Psalmów 40
1 Przewodnikowi chóru. Psalm Dawida. Z tęsknotą czekałem na PANA, a skłonił się ku mnie i wysłuchał mojego wołania.
To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm. I waited patiently for Jehovah; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 Wyciągnął mnie ze strasznego dołu [i] z błota grząskiego [i] postawił moje stopy na skale, i umocnił moje kroki.
And he brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock; he hath established my goings:
3 I włożył w moje usta nową pieśń, chwałę [dla] naszego Boga. Wielu to zobaczy i ulęknie się, i zaufa PANU.
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, praise unto our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall confide in Jehovah.
4 Błogosławiony człowiek, który pokłada w PANU swoją nadzieję, a nie ma względu na pysznych ani na tych, którzy podążają za kłamstwem.
Blessed is the man that hath made Jehovah his confidence, and turneth not to the proud, and to such as turn aside to lies.
5 Wiele uczyniłeś cudów, PANIE, mój Boże, a twoich zamysłów wobec nas nikt nie potrafi wyliczyć przed tobą; gdybym chciał je opowiedzieć i ogłosić, jest ich więcej, niż zdołałbym wypowiedzieć.
Thou, O Jehovah my God, hast multiplied thy marvellous works, and thy thoughts toward us: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee; would I declare and speak [them], they are more than can be numbered.
6 Ofiary i daru nie chciałeś, lecz otworzyłeś mi uszy; nie żądałeś całopalenia i ofiary za grzech.
Sacrifice and oblation thou didst not desire: ears hast thou prepared me. Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not demanded;
7 Wtedy powiedziałem: Oto przychodzę, na początku księgi jest napisane o mnie;
Then said I, Behold, I come, in the volume of the book it is written of me —
8 Pragnę czynić twoją wolę, mój Boże, a twoje prawo jest w moim wnętrzu.
To do thy good pleasure, my God, is my delight, and thy law is within my heart.
9 Głosiłem [twoją] sprawiedliwość w wielkim zgromadzeniu; oto nie powściągałem moich ust; ty wiesz [o tym], PANIE.
I have published righteousness in the great congregation: behold, I have not withheld my lips, Jehovah, thou knowest.
10 Twojej sprawiedliwości nie kryłem w głębi serca, opowiadałem twoją wierność i zbawienie; nie taiłem twego miłosierdzia i prawdy w wielkim zgromadzeniu.
I have not hidden thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy loving-kindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
11 Dlatego ty, PANIE, nie odmawiaj mi twej litości; twoje miłosierdzie i prawda niech mnie zawsze strzegą.
Withhold not thou, Jehovah, thy tender mercies from me; let thy loving-kindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
12 Otoczyły mnie bowiem nieszczęścia, których nie sposób zliczyć; dosięgły mnie moje nieprawości, tak że nie mogę [ich] przejrzeć; więcej ich niż włosów na mej głowie, więc serce we mnie ustaje.
For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head: and my heart hath failed me.
13 PANIE, racz mnie ocalić; PANIE, pospiesz mi na pomoc.
Be pleased, O Jehovah, to deliver me; Jehovah, make haste to my help.
14 Niech się zawiodą i zawstydzą wszyscy, którzy czyhają, by zatracić moją duszę; niech się cofną i zawstydzą ci, którzy mi źle życzą.
Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be turned backward and confounded that take pleasure in mine adversity;
15 Niech będą spustoszeni wskutek swej hańby ci, którzy mi mówią: Ha, ha!
Let them be desolate, because of their shame, that say unto me, Aha! Aha!
16 Niech się radują i weselą w tobie wszyscy, którzy cię szukają; niech ci, którzy miłują twoje zbawienie, mówią zawsze: Niech PAN będzie wywyższony.
Let all those that seek thee be glad and rejoice in thee; let such as love thy salvation say continually, Jehovah be magnified!
17 Ja [wprawdzie] jestem ubogi i nędzny, lecz Pan myśli o mnie. Ty jesteś moją pomocą i wybawicielem, mój Boże, nie zwlekaj.
But I am afflicted and needy: the Lord thinketh upon me. Thou art my help and my deliverer: my God, make no delay.
