1 Samuel 15
1 Então disse Samuel a Saul: Enviou-me o Senhor a ungir-te rei sobre o seu povo, sobre Israel: ouve pois agora a voz das palavras do Senhor.
And Samuel says to Saul, “YHWH sent me to anoint you for king over His people, over Israel; and now, listen to the voice of the words of YHWH.
2 Assim diz o Senhor dos exercitos: Eu me recordei do que fez Amalek a Israel; como se lhe oppoz no caminho, quando subia do Egypto.
Thus said YHWH of Hosts: I have looked after that which Amalek did to Israel, that which he laid for him in the way in his going up out of Egypt.
3 Vae pois agora e fere a Amalek; e destroe totalmente a tudo o que tiver, e não lhe perdoes; porém matarás desde o homem até á mulher, desde os meninos até aos de mama, desde os bois até ás ovelhas, e desde os camelos até aos jumentos
Now go, and you have struck Amalek, and devoted all that he has, and you have no pity on him, and have put to death from man to woman, from infant to suckling, from ox to sheep, from camel to donkey.”
4 O que Saul annunciou ao povo, e os contou em Teilaim, duzentos mil homens de pé, e dez mil homens de Judah.
And Saul summons the people, and inspects them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand [are] men of Judah.
5 Chegando pois Saul á cidade d'Amalek, poz emboscada no valle.
And Saul comes to a city of Amalek, and lays wait in a valley;
6 E disse Saul aos keneos: Ide-vos, retirae-vos e sahi do meio dos amalekitas, para que vos não destrua juntamente com elles, porque vós usastes de misericordia com todos os filhos de Israel, quando subiram do Egypto. Assim os keneos se retiraram do meio dos amalekitas.
and Saul says to the Kenite, “Go, turn aside, go down from the midst of Amalek, lest I consume you with it, and you did kindness with all the sons of Israel, in their going up out of Egypt”; and the Kenite turns aside from the midst of Amalek.
7 Então feriu Saul aos amalekitas desde Havia até chegar a Sur, que está defronte do Egypto.
And Saul strikes Amalek from Havilah [to] your going to Shur, which [is] on the front of Egypt,
8 E tomou vivo a Agag, rei dos amalekitas; porém a todo o povo destruiu ao fio da espada.
and he catches Agag king of Amalek alive, and he has devoted all the people by the mouth of the sword;
9 E Saul e o povo perdoaram a Agag, e ao melhor das ovelhas e das vaccas, e ás da segunda sorte, e aos cordeiros e ao melhor que havia, e não os quizeram destruir totalmente: porém a toda a coisa vil e desprezivel detruiram totalmente.
and Saul has pity—also the people—on Agag, and on the best of the flock, and of the herd, and of the seconds, and on the lambs, and on all that [is] good, and have not been willing to devote them; and all the work, despised and wasted—it they devoted.
10 Então veiu a palavra do Senhor a Samuel, dizendo:
And the word of YHWH is to Samuel, saying,
11 Arrependo-me de haver posto a Saul como rei; porquanto se tornou de detraz de mim, e não executou as minhas palavras. Então Samuel se contristou, e toda a noite clamou ao Senhor.
“I have regretted that I caused Saul to reign for king, for he has turned back from after Me, and he has not performed My words”; and it is displeasing to Samuel, and he cries to YHWH all the night.
12 E madrugou Samuel para encontrar a Saul pela manhã: e annunciou-se a Samuel, dizendo: Já chegou Saul ao Carmelo, e eis que levantou para si uma columna. Então fez volta, e passou e desceu e Gilgal.
And Samuel rises early to meet Saul in the morning, and it is declared to Samuel, saying, “Saul has come to Carmel, and behold, he is setting up a monument to himself, and goes around, and passes over, and goes down to Gilgal.”
13 Veiu pois Samuel a Saul; e Saul lhe disse: Bemdito tu do Senhor; executei a palavra do Senhor.
And Samuel comes to Saul, and Saul says to him, “Blessed [are] you of YHWH; I have performed the word of YHWH.”
14 Então disse Samuel: Que balido pois de ovelhas é este nos meus ouvidos, e o mugido de vaccas que oiço?
And Samuel says, “And what [is] the noise of this flock in my ears—and the noise of the herd which I am hearing?”
15 E disse Saul: De Amalek as trouxeram; porque o povo perdoou ao melhor das ovelhas e das vaccas, para as offerecer ao Senhor teu Deus: o resto porém temos destruido totalmente.
And Saul says, “They have brought them from Amalek, because the people had pity on the best of the flock, and of the herd, in order to sacrifice to your God YHWH, and we have devoted the remnant.”
16 Então disse Samuel a Saul: Espera, e te declararei o que o Senhor me disse esta noite. E elle disse-lhe: Falla.
And Samuel says to Saul, “Desist, and I declare to you that which YHWH has spoken to me tonight”; and he says to him, “Speak.”
17 E disse Samuel: Porventura, sendo tu pequeno aos teus olhos, não foste por Cabeça das tribus de Israel? e o Senhor te ungiu rei sobre Israel.
And Samuel says, “Are you not, if you [are] little in your own eyes, head of the tribes of Israel? And YHWH anoints you for king over Israel,
18 E enviou-te o Senhor a este caminho, e disse: Vae, e destroe totalmente a estes peccadores, os amalekitas, e peleja contra elles, até que os aniquiles.
and YHWH sends you in the way, and says, Go, and you have devoted the sinners, the Amalekite, and fought against them until they are consumed;
19 Porque pois não déste ouvidos á voz do Senhor, antes voaste ao despojo, e fizeste o que parecia mal aos olhos do Senhor?
and why have you not listened to the voice of YHWH—and fly to the spoil, and do evil in the eyes of YHWH?”
20 Então disse Saul a Samuel: Antes dei ouvidos á voz do Senhor, e caminhei no caminho pelo qual o Senhor me enviou; e trouxe a Agag, rei de Amalek, e os amalekitas destrui totalmente;
And Saul says to Samuel, “Because—I have listened to the voice of YHWH, and I go in the way which YHWH has sent me, and bring in Agag king of Amalek, and I have devoted Amalek;
21 Mas o povo tomou do despojo ovelhas e vaccas, o melhor do interdicto, para offerecer ao Senhor teu Deus em Gilgal.
and the people take of the spoil of the flock and herd, the first part of the devoted thing, for sacrifice to your God YHWH in Gilgal.”
22 Porém Samuel disse: Tem porventura o Senhor tanto prazer em holocaustos e sacrificios, como em que se obedeça á palavra do Senhor? eis que o obedecer é melhor do que o sacrificar, e o attender melhor é do que a gordura de carneiros.
And Samuel says, “Has YHWH had delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices as [in] listening to the voice of YHWH? Behold, listening is better than sacrifice; to give attention than fat of rams;
23 Porque a rebellião é como o peccado de feitiçaria, e o porfiar é como iniquidade e idolatria. Porquanto tu rejeitaste a palavra do Senhor, elle tambem te rejeitou a ti, para que não sejas rei.
for rebellion [is as] a sin of divination, and stubbornness [is as] iniquity and teraphim; because you have rejected the word of YHWH, He also rejects you from [being] king.”
24 Então disse Saul a Samuel: Pequei, porquanto tenho traspassado o dito do Senhor e as tuas palavras: por- que temi ao povo, e dei ouvidos á sua voz.
And Saul says to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I passed over the command of YHWH, and your words; because I have feared the people, I also listen to their voice;
25 Agora pois, te rogo, perdoa-me o meu peccado: e torna-te comigo, para que adore ao Senhor.
and now, please bear with my sin, and return with me, and I bow myself to YHWH.”
26 Porém Samuel disse a Saul: Não tornarei comtigo: porquanto rejeitaste a palavra do Senhor, já te rejeitou o Senhor, para que não sejas rei sobre Israel.
And Samuel says to Saul, “I do not return with you; for you have rejected the word of YHWH, and YHWH rejects you from being king over Israel.”
27 E virando-se Samuel para se ir, elle lhe pegou pela borda da capa, e a rasgou.
And Samuel turns around to go, and he lays hold on the skirt of his upper robe—and it is torn!
28 Então Samuel lhe disse: O Senhor tem rasgado de ti hoje o reino de Israel, e o tem dado ao teu proximo, melhor do que tu.
And Samuel says to him, “YHWH has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and given it to your neighbor who is better than you;
29 E tambem aquelle que é a Força de Israel não mente nem se arrepende; porquanto não é um homem para que se arrependa.
and also, the Preeminence of Israel does not lie nor relent, for He [is] not a man that He should relent.”
30 Disse elle então: Pequei; honra-me porém agora diante dos anciãos do meu povo, e diante de Israel: e torna-te comigo, para que adore ao Senhor teu Deus.
And he says, “I have sinned; now please honor me before [the] elderly of my people and before Israel, and return with me; and I have bowed myself to your God YHWH.”
31 Então Samuel se tornou atraz de Saul: e Saul adorou ao Senhor.
And Samuel turns back after Saul, and Saul bows himself to YHWH;
32 Então disse Samuel: Trazei-me aqui a Agag, rei dos amalekitas. E Agag veiu a elle melindrosamente: e disse Agag: Na verdade já passou a amargura da morte.
and Samuel says, “Bring Agag king of Amalek to me,” and Agag comes to him daintily, and Agag says, “Surely the bitterness of death has turned aside.”
33 Disse porém Samuel: Assim como a tua espada desfilhou as mulheres, assim ficará desfilhada a tua mãe entre as mulheres. Então Samuel despedaçou a Agag perante o Senhor em Gilgal.
And Samuel says, “As your sword bereaved women—so is your mother bereaved above women”; and Samuel hews Agag in pieces before YHWH in Gilgal.
34 Então Samuel se foi a Rama: e Saul subiu a sua casa, a Gibeah de Saul.
And Samuel goes to Ramath, and Saul has gone to his house—to Gibeah of Saul.
35 E nunca mais viu Samuel a Saul até ao dia da sua morte; porque Samuel teve dó de Saul. E o Senhor se arrependeu de que pozera a Saul rei sobre Israel.
And Samuel has not added to see Saul until the day of his death, for Samuel mourned for Saul, and YHWH regretted that He had caused Saul to reign over Israel.
