Mateusza 6
1 Pilnujcie się, abyście waszej jałmużny nie dawali przed ludźmi [po to], aby was widzieli, inaczej nie będziecie mieli nagrody u waszego Ojca, który jest w niebie.
But take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen by them; otherwise ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
2 Dlatego, gdy dajesz jałmużnę, nie trąb przed sobą, jak to robią obłudnicy w synagogach i na ulicach, aby ich ludzie chwalili. Zaprawdę powiadam wam: Odbierają swoją nagrodę.
Therefore when thou doest alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Truly do I say to you, They have received their reward.
3 Ale ty, gdy dajesz jałmużnę, niech nie wie twoja lewa ręka, co czyni prawa;
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth;
4 Aby twoja jałmużna pozostała w ukryciu, a twój Ojciec, który widzi w ukryciu, odda ci jawnie.
that thine alms may be in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee.
5 A gdy się modlisz, nie bądź jak obłudnicy. Oni bowiem chętnie modlą się, stojąc w synagogach i na rogach ulic, aby ludzie ich widzieli. Zaprawdę powiadam wam: Odbierają swoją nagrodę.
And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites are; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly do I say to you, They have received their reward.
6 Ale ty, gdy się modlisz, wejdź do swego pokoju, zamknij drzwi i módl się do twego Ojca, który jest w ukryciu, a twój Ojciec, który widzi w ukryciu, odda ci jawnie.
But do thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and, when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee.
7 A modląc się, nie bądźcie wielomówni jak poganie; oni bowiem sądzą, że ze względu na swoją wielomówność będą wysłuchani.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do; for they think that they shall be heard for the multitude of their words.
8 Nie bądźcie do nich podobni, gdyż wasz Ojciec wie, czego potrzebujecie, zanim go poprosicie.
Be not ye therefore like them; for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 Wy więc tak się módlcie: Ojcze nasz, który jesteś w niebie, niech będzie uświęcone twoje imię.
After this manner therefore pray ye: —Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
10 Niech przyjdzie twoje królestwo, niech się dzieje twoja wola na ziemi, tak jak w niebie.
thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
11 Daj nam dzisiaj naszego powszedniego chleba.
give us this day our daily bread;
12 I przebacz nam nasze winy, jak i my przebaczamy tym, którzy przeciw nam zawinili.
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors;
13 I nie wystawiaj nas na pokusę, ale wybaw nas od złego; twoje bowiem jest królestwo, moc i chwała na wieki. Amen.
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
14 Bo jeśli przebaczycie ludziom ich przewinienia, i wam przebaczy wasz Ojciec niebieski.
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you;
15 Lecz jeśli nie przebaczycie ludziom ich przewinień, to i wasz Ojciec nie przebaczy wam waszych przewinień.
but if ye do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
16 A gdy pościcie, nie miejcie twarzy smutnej jak obłudnicy; szpecą bowiem swoje twarze, aby ludzie widzieli, że poszczą. Zaprawdę powiadam wam: Odbierają swoją nagrodę.
Moreover, when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance; for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly do I say to you, They have received their reward.
17 Ale ty, gdy pościsz, namaść sobie głowę i umyj twarz;
But do thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;
18 Aby nie ludzie widzieli, że pościsz, lecz twój Ojciec, który jest w ukryciu; a twój Ojciec, który widzi w ukryciu, odda ci jawnie.
that thou appear not to men to be fasting, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee.
19 Nie gromadźcie sobie skarbów na ziemi, gdzie mól i rdza niszczą i gdzie złodzieje włamują się i kradną;
Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth, where the moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;
20 Ale gromadźcie sobie skarby w niebie, gdzie ani mól, ani rdza nie niszczą i gdzie złodzieje nie włamują się i nie kradną.
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumeth, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
21 Gdzie bowiem jest wasz skarb, tam będzie i wasze serce.
For where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also.
22 Światłem ciała jest oko. Jeśli więc twoje oko jest szczere, całe twoje ciało będzie pełne światła.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If thine eye he clear, thy whole body will be in light;
23 Jeśli zaś twoje oko jest złe, całe twoje ciało będzie pełne ciemności. Jeśli więc światło, które jest w tobie, jest ciemnością, [sama] ciemność jakaż [będzie]?
but if thine eye be disordered, thy whole body will be in darkness. If then the light that is within thee is darkness, how great that darkness!
24 Nikt nie może dwom panom służyć, gdyż albo jednego będzie nienawidził, a drugiego będzie miłował, albo jednego będzie się trzymał, a drugim pogardzi. Nie możecie służyć Bogu i mamonie.
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate one, and love the other; or else he will cleave to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
25 Dlatego mówię wam: Nie troszczcie się o wasze życie, co będziecie jeść albo co będziecie pić, ani o wasze ciało, w co będziecie się ubierać. Czyż życie nie jest czymś więcej niż pokarm, a ciało niż ubranie?
Therefore I say to you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?
26 Spójrzcie na ptaki nieba, że nie sieją ani nie żną, ani nie zbierają do spichlerzy, a jednak wasz Ojciec niebieski żywi je. Czy wy nie jesteście o wiele cenniejsi niż one?
Behold the birds of the air, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much greater value than they?
27 I któż z was, martwiąc się, może dodać do swego wzrostu jeden łokieć?
But who of you by anxious thought can add to his life one cubit?
28 A o ubranie dlaczego się troszczycie? Przypatrzcie się liliom polnym, jak rosną; nie pracują ani nie przędą.
And why are ye anxious about raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They toil not, neither do they spin;
29 A mówię wam, że nawet Salomon w całej swojej chwale nie był [tak] ubrany, jak jedna z nich.
and yet I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these.
30 Jeśli więc trawę polną, która dziś jest, a jutro zostanie wrzucona do pieca, Bóg tak ubiera, czyż nie tym bardziej was, ludzie małej wiary?
And if God so clothes the herbage of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into an oven, will he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Nie troszczcie się więc, mówiąc: Cóż będziemy jeść? albo: Co będziemy pić? albo: W co się ubierzemy?
Therefore be not anxious, saying, What shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we he clothed?
32 Bo o to wszystko poganie zabiegają. Wie bowiem wasz Ojciec niebieski, że tego wszystkiego potrzebujecie.
For after all these things do the gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 Ale szukajcie najpierw królestwa Bożego i jego sprawiedliwości, a to wszystko będzie wam dodane.
But seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will also be given you.
34 Dlatego nie troszczcie się o dzień jutrzejszy, gdyż dzień jutrzejszy sam się zatroszczy o swoje [potrzeby]. Dosyć ma dzień swego utrapienia.
Be not then anxious about the morrow; for the morrow will be anxious about itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.
