Przysłów 21
1 Serce króla [jest] w ręku PANA [jak] potoki wód; kieruje je, dokąd chce.
The king’s heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Wszelka droga człowieka jest słuszna w jego oczach, ale PAN waży serca.
Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3 Czynienie sprawiedliwości i sądu bardziej się podobają PANU niż ofiara.
To do justice and judgment [is] more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 Wyniosłe oczy, pyszne serce [i] praca niegodziwych są grzechem.
An high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.
5 Myśli pracowitego [przynoszą] pewny dostatek, a [myśli] każdego spieszącego się – niedostatek.
The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.
6 Gromadzenie skarbów kłamliwym językiem jest przemijającą marnością tych, którzy szukają śmierci.
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue [is] a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 Grabież niegodziwych zniszczy ich, bo nie chcą czynić tego, co sprawiedliwe.
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 Droga człowieka jest przewrotna i obca, ale dzieło czystego jest prawe.
The way of man [is] froward and strange: but [as for] the pure, his work [is] right.
9 Lepiej mieszkać w kącie dachu niż z kłótliwą żoną w przestronnym domu.
[It is] better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 Dusza niegodziwego pragnie zła, a jego bliźni nie znajduje łaski w jego oczach.
The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 Gdy się karze szydercę, prosty mądrzeje, a gdy uczą mądrego, przyjmuje wiedzę.
When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 Sprawiedliwy zważa na dom niegodziwego, ale [Bóg] powala niegodziwych za [ich] nieprawość.
The righteous [man] wisely considereth the house of the wicked: [but God] overthroweth the wicked for [their] wickedness.
13 Kto zatyka swe ucho na wołanie ubogiego, ten sam będzie wołał, a nie zostanie wysłuchany.
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 [Potajemny] dar łagodzi zapalczywość i upominek w zanadrzu uspokaja wielki gniew.
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15 Radością jest dla sprawiedliwego czynić sąd, a na czyniących nieprawość przyjdzie zniszczenie.
[It is] joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
16 Człowiek, który zbacza z drogi mądrości, odpocznie w zgromadzeniu umarłych.
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 Kto kocha zabawę, zubożeje, a kto kocha wino i olejek, nie wzbogaci się.
He that loveth pleasure [shall be] a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 Niegodziwy [będzie] okupem za sprawiedliwego, a przewrotny – za prawych.
The wicked [shall be] a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 Lepiej mieszkać na pustyni niż z kłótliwą i gniewliwą żoną.
[It is] better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 Pożądany skarb i olej [są] w mieszkaniu mądrego, ale głupiec je trwoni.
[There is] treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 Kto podąża za sprawiedliwością i miłosierdziem, znajduje życie, sprawiedliwość i chwałę.
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 Mądry wdziera się do miasta mocarzy i burzy potęgę ich ufności.
A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 Kto strzeże swoich ust i języka, strzeże swojej duszy przed utrapieniem.
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 Hardy i pyszny szyderca – oto imię tego, kto działa w pysznym gniewie.
Proud [and] haughty scorner [is] his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 Pragnienie leniwego zabija [go], bo jego ręce nie chcą pracować.
The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 Przez cały dzień pożąda on zachłannie, a sprawiedliwy daje i nie szczędzi.
He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 Ofiara niegodziwych budzi odrazę, a cóż dopiero, gdy ją w niegodziwości ofiarują.
The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination: how much more, [when] he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 Fałszywy świadek zginie, lecz kto słucha, będzie mówił nieustannie.
A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 Niegodziwy ma upór na twarzy, ale prawy wytycza swoją drogę.
A wicked man hardeneth his face: but [as for] the upright, he directeth his way.
30 Nie ma mądrości ani rozumu, ani rady przeciwko PANU.
[There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31 Konia przygotowują na dzień bitwy, ale wybawienie zależy od PANA.
The horse [is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety [is] of the LORD.
