1 Człowiek, który czyni twardym [swój] kark mimo częstych nagan, zostanie nagle zniszczony i pozbawiony ratunku.
He who, being often reproved, hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
2 Gdy sprawiedliwi są u władzy, lud się weseli, a gdy panują niegodziwi, lud wzdycha.
When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man bears rule, the people sigh.
3 Kto miłuje mądrość, raduje swego ojca, a kto zadaje się z nierządnicami, trwoni majątek.
He who loves wisdom delights his father, but he who keeps company with harlots wastes his substance.
4 Król utwierdza ziemię sądem, ale kto przyjmuje dary, burzy ją.
By justice the king establishes the land, but he who exacts gifts overthrows it.
5 Człowiek, który pochlebia swemu bliźniemu, rozciąga sieć przed jego nogami.
A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his steps.
6 Grzech złego człowieka jest jego sidłem, ale sprawiedliwy śpiewa i weseli się.
In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare, but a righteous man sings and rejoices.
7 Sprawiedliwy zważa na sprawę ubogich, [a] niegodziwemu nie zależy na jej poznawaniu.
A righteous man takes knowledge of the cause of the poor. A wicked man has no such understanding to know.
8 Szydercy prowadzą miasto w sidła, ale mądrzy odwracają gniew.
Scoffers set a city in a flame, but wise men turn away wrath.
9 Jeśli mądry człowiek spiera się z głupim, czy się gniewa, czy się śmieje, nie [ma] pokoju.
If a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man, whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.
10 Krwiożercy nienawidzą prawego, ale sprawiedliwi szukają jego duszy.
Bloodthirsty men hate him who is perfect, but the upright seek his soul.
11 Głupi ujawnia cały swój umysł, a mądry zachowuje go na później.
A fool utters all his anger, but a wise man keeps it back and calms it.
12 Jeśli władca słucha kłamstw, to wszyscy jego słudzy są niegodziwi.
If a ruler hearkens to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.
13 Ubogi i zdzierca spotykają się, a PAN obu oświeca oczy.
The poor man and the oppressor meet together. Jehovah enlightens the eyes of them both.
14 Tron króla, który sądzi ubogich według prawdy, będzie umocniony na wieki.
The king who faithfully judges the poor, his throne shall be established forever.
15 Rózga i upomnienia dają mądrość, a samowolne dziecko przynosi wstyd swojej matce.
The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.
16 Gdy niegodziwi się mnożą, to mnoży się i przestępstwo, lecz sprawiedliwi ujrzą ich upadek.
When the wicked are increased, transgression increases, but the righteous shall look upon their fall.
17 Karć swego syna, a da ci odpocząć i przyniesie rozkosz twojej duszy.
Correct thy son, and he will give thee rest, yea, he will give delight to thy soul.
18 Gdy nie ma proroctwa, lud ginie, a kto przestrzega prawa, jest błogosławiony.
Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint, but he who keeps the law, happy is he.
19 Sługi nie poprawi się słowami, bo choć rozumie, jednak nie odpowiada.
A servant will not be corrected by words, for though he understands, he will not give heed.

See thou a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

He who brings up his servant gently from childhood shall have him become a son at the last.

An angry man stirs up strife, and a wrathful man abounds in transgression.
23 Pycha człowieka poniża go, ale pokorny w duchu dostąpi chwały.
A man's pride shall bring him low, but he who is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honor.
24 Wspólnik złodzieja nienawidzi swojej duszy; słyszy przekleństwa, a nie wydaje [go].
He who is partner with a thief hates his own soul; he hears the adjuration and utters nothing.
25 Strach przed człowiekiem zastawia sidła, ale kto ufa PANU, będzie bezpieczny.
The fear of man brings a snare, but he who puts his trust in Jehovah shall be safe.
26 Wielu zabiega o względy władcy, ale sąd każdego człowieka pochodzi od PANA.
Many seek the ruler's favor, but a man's justice is from Jehovah.
27 Bezbożny budzi odrazę w sprawiedliwych, a kto postępuje uczciwie, budzi odrazę w niegodziwych.
An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, and he who is upright in the way is an abomination to a wicked man.
