Przysłów 3
1 Synu mój, nie zapominaj mego prawa, a niech twoje serce strzeże moich przykazań;
My son, forget not my law, and let thy heart keep my commandments.
2 Bo przyniosą ci długie dni i lata życia oraz pokoju.
For they shall add to thee length of days, and years of life and peace.
3 Niech cię nie opuszczają miłosierdzie i prawda, przywiąż je do swojej szyi, wypisz je na tablicy swojego serca.
Let not mercy and truth leave thee, put them about thy neck, and write them in the tables of thy heart:
4 Wtedy znajdziesz łaskę i uznanie w oczach Boga i ludzi.
And thou shalt And grace and good understanding before God and men.
5 Ufaj PANU z całego swego serca i nie polegaj na swoim rozumie.
Have confidence in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not upon thy own prudence.
6 Zważaj na niego we wszystkich swoich drogach, a on będzie prostować twoje ścieżki.
In all thy ways think on him, and he will direct thy steps.
7 Nie bądź mądrym we własnych oczach, [ale] bój się PANA i odstąp od zła.
I Be not wise in thy own conceit: fear God, and depart from evil:
8 [To] da twemu ciału zdrowie i pokrzepienie twoim kościom.
For it shall be health to thy navel, and moistening to thy bones.
9 Czcij PANA swoim majątkiem i pierwocinami wszystkich twoich dochodów.
Honour the Lord with thy substance, and give him of the first of all thy fruits:
10 A twoje spichrze będą napełnione dostatkiem i twoje prasy będą przelewać się od nowego wina.
And thy barns shall be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall run over with wine.
11 Synu mój, nie gardź karceniem PANA i nie zniechęcaj się jego upomnieniem.
My son, reject not the correction of the Lord: and do not faint when thou art chastised by him:
12 Bo kogo PAN miłuje, tego karze, jak ojciec syna, [którego] kocha.
For whom the Lord loveth, he chastiseth: and as a father in the son he pleaseth himself.
13 Błogosławiony człowiek, który znajduje mądrość, i człowiek, który nabiera rozumu;
Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom and is rich in prudence:
14 Gdyż jego nabycie jest lepsze niż nabycie srebra, jego zdobycie [bardziej pożyteczne] niż złoto.
The purchasing thereof is better than the merchandise of silver, and her fruit than the chiefest and purest gold:
15 Jest droższa nad perły i żadna rzecz, której pragniesz, nie dorówna jej.
She is more precious than all riches: and all the things that are desired, are not to be compared with her.
16 Długie dni są w jej prawej ręce, a w lewej bogactwa i chwała.
Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory.
17 Jej drogi są drogami rozkoszy i wszystkie jej ścieżki spokojne.
Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceable.
18 Jest drzewem życia dla tych, którzy się jej chwycą; a ci, którzy się jej trzymają, są błogosławieni.
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold on her: and he that shall retain her is blessed.
19 PAN ugruntował ziemię mądrością, a niebiosa umocnił rozumem.
The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth, hath established the heavens by prudence.
20 Dzięki jego wiedzy rozstąpiły się głębiny, a obłoki spuszczają rosę.
By his wisdom the depths have broken out, and the clouds grow thick with dew.
21 Synu mój, niech [one] ci [z] oczu nie schodzą; strzeż prawdziwej mądrości i roztropności;
My son, let not these things depart from thy eyes: keep the law and counsel:
22 A będą życiem twojej duszy i ozdobą twojej szyi.
And there shall be life to thy soul, and grace to thy mouth.
23 Wtedy będziesz bezpiecznie chodził swoją drogą, a noga twoja się nie potknie.
Then shalt thou walk confidently in thy way, and thy foot shall not stumble:
24 Gdy się położysz, nie będziesz się lękał; a gdy zaśniesz, twój sen będzie przyjemny.
If thou sleep, thou shalt not fear: thou shalt rest, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
25 Nie lękaj się nagłego strachu ani spustoszenia niegodziwych, gdy przyjdzie.
Be not afraid of sudden fear, nor of the power of the wicked falling upon thee.
26 PAN bowiem będzie twoją ufnością i twojej nogi będzie strzegł od sideł.
For the Lord will be at thy side, and will keep thy foot that thou be not taken.
27 Nie wzbraniaj się dobrze czynić potrzebującemu, gdy stać cię na to, aby [dobrze] czynić.
Do not withhold him from doing good, who is able: if thou art able, do good thyself also.
28 Nie mów bliźniemu: Idź i przyjdź znowu, dam ci jutro, gdy masz to u siebie.
Say not to thy friend: Go, and come again: and tomorrow I will give to thee: when thou canst give at present.
29 Nie knuj zła przeciwko swemu bliźniemu, gdy spokojnie mieszka obok ciebie.
Practise not evil against thy friend, when he hath confidence in thee.
30 Nie spieraj się z człowiekiem bez przyczyny, jeśli ci nic złego nie wyrządził.
Strive not against a man without cause, when he hath done thee no evil.
31 Nie zazdrość ciemięzcy i nie wybieraj żadnej z jego dróg.
Envy not the unjust man, and do not follow his ways:
32 Przewrotny bowiem budzi w PANU odrazę, ale jego tajemnica [jest] z prawymi.
For every mocker is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is with the simple.
33 Przekleństwo PANA [jest] w domu niegodziwego, lecz [PAN] błogosławi mieszkanie sprawiedliwych.
Want is from the Lord in the house of the wicked: but the habitations of the just shall be blessed.
34 On szydzi z szyderców, ale daje łaskę pokornym.
He shall scorn the scorners, and to the meek he will give grace.
35 Mądrzy odziedziczą chwałę, a głupi poniosą hańbę.
The wise shall possess glory: the promotion of fools is disgrace.
