1 Reis 17
1 Então Elias, o tesbita, dos moradores de Gilead, disse a Achab: Vive o Senhor, Deus de Israel, perante cuja face estou, que n'estes annos nem orvalho nem chuva haverá, senão segundo a minha palavra.
And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, says to Ahab, “YHWH, God of Israel, lives, before whom I have stood, there is not dew and rain these years, except according to my word.”
2 Depois veiu a elle a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:
And the word of YHWH is to him, saying,
3 Vae-te d'aqui, e vira-te para o oriente, e esconde-te junto ao ribeiro de Carith, que está diante do Jordão.
“Go from this [place]; and you have turned for yourself eastward, and been hidden by the Brook of Cherith that [is] on the front of the Jordan,
4 E ha de ser que beberás do ribeiro: e eu tenho ordenado aos corvos que ali te sustentem.
and it has been [that] you drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to sustain you there.”
5 Foi pois, e fez conforme á palavra do Senhor: porque foi, e habitou junto ao ribeiro de Carith, que está diante do Jordão.
And he goes and does according to the word of YHWH, indeed, he goes and dwells by the Brook of Cherith, that [is] on the front of the Jordan,
6 E os corvos lhe traziam pão e carne pela manhã; como tambem pão e carne á noite: e bebia do ribeiro.
and the ravens are bringing bread and flesh to him in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening, and he drinks from the brook.
7 E succedeu que, passados dias, o ribeiro se seccou; porque não tinha havido chuva na terra.
And it comes to pass, at the end of [the] days, that the brook dries up, for there has been no rain in the land,
8 Então veiu a elle a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:
and the word of YHWH is to him, saying,
9 Levanta-te, e vae-te a Sarepta, que é de Zidon, e habita ali: eis que eu ordenei ali a uma mulher viuva que te sustente.
“Rise, go to Zarephath, that [belongs] to Sidon, and you have dwelt there; behold, I have commanded a widow woman to sustain you there.”
10 Então elle se levantou, e se foi a Sarepta; e, chegando á porta da cidade, eis que estava ali uma mulher viuva apanhando lenha; e elle a chamou, e lhe disse: Traze-me, peço-te, n'um vaso um pouco d'agua que beba,
And he rises, and goes to Zarephath, and comes to the opening of the city, and behold, there [is] a widow woman gathering sticks, and he calls to her and says, “Please bring a little water to me in a vessel, and I drink.”
11 E, indo ella a trazel-a, elle a chamou e lhe disse: Traze-me agora tambem um bocado de pão na tua mão.
And she goes to bring [it], and he calls to her and says, “Please bring a morsel of bread to me in your hand.”
12 Porém ella disse: Vive o Senhor teu Deus, que nem um bolo tenho, senão sómente um punhado de farinha n'uma panella, e um pouco d'azeite n'uma botija: e vês aqui apanhei dois cavacos, e vou preparal-o para mim e para o meu filho, para que o comamos, e morramos.
And she says, “Your God YHWH lives, I do not have a cake, but the fullness of the hand of meal in a pitcher, and a little oil in a dish; and behold, I am gathering two sticks, and have gone in and prepared it for myself, and for my son, and we have eaten it—and died.”
13 E Elias lhe disse: Não temas; vae, faze conforme á tua palavra: porém faze d'elle primeiro para mim um bolo pequeno, e traze-m'o para fóra; depois farás para ti e para teu filho.
And Elijah says to her, “Do not fear, go, do according to your word, only make a little cake for me there, in the first place, and you have brought [it] out to me; and for you and for your son make [it] last;
14 Porque assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: A farinha da panella não se acabará, e o azeite da botija não faltará, até ao dia em que o Senhor dê chuva sobre a terra
for thus said YHWH, God of Israel: The pitcher of meal is not consumed, and the dish of oil is not lacking, until the day of YHWH’s giving a shower on the face of the ground.”
15 E foi ella, e fez conforme á palavra de Elias: e assim comeu ella, e elle, e a sua casa muitos dias.
And she goes, and does according to the word of Elijah, and she eats, she and he and her household [for many] days;
16 Da panella a farinha se não acabou, e da botija o azeite não faltou: conforme á palavra do Senhor, que fallara pelo ministerio de Elias.
the pitcher of meal was not consumed, and the dish of oil did not lack, according to the word of YHWH that He spoke by the hand of Elijah.
17 E depois d'estas coisas succedeu que adoeceu o filho d'esta mulher, da dona da casa: e a sua doença se aggravou muito, até que n'elle nenhum folego ficou.
And it comes to pass, after these things, the son of the woman, mistress of the house, has been sick, and his sickness is very severe until no breath has been left in him.
18 Então ella disse a Elias: Que tenho eu comtigo, homem de Deus? vieste tu a mim cara trazeres á memoria a minha iniquidade, e matares a meu filho?
And she says to Elijah, “What [is this] to me and to you, O man of God? You have come to me to cause my iniquity to be remembered, and to put my son to death!”
19 E elle lhe disse: Dá-me o teu filho. E elle o tomou do seu regaço, e o levou para cima, ao quarto, onde elle mesmo habitava, e o deitou em sua cama,
And he says to her, “Give your son to me”; and he takes him out of her bosom, and takes him up to the upper chamber where he is abiding, and lays him on his own bed,
20 E clamou ao Senhor, e disse: Ó Senhor meu Deus, tambem até a esta viuva, com quem eu moro, affligiste, matando-lhe seu filho?
and cries to YHWH and says, “My God YHWH, have You also brought calamity on the widow with whom I am sojourning, to put her son to death?”
21 Então se mediu sobre o menino tres vezes, e clamou ao Senhor, e disse: Ó Senhor meu Deus, rogo-te que torne a alma d'este menino a entrar n'elle.
And he stretches himself out on the boy three times, and calls to YHWH and says, “O YHWH my God, please let the soul of this boy return into his midst”;
22 E o Senhor ouviu a voz de Elias; e a alma do menino tornou a entrar n'elle, e reviveu.
and YHWH listens to the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the boy turns back into his midst, and he lives.
23 E Elias tomou o menino, e o trouxe do quarto á casa, e o deu a sua mãe; e disse Elias: Vês ahi teu filho vive.
And Elijah takes the boy, and brings him down from the upper chamber of the house, and gives him to his mother, and Elijah says, “See, your son lives!”
24 Então a mulher disse a Elias: N'isto conheço agora que tu és homem de Deus, e que a palavra do Senhor na tua bocca é verdade.
And the woman says to Elijah, “Now [by] this I have known that you [are] a man of God, and the word of YHWH in your mouth [is] truth.”
