1 Assim foi Salomão rei sobre todo o Israel.
King Solomon ruled over all of Israel.
2 E estes eram os principes que tinha: Azarias, filho de Zadok, sacerdote;
These were his officials: Azariah, son of Zadok, was the priest;
3 Elihoreph e Ahia, filhos de Sisa, secretarios; Josaphat, filho de Ahilud, chanceller;
Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha, were the king's secretaries. Jehoshaphat, son of Ahilud, kept the royal records.
4 Benaia, filho de Joiada, sobre o exercito; e Zadok e Abiathar eram sacerdotes;
Benaiah son of Jehoiada was the army commander. Zadok and Abiathar were priests.
5 E Azarias, filho de Nathan, sobre os provedores; e Zabud, filho de Nathan, official-mór, amigo do rei;
Azariah, son of Nathan, was in charge of the governors. Zabud, son of Nathan, was a priest and the king's counselor.
6 E Ahisar, mordomo; Adoniram, filho d'Abda, sobre o tributo.
Ahishar was the palace manager. Adoniram, son of Abda, was in charge of those forced to work for the king.
7 E tinha Salomão doze provedores sobre todo o Israel, que proviam ao rei e á sua casa: e cada um tinha a prover um mez no anno.
Solomon had twelve area governors whose responsibilities covered the whole of Israel, providing food for the king and his household. Each one in turn arranged supplies for one month of the year.
8 E estes são os seus nomes: Ben-hur, nas montanhas de Ephraim;
Their names were: Ben-hur, in the hill country of Ephraim;
9 Ben-deker em Makas, e em Saalbim, e em Beth-semes, e em Elon, e em Bethanan:
Ben-deker in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth-shemesh and Elon-beth-hanan;
10 Ben-hesed em Arubboth; tambem este tinha a Sochó e a toda a terra de Hepher;
Ben-hesed in Arubboth (Socoh and all the land of Hepher was his);
11 Ben-abinadab em todo o termo de Dor: tinha este a Taphath, filha de Salomão, por mulher;
Ben-abinadab, in the whole of Naphath-dor (Taphath, the daughter of Solomon, was his wife);
12 Baana, filho d'Ahilud, tinha a Tanach, e a Megiddo, e a toda a Beth-sean, que está junto a Zartana, abaixo de Jezreel, desde Beth-sean até Abel-meola, até d'além de Jokneam;
Baana, son of Ahilud, in Taanach and Megiddo, the whole of Beth-shan near Zarethan below Jezreel, and from Beth-shan to Abel-meholah and across to Jokmeam;
13 O filho de Geber em Ramoth-gilead; tinha este as aldeias de Jair, filho de Manassés, as quaes estão em Gilead; tambem tinha o termo de Argob, o qual está em Basan, sessenta grandes cidades com muros e ferrolhos de cobre;
Ben-geber, in Ramoth-gilead (the towns of Jair, son of Manasseh, in Gilead belonged to him, as well as the region of Argob in Bashan, with sixty great cities having walls and bronze bars);
14 Ahinadab, filho d'Iddo, em Mahanaim;
Ahinadab, son of Iddo, in Mahanaim;
15 Ahimaas em Nafthali; tambem este tomou a Basmath, filha de Salomão, por mulher;
Ahimaaz, in Naphtali (he had married Basemath the daughter of Solomon);
16 Baana, filho de Husai, em Aser e em Aloth;
Baana, son of Hushai, in Asher and in Aloth;
17 Josaphat, filho de Paruah, em Issacar;
Jehoshaphat, son of Paruah, in Issachar;
18 Simei, filho de Ela, em Benjamin;
Shimei, son of Ela, in Benjamin;
19 Geber, filho de Uri, na terra de Gilead, a terra de Sihon, rei dos amorrheos, e de Og, rei de Basan; e só uma guarnição havia n'aquella terra.
Geber son of Uri in the land of Gilead, (the former country of Sihon, king of the Amorites, and of Og, king of Bashan. There was also a governor who was over the land of Judah).
20 Eram pois os de Judah e Israel muitos, como a areia que está ao pé do mar em multidão, comendo, e bebendo, e alegrando-se.
Judah and Israel had become as numerous as the sand on the seashore. They ate, they drank, they were happy.
21 E dominava Salomão sobre todos os reinos desde o rio até á terra dos philisteos, e até ao termo do Egypto; os quaes traziam presentes, e serviram a Salomão todos os dias da sua vida
Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, right up to the border of Egypt. They presented tribute to Solomon and served him during his lifetime.
22 Era pois o provimento de Salomão, cada dia, trinta coros de flor de farinha, e sessenta coros de farinha:
The food required every day for Solomon's court was thirty cors of the best flour and sixty cors of meal;
23 Dez vaccas gordas, e vinte vaccas de pasto, e cem carneiros; afóra os veados e as cabras montezes, e os corços, e aves cevadas.
ten fattened cattle, twenty range cattle, one hundred sheep, as well as deer, gazelles, roe deer, and fattened poultry.
24 Porque dominava sobre tudo quanto havia da banda de cá do rio de Tiphsah até Gaza, sobre todos os reis da banda de cá do rio: e tinha paz de todas a bandas em roda d'elle.
For Solomon ruled over the whole region west of the Euphrates, from Tiphsah to Gaza—over all the kingdoms west of the Euphrates. And he had peace on all sides around him. He had peace on every border.
25 E Judah e Israel habitavam seguros, cada um debaixo da sua videira, e debaixo da sua figueira, desde Dan até Berseba, todos os dias de Salomão.
During Solomon's lifetime, everyone in Judah and Israel lived in safety, from Dan to Beersheba. Each one had their own vine and fig tree.
26 Tinha tambem Salomão quarenta mil estrebarias de cavallos para os seus carros, e doze mil cavalleiros.
Solomon had 40,000 stalls for his chariot horses, and 12,000 charioteers.
27 Proviam pois estes provedores, cada um no seu mez, ao rei Salomão e a todos quantos se chegavam á mesa do rei Salomão: coisa nenhuma deixavam faltar.
Every month the area governors provided in turn food for King Solomon and all who ate at his table. They made sure that nothing was missing.
28 E traziam a cevada e a palha para os cavallos e para os ginetes, para o logar onde estava, cada um segundo o seu cargo.
They also delivered barley and straw where they were needed for the chariot horses and cart-horses.
29 E deu Deus a Salomão sabedoria, e muitissimo entendimento, e largueza de coração, como a areia que está na praia do mar
God gave to Solomon wisdom, very great discernment, and understanding as extensive as the sand on the seashore.
30 E era a sabedoria de Salomão maior do que a sabedoria de todos os do oriente e do que toda a sabedoria dos egypcios.
Solomon's wisdom was greater than that of all the Eastern wise men, greater than all of Egypt's wisdom.
31 E era elle ainda mais sabio do que todos os homens, e do que Ethan, ezrahita, e Heman, e Calcal, e Darda, filho de Mahol: e correu o seu nome por todas as nações em redor.
He was wiser than anyone, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, wiser than Heman, Calcol, and Darda, sons of Mahol. His reputation spread through the nations around.
32 E disse tres mil proverbios, e foram os seus canticos mil e cinco.
Solomon composed three thousand proverbs and one thousand and five songs.
33 Tambem fallou das arvores, desde o cedro que está no Libano até ao hyssopo que nasce na parede: tambem fallou dos animaes e das aves, e dos reptis e dos peixes.
He was able to discuss knowledge of trees, from the cedar in Lebanon to the hyssop that grows in the wall. He taught about animals, birds, reptiles, and fish.
34 E vinham de todos os povos a ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão, e de todos os reis da terra que tinham ouvido da sua sabedoria.
People from all nations came to hear Solomon's wisdom. They were sent by all the kings of the earth, who had heard about his wisdom.
