Przysłów 1
1 Przysłowia Salomona, syna Dawida, króla Izraela;
The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel,
2 Do poznania mądrości i karności, do zrozumienia słów roztropnych;
to know wisdom and instruction, to discern the words of understanding,
3 Do zdobycia pouczenia w mądrości, w sprawiedliwości, w sądzie i w prawości;
to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness and justice and equity,
4 Do udzielenia prostym rozwagi, a młodemu – wiedzy i roztropności.
to give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion,
5 Mądry posłucha i przybędzie mu wiedzy, a rozumny nabędzie rad;
that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning, and that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsels,
6 Aby rozumieć przysłowia i [ich] wykładnię, słowa mądrych i ich zagadki.
to understand a proverb, and a figure, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 Bojaźń PANA jest początkiem wiedzy, ale głupcy gardzą mądrością i karnością.
The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge. The foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
8 Synu mój, słuchaj pouczenia swego ojca i nie odrzucaj nauki swojej matki;
My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother.
9 Bo one będą wdzięczną ozdobą na twojej głowie i [kosztownym] łańcuchem na szyi.
For they shall be a garland of grace to thy head, and chains about thy neck.
10 Synu mój, jeśli grzesznicy cię namawiają, nie pozwalaj.
My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
11 Jeśli mówią: Chodź z nami, czyhajmy na krew, zaczajmy się na niewinnego bez powodu;
If they say, Come with us. Let us lay wait for blood. Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause.
Let us swallow them up alive as Sheol, and whole, as those who go down into the pit. (Sheol h7585)
13 Znajdziemy wszelkie kosztowności, napełnimy swoje domy łupem;
We shall find all precious substance. We shall fill our houses with spoil.
14 Dziel z nami swój los; miejmy wszyscy jedną sakiewkę.
Thou shall cast thy lot among us. We will all have one bag.
15 Synu mój, nie wyruszaj z nimi w drogę; powstrzymaj swoją nogę od ich ścieżki.
My son, walk not thou in the way with them. Restrain thy foot from their path.
16 Ich nogi bowiem biegną do zła i spieszą się do przelania krwi.
For their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood.
17 Na próżno zastawia się sieci na oczach wszelkiego ptactwa.
For in vain is the net spread in the sight of any bird,
18 Oni też czyhają na własną krew, czają się na własne życie.
and these lay wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.
19 Takie są ścieżki każdego, który jest chciwy zysku; swojemu właścicielowi [taki zysk] odbiera życie.
So are the ways of everyone who is greedy of gain. It takes away the life of the owners of it.
20 Mądrość woła na dworze, podnosi swój głos na ulicach.
Wisdom cries aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the broad places.
21 Woła w największym zgiełku, u wrót bram, w mieście wygłasza swoje słowa:
She cries in the chief place of concourse, at the entrance of the gates, in the city. She utters her words:
22 Jak długo, prości, będziecie kochać głupotę, szydercy – lubować się w swoim szyderstwie, a głupi – nienawidzić wiedzy?
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? And scoffers delight them in scoffing, and fools hate knowledge?
23 Nawróćcie się na moje upomnienie; oto wyleję na was mojego ducha, oznajmię wam moje słowa.
Turn back at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit upon you. I will make my words known to you.
24 Ponieważ wołałam, a odmawialiście; wyciągałam rękę, a nikt nie zważał;
Because I have called, and ye have refused, I have stretched out my hand, and no man has regarded,
25 Owszem, odrzuciliście całą moją radę i nie chcieliście [przyjąć] mojego upomnienia;
but ye have made all my counsel void, and want none of my reproof,
26 Dlatego będę się śmiać z waszego nieszczęścia, będę szydzić z was, gdy przyjdzie to, czego się boicie.
I also will laugh at your calamity. I will mock when your fear comes,
27 Gdy nadejdzie jak spustoszenie to, czego się boicie, i [gdy] wasze nieszczęście nadciągnie jak wicher, gdy nadejdzie na was ucisk i cierpienie;
when your fear comes as a storm, and your calamity comes on as a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.
28 Wtedy będą mnie wzywać, a nie wysłucham; będą mnie szukać pilnie, lecz mnie nie znajdą.
Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me,
29 Bo znienawidzili wiedzę i nie wybrali bojaźni PANA;
because they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of Jehovah.
30 Ani nie chcieli mojej rady, [ale] gardzili każdym moim upomnieniem.
They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.
31 Dlatego spożyją owoc swoich dróg i będą nasyceni swymi radami.
Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32 Bo odstępstwo prostych zabije ich i szczęście głupich zgubi ich.
For the backsliding of the simple shall kill them, and the careless ease of fools shall destroy them.
33 [Ale] kto mnie słucha, będzie mieszkać bezpiecznie i będzie wolny od strachu przed złem.
But he who hearkens to me shall dwell securely, and shall be quiet without fear of evil.
