não sei eu que tens elegido o filho de Jessé, para vergonha tua e para vergonha da nudez de tua mãe?
Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother’s nakedness?
31 Porque todos os dias que o filho de Jessé viver sobre a terra nem tu serás firme, nem o teu reino: pelo que envia, e traze-m'o n'esta hora; porque é digno de morte.
For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.
32 Então respondeu Jonathan a Saul, seu pae, e lhe disse: Porque ha de elle morrer? que tem feito?
And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?
33 Então Saul atirou-lhe com a lança, para o ferir: assim entendeu Jonathan que já seu pae tinha determinado matar a David.
And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.
34 Pelo que Jonathan, todo encolerisado, se levantou da mesa: e no segundo dia da lua nova não comeu pão; porque se magoava por causa de David, porque seu pae o tinha maltratado.
So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.
35 E aconteceu, pela manhã, que Jonathan saiu ao campo, ao tempo que tinha ajustado com David, e um moço pequeno com elle.
And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.
36 Então disse ao seu moço: Corre a buscar as frechas que eu atirar. Correu pois o moço, e elle atirou uma frecha, que fez passar além d'elle.
And he said unto his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.
37 E, chegando o moço ao logar da frecha que Jonathan tinha atirado, gritou Jonathan atraz do moço, e disse: Não está porventura a frecha mais para lá de ti?
And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond thee?
38 E tornou Jonathan a gritar atraz do moço: Apressa-te, avia-te, não te demores. E o moço de Jonathan apanhou as frechas, e veiu a seu senhor.
And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan’s lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
39 E o moço não entendeu coisa alguma: só Jonathan e David sabiam d'este negocio.
But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
40 Então Jonathan deu as suas armas ao moço que trazia, e disse-lhe: Anda, e leva-as á cidade.
And Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city.
41 E, indo-se o moço, levantou-se David da banda do sul, e lançou-se sobre o seu rosto em terra, e inclinou-se tres vezes: e beijaram-se um ao outro, e choraram juntos até que David chorou muito mais.
And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.
42 E disse Jonathan a David: Vae-te em paz: o que nós temos jurado ambos em nome do Senhor, dizendo: O Senhor seja entre mim e ti, e entre a minha semente e a tua semente, seja perpetuamente. Então se levantou David, e se foi; e Jonathan entrou na cidade.
And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of Yhwh, saying, Yhwh be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.
