Przysłów 14
1 Mądra kobieta buduje swój dom, a głupia burzy go własnymi rękami.
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
2 Kto postępuje w sposób prawy, boi się PANA, a przewrotny na swoich drogach gardzi nim.
He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but [he that is] perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3 W ustach głupiego jest rózga pychy, a mądrych strzegą ich wargi.
In the mouth of the foolish [is] a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4 Gdzie nie ma wołów, żłób jest pusty, lecz dzięki sile wołów mnoży się obfitość zboża.
Where no oxen [are], the crib [is] clean: but much increase [is] by the strength of the ox.
5 Wierny świadek nie kłamie, a fałszywy świadek mówi kłamstwa.
A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
6 Szyderca szuka mądrości, a nie [znajduje], lecz rozumnemu wiedza [przychodzi] łatwo.
A scorner seeketh wisdom, and [findeth it] not: but knowledge [is] easy unto him that understandeth.
7 Odsuń się od głupiego, gdyż nie znajdziesz [u niego] warg rozumnych.
Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not [in him] the lips of knowledge.
8 Mądrość roztropnego [to] poznanie swojej drogi, a głupotą głupich [jest] oszustwo.
The wisdom of the prudent [is] to understand his way: but the folly of fools [is] deceit.
9 Głupcy szydzą z grzechu, a u prawych [jest] przychylność.
Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous [there is] favour.
10 Serce zna własną gorycz, a obcy nie wtrąca się w jego radość.
The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
11 Dom niegodziwych będzie zgładzony, a mieszkanie prawych zakwitnie.
The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
12 Jest droga, która człowiekowi wydaje się słuszna, lecz końcem jej jest droga do śmierci.
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.
13 Nawet w śmiechu serce boleje, a końcem [takiej] wesołości [jest] smutek.
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth [is] heaviness.
14 Serce odstępcy nasyci się jego drogami, a dobry człowiek – swoimi.
The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man [shall be satisfied] from himself.
15 Prosty wierzy każdemu słowu, a roztropny zważa na swoje kroki.
The simple believeth every word: but the prudent [man] looketh well to his going.
16 Mądry boi się i odwraca się od zła, ale głupi w swym szaleństwie jest pewny siebie.
A wise [man] feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
17 [Człowiek] porywczy popełnia głupstwa, a podstępny jest znienawidzony.
[He that is] soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
18 Prości ludzie dziedziczą głupotę, a roztropni są koronowani wiedzą.
The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 Źli kłaniają się przed dobrymi, a niegodziwi u bram sprawiedliwego.
The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 Ubogi jest znienawidzony nawet przez swego bliźniego, a bogaty ma wielu przyjaciół.
The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich [hath] many friends.
21 Kto gardzi swym bliźnim, ten grzeszy, a kto lituje się nad ubogimi, jest błogosławiony.
He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy [is] he.
22 Czyż nie błądzą ci, którzy obmyślają zło? Ale miłosierdzie i prawda są z tymi, którzy obmyślają dobro.
Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth [shall be] to them that devise good.
23 Każda praca [przynosi] pożytek, a [puste] słowa [prowadzą] do nędzy.
In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to penury.
24 Koroną mądrych [jest ich] bogactwo, ale głupota głupich [pozostaje] głupotą.
The crown of the wise [is] their riches: [but] the foolishness of fools [is] folly.
25 Prawdomówny świadek ocala dusze, a fałszywy mówi kłamstwa.
A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful [witness] speaketh lies.
26 W bojaźni PANA jest mocne zaufanie, a jego synowie będą mieć ucieczkę.
In the fear of the LORD [is] strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27 Bojaźń PANA jest źródłem życia, by uniknąć sideł śmierci.
The fear of the LORD [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
28 Liczny lud to chwała króla, a brak ludu to zguba władcy.
In the multitude of people [is] the king’s honour: but in the want of people [is] the destruction of the prince.
29 Nieskory do gniewu jest bardzo roztropny, lecz porywczy wywyższa głupotę.
[He that is] slow to wrath [is] of great understanding: but [he that is] hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30 Zdrowe serce jest życiem ciała, a zazdrość jest zgnilizną kości.
A sound heart [is] the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
31 Kto gnębi ubogiego, uwłacza jego Stwórcy, a czci go ten, kto lituje się nad ubogim.
He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
32 Niegodziwy zostaje wygnany z powodu swojego zła, a sprawiedliwy ma nadzieję [nawet] w [czasie] swojej śmierci.
The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
33 Mądrość spoczywa w sercu rozumnego, a [co jest] w sercu głupich, wychodzi na jaw.
Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but [that which is] in the midst of fools is made known.
34 Sprawiedliwość wywyższa naród, a grzech jest hańbą narodów.
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin [is] a reproach to any people.
35 Król jest przychylny dla roztropnego sługi, lecz gniewa się [na tego], który [przynosi] hańbę.
The king’s favour [is] toward a wise servant: but his wrath is [against] him that causeth shame.
