1 Reis 8

1 Então congregou Salomão os anciãos de Israel, e todos os Cabeças das tribus, os principes dos paes, d'entre os filhos de Israel, ao rei Salomão em Jerusalem; para fazerem subir a arca do concerto do Senhor da cidade de David, que é Sião.

Then, did Solomon call together the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, chiefs of the fathers of the sons of Israel, unto King Solomon in Jerusalem, —that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, out of the city of David, the same is Zion.

2 E todos os homens de Israel se congregaram na festa, ao rei Salomão, no mez de Ethanim, que é o setimo mez.

So all the men of Israel came together unto King Solomon, in the month of steady flowings, at the festival, —the same is the seventh month.

3 E vieram todos os anciãos de Israel: e os sacerdotes alçaram a arca.

And all the elders of Israel came in, —and the priests took up the ark;

4 E trouxeram a arca do Senhor para cima, e o tabernaculo da congregação, juntamente com todos os vasos sagrados que havia no tabernaculo; assim os trouxeram para cima os sacerdotes e os levitas.

and they brought up the ark of Yahweh, and the Tent of Meeting, and all the hallowed vessels that were in the tent, —yea, the priests and the Levites, did bring them up.

5 E o rei Salomão, e toda a congregação de Israel, que se congregara a elle, estava com elle diante da arca, sacrificando ovelhas e vaccas, que se não podiam contar nem numerar pela multidão.

And, King Solomon, and all the assembly of Israel who had assembled themselves unto him, were with him, before the ark, —sacrificing sheep and oxen, which could neither be recorded nor counted, for multitude.

6 Assim trouxaram os sacerdotes a arca do concerto do Senhor ao seu logar, ao oraculo da casa, ao logar sanctissimo, até debaixo das azas dos cherubins.

So the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Yahweh into its place, into the shrine of the house, into the holy of holies, —under the wings of the cherubim.

7 Porque os cherubins estendiam ambas as azas sobre o logar da arca: e cobriam os cherubins a arca e os seus varaes por cima.

For, the cherubim, were spreading forth their two wings, over the place of the ark, —and the cherubim made a covering over the ark and over the staves thereof, above.

8 E os varaes sobresairam tanto, que as pontas dos varaes se viam desde o sanctuario diante do oraculo, porém de fóra se não viam: e ficaram ali até ao dia d'hoje.

And they drew out the staves, and the heads of the staves were seen from the holy place, in front of the shrine, although they were not seen on the outside, —and they have remained there until this day.

9 Na arca nada havia, senão só as duas taboas de pedra, que Moysés ali pozera junto a Horeb, quando o Senhor contratou com os filhos de Israel, saindo elles da terra do Egypto.

There was nothing in the ark, save the two tables of stone, which Moses deposited there in Horeb, —the tables of the covenant which Yahweh solemnised with the sons of Israel, when they came forth out of the land of Egypt.

10 E succedeu que, saindo os sacerdotes do sanctuario, uma nuvem encheu a casa do Senhor.

And so it was, when the priests came forth out of the holy place, that, a cloud, filled the house of Yahweh;

11 E não podiam ter-se em pé os sacerdotes para ministrar, por causa da nuvem, porque a gloria do Senhor enchera a casa do Senhor.

so that the priests could not stand to minister, because of the cloud, —for, the glory of Yahweh, filled, the house of Yahweh.

12 Então disse Salomão: O Senhor disse que habitaria nas trevas.

Then, said Solomon, —Yahweh, said, that he would make his habitation in thick gloom:

13 Certamente te edifiquei uma casa para morada, assento para a tua eterna habitação.

I have, built, a house as a high abode for thee, —A settled place for thee to abide in, for ages.

14 Então virou o rei o seu rosto, e abençoou toda a congregação de Israel: e toda a congregação de Israel estava em pé

And the king turned about his face, and blessed all the convocation of Israel, —while all the convocation of Israel was standing;

15 E disse: Bemdito seja o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, que fallou pela sua bocca a David meu pae, e pela sua mão o cumpriu, dizendo:

and he said—Blessed, be Yahweh, God of Israel, who spake with his mouth, unto David my father, —that which with his hand he hath fulfilled, saying: —

16 Desde o dia em que eu tirei o meu povo Israel do Egypto, não escolhi cidade alguma de todas as tribus de Israel, para edificar alguma casa para ali estabelecer o meu nome: porém escolhi a David, para que presidisse sobre o meu povo Israel.

Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel, out of Egypt, I had chosen no city, out of all the tribes of Israel, for building a house, where my Name might be, —but I have chosen Jerusalem, that my Name should be there, and I have chosen David, to be over my people Israel:

17 Tambem David, meu pae, propozera em seu coração o edificar casa ao nome do Senhor, o Deus de Israel.

And so it came to pass, that it was near the heart of David my father, —to build a house for the Name of Yahweh, God of Israel.

18 Porém o Senhor disse a David, meu pae: Porquanto propozeste no teu coração o edificar casa ao meu nome bem fizeste em o propôr no teu coração.

Then said Yahweh unto David my father, Because it was near thy heart to build a house for my Name, thou didst well that it was near thy heart;

19 Todavia tu não edificarás esta casa: porém teu filho, que sair de teus lombos, edificará esta casa ao meu nome.

Only, thou thyself, must not build the house, —but, thine own son who hath proceeded out of thy loins, he, shall build the house, for my Name.

20 Assim confirmou o Senhor a sua palavra que tinha dito: porque me levantei em logar de David, meu pae, e me assentei no throno de Israel, como tem dito o Senhor; e edifiquei uma casa ao nome do Senhor, o Deus d'Israel.

So then Yahweh hath established his word which he spake, —and I have been raised up in the room of David my father, and have taken my seat upon the throne of Israel, as spake Yahweh, and have built the house for the Name of Yahweh, God of Israel;

21 E constitui ali logar para a arca em que está o concerto do Senhor, o qual fez com nossos paes, quando os tirou da terra do Egypto.

and have appointed there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of Yahweh, —which he solemnised with our fathers, when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt.

22 E poz-se Salomão diante do altar do Senhor, em frente de toda a congregação d'Israel: e estendeu as suas mãos para os céus,

And Solomon stood before the altar of Yahweh, in the presence of all the convocation of Israel, —and spread forth his hands towards the heavens;

23 E disse: Ó Senhor Deus de Israel, não ha Deus como tu, em cima nos céus nem em baixo na terra: que guardas o concerto e a beneficencia a teus servos que andam com todo o seu coração diante de ti.

and said—O Yahweh, God of Israel! Not like thee, is there a God, in the heavens above, or upon the earth beneath, —keeping Covenant and Lovingkindness for thy servants who are walking before thee, with all their heart;

24 Que guardaste a teu servo David, meu pae, o que lhe disseras: porque com a tua bocca o disseste, e com a tua mão o cumpriste, como n'este dia se vê.

who hast kept for thy servant David my father, that which thou didst promise him, —in that thou didst promise with thy mouth, and, with thy hand, hast fulfilled, as it is this day.

25 Agora pois, ó Senhor Deus d'Israel, guarda a teu servo David, meu pae, o que lhe fallaste, dizendo: Não te faltará successor diante de mim, que se assente no throno d'Israel: sómente que teus filhos guardem o seu caminho, para andarem diante de mim como tu andaste diante de mim

Now, therefore, O Yahweh, God of Israel, keep thou for thy servant David my father, that which thou didst promise him, saying, There shall not be cut off to thee a man from before me, to sit upon the throne of Israel, —if only, thy sons take heed to their way, by walking before me, as thou hast walked before me.

26 Agora tambem, ó Deus d'Israel, cumpra-se a tua palavra que disseste a teu servo David, meu pae.

Now, therefore, O God of Israel, —verified be thy word, I pray thee, which thou didst speak to thy servant, David my father.

27 Mas, na verdade, habitaria Deus na terra? eis que os céus, e até o céu dos céus, te não comprehenderiam, quanto menos esta casa que eu tenho edificado.

But, in very deed, will God dwell, upon the earth? Lo! the heaven, yea the heaven of heavens, cannot contain thee, how much less this house which I have built?

28 Volve-te pois para a oração de teu servo, e para a sua supplica, ó Senhor meu Deus, para ouvires o clamor e a oração que o teu servo hoje faz diante de ti.

Yet wilt thou turn unto the prayer of thy servant, and unto his supplication, O Yahweh my God, —to hearken unto the cry, and unto the prayer, wherewith thy servant doth pray before thee to-day;

29 Para que os teus olhos noite e dia estejam abertos sobre esta casa, sobre este logar, do qual disseste: O meu nome estará ali; para ouvires a oração que o teu servo fizer n'este logar.

that thine eye may be opened toward this house, night and day, toward the place of which thou hast said, My Name shall be, there; hearkening unto the prayer which thy servant shall offer toward this place.

30 Ouve pois a supplica do teu servo, e do teu povo Israel, que orarem n'este logar; tambem ouve tu no logar da tua habitação nos céus; ouve tambem, e perdôa.

Wilt, thou, therefore, hearken unto the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, whensoever they shall pray toward this place, —yea wilt, thou thyself, hear, in thine own dwelling-place, in the heavens, and, when thou hearest, then wilt thou forgive?

31 Quando alguem peccar contra o seu proximo, e pozerem sobre elle juramento de maldição, para o ajuramentarem a si mesmo, e vier juramento de maldição diante do teu altar n'esta casa,

When a man shall sin against his neighbour, and there shall be taken up against him an oath, to put him on oath, —and he shall come in and swear before thine altar, in this house,

32 Ouve tu então nos céus, e obra, e julga a teus servos, condemnando ao injusto, fazendo recair o seu proceder sobre a sua cabeça, e justificando ao justo, rendendo-lhe segundo a sua justiça.

then wilt, thou thyself, hear in the heavens, and act, and judge thy servants, condemning the lawless, by setting his way upon his own head, —and justifying the righteous, by giving to him, according to his righteousness?

33 Quando o teu povo Israel fôr ferido diante do inimigo, por ter peccado contra ti, e se converterem a ti, e confessarem o teu nome, e orarem e supplicarem a ti n'esta casa,

When thy people Israel are smitten before an enemy, because they have been sinning against thee, —and they turn again unto thee, and confess thy Name, and pray and make supplication unto thee, in this house,

34 Ouve tu então nos céus, e perdôa o peccado do teu povo Israel, e torna-o a levar á terra que tens dado a seus paes.

then wilt, thou thyself, hear in the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them back unto the soil, which thou gavest unto their fathers?

35 Quando os céus se cerrarem, e não houver chuva, por terem peccado contra ti, e orarem n'este logar, e confessarem o teu nome, e se converterem dos seus peccados, havendo-os tu affligido.

When the heavens are shut up, and there is no rain, because they have been sinning against thee, —and they shall pray toward this place, and confess thy Name, and, from their sin, shall return, because thou hast been afflicting them,

36 Ouve tu então nos céus, e perdôa o peccado de teus servos e do teu povo Israel, ensinando-lhe o bom caminho em que andem, e dá chuva na tua terra que déste ao teu povo em herança.

then wilt, thou thyself, hear in the heavens and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou mayest teach them the good way, wherein they should walk, —and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people, for an inheritance?

37 Quando houver fome na terra, quando houver peste, quando houver queima de searas, ferrugem, gafanhotos e pulgão, quando o seu inimigo o cercar na terra das suas portas, ou houver alguma praga ou doença.

When there shall be, famine, in the land, when there shall be, pestilence, when there shall be, blasting, mildew locust, caterpillar, when their enemy shall besiege them in one of their own gates, —whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness;

38 Toda a oração, toda a supplica, que qualquer homem de todo o teu povo Israel fizer, conhecendo cada um a chaga do seu coração, e estendendo as suas mãos para esta casa

any prayer, any supplication which, any son of earth, may have, of all thy people Israel, —who will certainly know every man the plague of his own heart, and so he shall spread abroad his hands towards this house,

39 Ouve tu então nos céus, assento da tua habitação, e perdôa, e obra, e dá a cada um conforme a todos os seus caminhos, e segundo vires o seu coração, porque só tu conheces o coração de todos os filhos dos homens

then wilt, thou thyself, hear in the heavens, in the settled place of thine abode, and forgive and act, and give unto every man according to all his ways, whose heart thou wilt know, —for, thou thyself alone, knowest the heart of all the sons of men;

40 Para que te temam todos os dias que viverem na terra que déste a nossos paes.

to the end they may revere thee, all the days which they do live, upon the face of the soil, —which thou gavest unto our fathers?

41 E tambem ouve ao estrangeiro, que não fôr do teu povo Israel, porém vier de terras remotas, por amor do teu nome

Moreover also, unto the stranger, who is, not of thy people Israel, —but hath come in out of a far country, for the sake of thy Name, —

42 (Porque ouvirão do teu grande nome, e da tua forte mão, e do teu braço estendido), e vier orar para esta casa,

(for they will certainly hear of thy great Name, and of thy strong hand, and of thy stretched-out arm, —and so will come in and pray towards this house),

43 Ouve tu nos céus, assento da tua habitação, e faze conforme a tudo o que o estrangeiro a ti clamar, a fim de que todos os povos da terra conheçam o teu nome, para te temerem como o teu povo Israel, e para saberem que o teu nome é invocado sobre esta casa que tenho edificado.

wilt, thou thyself, hear in the heavens, the settled place of thine abode, and act, according to all for which, the stranger, shall cry unto thee, —to the end that all the peoples of the earth may truly know thy Name, so as to revere thee, like thy people Israel, and to know that, thine own Name, hath been given unto this house, which I have built?

44 Quando o teu povo sair á guerra contra o seu inimigo, pelo caminho por que os enviares, e orarem ao Senhor, para a banda d'esta cidade, que tu elegeste, e d'esta casa, que edifiquei ao teu nome,

When thy people go forth to war against their enemy, whithersoever thou mayest send them, —and shall pray unto Yahweh, in the direction of the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy Name,

45 Ouve então nos céus a sua oração e a sua supplica, e faze-lhes justiça.

then wilt thou hear, in the heavens, their prayer and their supplication, —and maintain their cause?

46 Quando peccarem contra ti (pois não ha homem que não peque), e tu te indignares contra elles, e os entregares ás mãos do inimigo, para que os que os captivarem os levem em captiveiro á terra do inimigo, quer longe ou perto esteja,

When they sin against thee—for there is, no son of earth, that sinneth not, and thou shalt be angry with them, and deliver them up before an enemy, —who shall carry them away as their captives, into the land of the enemy, far or near;

47 E na terra aonde forem levados em captiveiro tornarem em si, e se converterem, e na terra do seu captiveiro te supplicarem, dizendo: Peccámos, e perversamente obrámos, e commettemos iniquidade;

and they come back to their right mind, in the land whither they have been taken captive, —and so turn and make supplication unto thee, in the land of their captors, saying, We have sinned and done perversely, we have been lawless;

48 E se converterem a ti com todo o seu coração e com toda a sua alma, na terra de seus inimigos que os levaram em captiveiro, e orarem a ti para a banda da sua terra que déste a seus paes, para esta cidade que elegeste, e para esta casa que edifiquei ao teu nome;

and so they turn unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, who have carried them away captive, —and pray unto thee in the direction of their own land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy Name,

49 Ouve então nos céus, assento da tua habitação, a sua oração e a sua supplica, e faze-lhes justiça;

then wilt thou hearken in the heavens, the settled place of thine abode, unto their prayer, and unto their supplication, —and maintain their cause;

50 E perdôa ao teu povo que houver peccado contra ti, e todas as suas prevaricações com que houverem prevaricado contra ti; e dá-lhes misericordia perante aquelles que os teem captivos, para que d'elles tenham compaixão.

and grant forgiveness to thy people, who have sinned against thee, even as to all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, —and grant them compassion before their captors, so that they may have compassion upon them;

51 Porque são o teu povo e a tua herança que tiraste da terra do Egypto, do meio do forno de ferro.

because, thy people and thine inheritance, they are, —whom thou didst bring forth out of Egypt, out of the midst of the smelting-pot of iron;

52 Para que teus olhos estejam abertos á supplica do teu servo e á supplica do teu povo Israel, a fim de os ouvirdes em tudo quanto clamarem a ti.

that thine eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, —to hearken unto them, in all their crying unto thee;

53 Pois tu para tua herança os elegeste de todos os povos da terra, como tens dito pelo ministerio de Moysés, teu servo, quando tiraste a nossos paes do Egypto, Senhor Jehovah.

because, thou thyself, didst separate them unto thee, for an inheritance, out of all the peoples of the earth, —as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest forth our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord Yahweh.

54 Succedeu pois que, acabando Salomão de fazer ao Senhor esta oração e esta supplica, estando de joelhos e com as mãos estendidas para os céus, se levantou de diante do altar do Senhor.

And it came to pass, when Solomon had made an end of praying unto Yahweh all this prayer and supplication, that he arose from before the altar of Yahweh, from kneeling on his knees, with his hands outspread to the heavens;

55 E poz-se em pé, e abençoou a toda a congregação d'Israel em alta voz, dizendo:

and stood and blessed all the convocation of Israel, —with a loud voice, saying:

56 Bemdito seja o Senhor, que deu repouso ao seu povo Israel, segundo tudo o que disse: nem uma só palavra caiu de todas as suas boas palavras que fallou pelo ministerio de Moysés, seu servo.

Blessed, be Yahweh, who hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised, —there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.

57 O Senhor nosso Deus seja comnosco, como foi com nossos paes; não nos desampare, e não nos deixe.

Yahweh our God be with us, as he was with our fathers, —let him not leave us, nor forsake us;

58 Inclinando a si o nosso coração, para andar em todos os seus caminhos, e para guardar os seus mandamentos, e os seus estatutos, e os seus juizos que ordenou a nossos paes.

but bow our heart unto himself, —to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his regulations, which he commanded our fathers.

59 E que estas minhas palavras, com que suppliquei perante o Senhor, estejam perto, diante do Senhor nosso Deus, de dia e de noite, para que execute o juizo do seu servo e o juizo do seu povo Israel, a cada qual no seu dia,

And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before Yahweh, be near unto Yahweh our God, day and night, —that he may maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel, as any need ariseth:

60 Para que todos os povos da terra saibam que o Senhor é Deus, e que não ha outro.

To the end that all the peoples of the earth may know, that, Yahweh, is God, —there is none else.

61 E seja o vosso coração inteiro para com o Senhor nosso Deus, para andardes nos seus estatutos, e guardardes os seus mandamentos como hoje.

So shall your heart be sound with Yahweh our God, —to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

62 E o rei e todo o Israel com elle sacrificaram sacrificios perante a face do Senhor.

And, the king, and all Israel with him, were offering sacrifice before Yahweh.

63 E offereceu Salomão em sacrificio pacifico o que sacrificou ao Senhor, vinte e duas mil vaccas e cento e vinte mil ovelhas: assim o rei e todos os filhos de Israel consagraram a casa do Senhor.

So Solomon offered as a sacrifice of peace-offerings, which he offered unto Yahweh—Oxen, two and twenty thousand, and Sheep, a hundred and twenty thousand, —Thus did, the king and all the sons of Israel, dedicate the house of Yahweh.

64 No mesmo dia sanctificou o rei o meio do atrio que estava diante da casa do Senhor; porquanto ali preparara os holocaustos e as offertas com a gordura dos sacrificios pacificos: porque o altar de cobre que estava diante da face do Senhor era muito pequeno para n'elle caberem os holocaustos, e as offertas, e a gordura dos sacrificios pacificos.

On that day, did the king hallow the middle of the court, that was before the house of Yahweh, —for he offered there the ascending-sacrifice, and the meal-offering, and the fat portions of the peace-offerings, because, the altar of bronze that was before Yahweh, was too small to receive the ascending-sacrifice and the meal-offering, and the fat portions of the peace-offerings.

65 No mesmo tempo celebrou Salomão a festa, e todo o Israel com elle, uma grande congregação, desde a entrada de Hamath até ao rio do Egypto, perante a face do Senhor nosso Deus; por sete dias, e mais sete dias: quatorze dias.

And Solomon made, at that time, a festival—and all Israel with him—a great convocation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the ravine of Egypt, before Yahweh our God, seven days, and seven days, —fourteen days.

66 E no oitavo dia despediu o povo, e elles abençoaram o rei: então se foram ás suas tendas, alegres e gozosos de coração, por causa de todo o bem que o Senhor fizera a David seu servo, e a Israel seu povo

And on the eighth day, he sent the people away, and they blessed the king, —and departed to their homes, rejoicing and glad of heart, over all the goodness which Yahweh had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.
